It's not *perfect* but Indonesia on archipelago is quite fun... IF you are suzerain of Auckland. It's so beautiful to see a city on just three tiles have 100+ production. A nice bonus to faith, which can be used to buy ships. The minor adjacency bonuses are a little weaker than they might naively sound. An industrial zone on a one-tile island only give +3.The standard adjacency bonuses for harbors are generally more useful (often +5 gold and production, which can easily be doubled).

6:35 - I concede that I'm super duper nit-picking here, but how does more culture give you more envoys? Obviously many civics give you envoys- is that what you're referring to? I always consider the envoys from civics to be "banked" envoys that I store in case I need to re-take suzereinity of a city-state and particularly those that you can build a strategy around (Auckland, Bologna, Kumasi, etc.) and "extra" envoys from bonuses like quests, Acropolis, RR Teddy and Hammurabi and Matthias, great merchant generation, and most notably the Owls opener. Also, while she certainly isn't the strongest civ in the game, I'd give a mention to Gitarja on an island plates or archipelago map with abundant resources and the Auckland city-state.The Kampungs make some of the best tile-porn in the game. With just a lighthouse, those kampungs are at least food-neutral (making the 2 food necessary to feed the population point working it) and usually food-positive, make 2 hammers per turn each early game and 4 hammers each mid-game, they all sprinkle in gold per turn, give you basically unlimited housing... as long as you can stay on top of amenities (perhaps by building a religion around it), you can have cities that almost rival Jay's in size with most worked tiles having more production than his do. And the real beauty of this is that since most of your worked tiles will be water tiles, you can 1.) chop everything on land, except the luxuries and strategics that you're selling to the AI, and 2.) not having to worry about working land tiles means you can focus 100% on using your land to optimize district and wonder placement. I know you Civ-tubers like your pangaea and continents maps, and while Gitarja does get beaten out by Portugal Joe, her on these maps make incredibly fun games... and relaxing - while taking out a neighbor early is one of the best ways to hit the ground running, it's so nice to be able to just sim-city your way to victory; by the time the AI has the tools needed to reach you, you've already built your "don't f- with me" units that prevent them from every DoWing. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Almost guaranteed first pantheon, I used to use it for God of the Sea but with kampungs its not really necessary, and you obviously don't want Earth Goddess or land tile-boosting pantheons, but holy site boosting picks help, Divine Spark is good, Religious Settlements, Goddess of Harvests, Fertility Rites plays into her strat well, or even city patron so every city can get their all-important harbor out. And with Societies... Owls obviously as every city will generate 2 trade routes and most of the city-states won't be killed by Deity AI or at least much later (most on islands.) She doesn't have the best faith output but still gets a little something to boost Voidsingers main bonus (the second one.) Not much for Sanguine, but since she's working mostly water tiles and having her land optimize districts, she's one of the few that can actually make Hermetic Order work!

@brandonzzz99243 жыл бұрын
Naval warfare is so easy. Even with the update to naval AI, a couple frigates or battleships will quite literally take out every city within 3 tiles of the coast. Even being behind in science by multiple eras, the AI can't deal with battleships and aircraft.

If you turn on Secret Societies and pick Owls, you can get twice the number of traders per city by building Gilded Halls, making Portugal even more OP. Also, I think Rough Rider Teddy with Barbarian Clans and Owls, and Magnificence Catherine with Monopolies and Corporations deserve an honorable mention.

Cree + highlands = denying food and exploration to rivals, while Cree are immune to lack of farms and okichictaws start with free promo that can be used for guerilla. And pretty guaranteed every mekewap would be on hill. Surprisingly the best civ for every highly hilly map and pretty syrprised you again forgot about Cree while it deserves at least for honourable mention. You must don't like them at all.

I find that a normal lakes or highlands map has enough tundra in the north/south to make a huge empire. It allows you to divide your empire into a huge faith dump in the tundra and traditional cities in the non-tundra. You have so much tundra it’s insane.
