谢谢又是的好的视频了!I really appreciate the fact you chose to give an explanation of filler words in the beginning. We learn them instinctively in our L1 but second language teachers tend to not teach them because they are seen as informal and not suitable for academic situations. Regardless of your opinion on that, they are a natural conversational aspect of all languages which you highlighted nicely in your video so it’s important to know them! Also fun fact, when we get stuck in thought in our L1 we of course use filler words but in our L2 we tend to just say nothing...depending how fluent we are. Another reason fillers are good to know 哈哈

Yo... Did you see Russell Peters talk about "neige ( 那個)" at KFC in China? kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPWiKNmbKeqjM0 It was hilarious🤣🤣🤣 because of the situation and how it sounded similar to the "N-word" in English. Be careful when learning new languages.

I never knew what nei ge meant but I always heard this from Chinese university students. In American english it sounds very similar to a racial slur against African/Black Americans spelled nigg*r. Obviously people know in conversation that the individuals are speaking a foreign language but that is not a Mandarin word I would ever ponder or say out loud unless as a part of a sentence. I always felt uncomfortable hearing it but hopefully knowing what it means eases that anxiety towards that word. Anyways thanks.

I think that ran hou is the equivalent of using 'like' as a filler word in English. Compared to other filler words they're more likely to be overused and make you sound unsure or unprofessional.
