I love Spin of Fate. It answered my need for more worldbuilding and structured magic system. While also having character friction and chemistry. I can def sense the anime inspo and imagined it as anime in my head lol.

I just read Fireborne Blade and Foul Days back to back based on your recommendations. I liked Fireborne Blade a lot, but I loooooved Foul Days! Can't wait to pick up the sequel.

You're blessed for Sunbringer not hurting Godkiller for you, Elliot! I wish it was the case for me. It kind of hurt Godkiller, which I loved. I just thought that Sunbringer was such a placeholder sort of book that not only nothing happened in until well after the halfway point, but it also essentially removed Godkillers strength, which was the found family element, by immediately splitting everyone up and basically have them all do nothing but twiddle their thumbs waiting for book 3 right along with the rest of us. Another beautiful cover though.

Thank you for articulating what didn't work for me! I couldn't point it but what you say makes completely sense. Still want to read book 3 when it comes out!

I love Foul Days and am currently reading Monstrous Nights! I don’t think I would have found it if it weren’t for your channel! Unrelated but I also loved Green Rider and just finished the second book in that series-thank you for that too! 💕

I loved Foul Days and The Teller of Small Fortunes. I hope you can review The Scarlet Throne and The Dollmakers because these were all my top reads of the year.

I loved A Sorceress Comes to call and the spellshop so much! Foul days and the sequel are on my tbr hopefully I can read before the year ends. Also, have you read The Scholar and the last Faerie door by HG Perry? LOVED IT 😊

I'm waiting on the audiobook of Foul Days through Libby. I've been waiting since the beginning of September and it's estimated to be available in 13 more weeks. 😢 I do really hope I enjoy it. A Sorceress Comes to Call was so good! The Spellshop has been my favorite book so far this year. There were things in that story that hit close to home and were very relatable for me and it made my heart feel understood and also a little more whole.

I genuinely only trust Elliot (and Petrik) when it comes to fantasy book recs. Case in point, all of the books in this video are now on my tbr and yes, I will neglect my backlog books to prioritise these.

I really loved the Spellshop too! I have to try Foul Days and A Sorceress Comes to Call.

I just finished The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door and loved it...I do love a good historical fantasy (especially set in an academic setting, like this one). Hope you get to it soon!

What a great list Elliot- I also loved A sorceress comes to call back when I read it. I still need to get to The Spell Shop soon. Btw, I would recommend a cosy fantasy with light academia revolving around plants and botany that I just finished last night called Evergreen Academy by Heather Schneider.

I was so sad I didn’t like a sorceress comes to call! Actually, I really liked the final 20% where to me it turned into the classic t kingfisher style I’d expected throughout but otherwise I thought the plot was already laid out so obviously from right at the start of the book it wasn’t unexpected or exciting to read.

Same, I bombed hard off this one and I usually really enjoy her work. It was so bland and predictable, and the villain soooo one dimensional!

I loved Foul Days, but Monstrous Nights felt a little unnecessary for the world building and overarching story. It's still a fun read. I look forward to hear your thoughts about it.

My favorite new releases are Lady Macbeth and The Spellshop. Sunbringer follows after that. No 5 stars though!

the fact that nobody talks about the book called Manifestation Hacks by Olivia Cooper speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance.

The Spellshop didn’t work for me… too boring and flat. The setting is cute but that’s it. 😅

The ending definitely killed it for me. Such a shame cause it's a really pretty book

@@Erazona endings are make or break. I can be enjoying a story just fine, but if they mess up the ending I'm gonna hate the whole book now 😅
