My personal preference would be anything Perdomo The reasons are : When I think about a cigar I would have every day I do think about flavour , of course , but also construction and quality control , so it would have a good burn , perfect draw and wouldn't require puffing so often . Perdomos are the only ones I buy by the box exactly because of that

Padron 1964 Anniversario Maduro. I tell my friends all the time if you had an hour left to live, I’d say get me a Padron. I just had my first fuente fuente and was not impressed. Lit up a 64 immediately after to properly commemorate the sale of my first home.

I’m an occasional smoker, maybe 3 or 4 a month. The Padron 1926 or the 1964 are my go-to sticks. Admittedly they are expensive, but I feel you get what you pay for. They are both excellent cigars. I always try to keep a few on hand, with some 3000’s as well.

Everytime I went to Cuba I used to bring two or three boxes of cigars with me. Cuban cigars are put on the market to soon so they need to age a lot. A few days ago I smoked a Bolivar Royal Corona which dates from 2009. Five years ago it was very good but this time i noticed that it has evolved into ultimate perfection.... And I have 19 left in the box at this right moment. This is what makes me a very happy guy after 12 years of patience !!!! The cigar also reminds me of the good times there years ago.

My first cigaar was the la aurora perfecto saphire. Smoked with my dad got him an emerald. He taught me how to smoke cigars even though he didnt really smoke only socially. So those will always hold a special place for me. Then it was padron when i got into the darker leaves. Now I’m all about broadleafs. Aj Fernandez makes a fire cigar. Every cigar he touches is gold. I’m currently smoking The Tabernacle Esteli-Nicaragua in toro. For me if i was buying a box. They would have to be Toros or churchhills. I wouldn’t justify a robusto if there is a toro for just a couple bucks more. So that’s my two cents. And of course I’m getting them from Cigars Daily.

I know you mentioned the Melanio, but the Oliva Serie V is consistently the box I buy. You can get the belicoso or double robusto around $120 on sale (and that's for 24, not 20), or nearer to $140-150 normally. They always smoke like a dream and never disappoint me with their flavor. It might partially be nostalgia because the Serie V was actually the first box I ever purchased, but damn if I can't find a better deal in the cigar world.

Tim makes a good point... so many great samplers out there that my buddy and I have been plowing through multiple lines from multiple manufacturers since we started the hobby in 2020. Rough guesstimate is probably 75 different lines from over 25 different manufacturers. And we're still trying new sticks all the time. We usually only smoke once a week or so on the weekend, with an occasional weeknight tossed in on special occasions like the World Series or some other event. As such, we don't go through cigars very fast. It isn't usually worth it to buy a whole box of something; however, we have split a box here and there. We've split a box of RyJ Reserva Real (red label) and the Nicaragua version of that stick (blue label), a box of RyJ 1875 Nicaragua (white band with orange trim), and a box of Oliva Master Blend 3.

The La Aroma De Cuba Double Corona and the LFD Double Ligero in the 8x54 size (Digger is great, but unwieldy enough to be annoying sometimes) are the only cigars I know I would be buying boxes of in the future. The Camacho Corojo and Ecuador in the Churchill or Gigante are worth it in my experience too, mostly because I like them and I never find them in those sizes in places around me.

I've tried many varieties, and they all have positive and outstanding features, but finding a cigar that ticks all the boxes is rare. Some that tick the boxes for me are Herrera Esteli original, La Flor Dominicana ligero, La Flor Dominicano double ligero, Partagas D No. 4, and most other Cubans I have smoked, living here in Canada. I buy boxes of those. I've smoked many of the "cigars of the year," and they tend to be outstanding in one or two unique ways, but there's always something out of balance for my particular taste.

The first two I get more often because the price is a little better at $8-$9 a stick. Both are AJ sticks, the Bellas Artes and Hoya la Amistad Silver. Diamond Crown #4 Natural Robusto and Fratella Cigarillos. For me both have an anytime flavor, they seem to go with ANYTHING for food or drinks and when I give one of any of these to friends or family whether they enjoy cigars or not neither have the capacity to offend much. The Fratellas are big enough to scratch an itch but small enough to enjoy when time is limited and the Diamond Crown can be whatever you want it to be. A celebration, a break or a gift. You name it this cigar can do it. For me box worthy means versatility and grace. Traits these two have for me in spades.

I swear by CAO Pilòn. Both corona (45minutes smoke) or Robusto (60-70minutes smoke) are fine. The toro is just to big for my taste, but that is generally the case with toro's
