Rainbow darters, sparkling gourami, blue medals rice fish, and Japanese blue swordtail guppies. My favorite blue fish is Elassoma gilberti or any other Elassoma.

I have a male and female magnificus killifish, and the male has gorgeous colours. From the Modest Fish website, the magnificus description: "The base color is a pale blue or even pink that’s cut with vertical stripes over the abdomen of the fish. The body is covered with tons of iridescent speckling. It has fairly showy fins that are covered in beautiful patterns of iridescent blue-green that really stand out." Magnificus isn't the only type of killifish that has a lot of brilliant blue, but I specifically wanted a non-annual species. The downside to many killifish is that their lifespans can be pretty short, so if not prepared for that, best to go with non-annual or semi-annual types.

I have two neon gobies and absolutely love them. One does stay blue all the time, the other is brown. I have an order from Dans fish for five more because I’ve heard they like to be in bigger numbers. I have a heavily planted aquarium which makes them hard to see sometimes. They love to burry themselves in the substrate. When they are out they are a blast to watch. They don’t seem to need any special foods. I feed spirulina flakes, bug bites and spirulina tabs by Sera. They are rather expensive but the very best tabs I’ve tried so far. The only downside to having them is that they do hide for long periods of time. So much so I think they died but then there they are, resting on a leaf. They do stay pretty small only an inch or so. They have sort of a salamander face which makes them extra cute. I have mine in a 29 gallon tank which I think helps them not want to jump out. I did lose one from the small quarantine tank when he jumped out.

The neon blue goby looks nice I think that is my favorite. Currently have a red lipstick goby very curious fish that gobys are used to have some bumblebee gobys

I love my sparkling gouramis. They are more iridescent, but they flash blue-green every time they flip their tails. Low lighting makes them look SO good.

The green neon tetra got their name from their top down view as in the way you'd see them in the wild. Definitely my favorite Tetra, with Embers being second.

I had a stiphadon goby for many years. One of my absolute favorite fish. Really easy to keep. I had a different color variety, kept it in my ten gallon with my betta and she was great. I was so sad when I finally lost her.

Elassoma gilberti or the gulf coast pygmy sunfish. I think it is the best blue nano fish. Far and way the best blue nano fish out there and nothing else competes with its color and personality and displaying in an aquarium.

I've had my blue stiphodon gobies (1 male 1 female) for I'd say about a year now. They aren't a brilliant blue all the time. More like an angle kinda thing unless sparring makes a difference as u mentioned. The Male is significantly bigger. They were EXTREMELY shy for the first several months, but have adjusted to coming out n being one of my favorite goofy little fish. I love the way they move n just love them for reasons I can't really explain. They're just truly interesting n adorable. They're with neocaridina, harlequin tetras, snails, pygmy cories, n male guppies n seem to do fine with them. I have no heater n sponge filters with phosguard n I can't think of the name of the other product, but it helps with ammonia. It's also a heavily planted aquascaped 10gal yank. The only issues I really have r algae cuz I basically set it n forget it, n the males competing some. I think with ur experience n their simplicity they'd b a great addition for u. Hey Irene, I have been keeping neon blue stiphedon goby's for about a year now in my 29 gallon planted tank with no issues. They are more blueish green and I find the dominant male definitely has the best color. I only have a sponge filter in my tank so in my experience they do not need high water flow. They definitely love their soft algar and bio films so a seasoned tank is a must for them.

I love the green neon tetras! I 100% agree with you on how vibrant they are even with the lights off. I have a school of 20 in my 36 gallon bow-front and they aren’t shy at all. They each swim around like they own the tank and come shooting up for food when I come to the glass. I wouldn’t say my tank is heavily planted, maybe moderately at best.

I've been keeping the neon blue gobies for a while. And yes, they get very, very blue - it especially pops at feeding time. But they do take a while to settle in for sure.

Your preference for blue fish obviously indicates you are a person with extremely good taste. Of course my own bias toward blue in no way influenced my opinion. That said, I can only match my clothes to particular fish is if they are only black or blue. Okay, I’m sort of kidding. I do really appreciate the information you provide. I’m about to move to a smaller apartment & will likely get back to my long dormant fish keeping hobby (since 1975). Mostly I’m interested in what are now called nano fish - guppies, tetras, etc. Things have changed so much, I feel like I’m starting from scratch, & I really relate to your presentations. Thank you so much. They are helpful & enjoyable.

I recently bought an electric blue ram for my community tank, home to a school of copper rasbora, a petricola catfish, siamese algae eater, 3 pea puffers, and a bunch of cherry shrimp. In a heavily planted tank with tannins, he absolutely pops and stands out so much even from across the room. Keeping him on his own without a female, he still displays almost constantly.

neon blue striphodon gobies are a lot hardier than people make them out to be! i have 2 and started them in my 10 gallon tank at first, for about 3 months with low flow. Then moved them into my 55 gallon that has 2 filters and higher flow, they are for sure more active in the higher flow tanks but do perfectly fine in low flow as well.

Not as blue as people would consider, but Julidochromis Dickfeldi has wonderful shimmering blue fins with a spangling pattern on them that makes them look really nice in the right conditions.

PERFECT TIMING for this video. I want to ask you for your thoughts… I’ve stocked my 32.5 Gallon tank (densely planted with FAKE plants) with : - 8 flame tetras - 5 albino corydoras - 1 bristlenose pleco - 1 honey gourami And my water parameters are always solid, water tests always good - I’m looking to add some blue. I want a powder blue dwarf gourami for my platy tank. They're so beautiful! On film at certain angles, yours has a silvery-greenish tinge, gorgeous! I had dwarf emerald danios which I found to be blue, not green. Males are much more colorful than females and can be pretty aggressive and very very shy.

I have 2 neon gobies in a planted community aquarium they love to hide only aggressive to their own kind easy to keep my water ph 7.2 TDS 150-170 temp 22-23 Celsius they’ll eat almost anything from rice to fish food the flow is not too important since I keep them in a 70 galleon there are high flow area and low flow area although I see them hanging more in the slow flowing planted area they also eat algae and shrimps this I find most success and colouring up best when kept with neocaridina shrimp

Hey, I have a 1500 litre outdoor pond, I have around 300+ guppies in their now, I am going to sell them in a month or two and I will add more expensive guppies and I will also add some fire red cherry Shrimp. But, I add about 150 grams of salt and 150 grams of zeolite in the water because I am not being able to get dechlorinator now, so I am wondering if the salt or zeolite will be a problem for Shrimp. The electric blue ram is much more peaceful than the GBR and you can actually keep them around 80°F the higher temperatures are really if you are trying to breed them but that tank you have seems a little full with all of those platy babies great video though

Gobies do stay blue. I had trouble with feeding in a community tank since they seem to be less aggressive than the other fish. When I started feeding repashy they put on more weight.

The only thing bad about blue gouramis and electric blue rams is that they are relatively short lived. Blue rams like it warmer, warmer water speeds up metabolism, so naturally they burn out a little early; and for the blue gouramis, they are overly bred and exported. If you get them from breeders in the US, you might have hardier specimens, as the breeding ethics here are a little better.

Zebra Danios are an obvious choice. There are also blue Platys, Variatus, Guppys and a few other Tetra Species including Columbian Tetras and Cochu's Blue Tetra.
