I wish the pheasants made it to white deer park and here’s how I would think about this. They would have 8 eggs sadly one doesn’t hatch and all hatch. A chick gets taken by Scarface And our total is 6. One drowns and one dies from the cold winter. The remaining chicks make it to the juvenile stage and live happily ever after and have chicks of their own.

@@michaelatanasio223 Exposure of reality is good for children but, to an extent. This show was a little excessive. Children don't comprehend violence and death the same way adults do because their brains aren't even developed enough to cope with things like that. It can cause major issues for their later development. Children can sometimes obsess over things that are so complex because they just don't have the ability to understand why, or when, or how such things happen. Even when they do, it can end up being detrimental. My niece will literally have anxiety over the thought of death and what may happen after and she's only 9 years old.

The main reason I agree with Mrs. Pheasant's death as number one is that she made herself useful for him. Despite that she didn't get much happiness in exchange. He mentions that she found "grub" for her husband and even tried to put a few of Owl's feathers on her husband when he complained about losing his tail. To make matters worse, he calls her a stupid bird because the feather's don't match his. After those hints of how bad life was for Mrs. Pheasant, it was very hurtful when she died. I didn't really care about the husband Pheasant's death though. I still disliked him.

In terms of Badger's death it's ever more sad that it isn't Mole there as despite everything and even telling him at Times that Mole wasn't there and Mossy saying he wasn't Mole, Badger still couldn't accept that fact that Mole had Died. I actually think it's more realistic considering that Badger was Dying of Althzamier's and it just makes it even more painful when Mossy actually said that he is Mole only for Badger to say that he doesn't know any moles and the final nail in the coffin is Mossy saying that he doesn't have to pretend to be his father anymore and yet still walking off to be by himself.

I know this might sound callous, but I think it's good for children to see death like this. The show doesn't make death a joke, or handle it inappropriately. The show shows that life is precious and is something to fight for. It's sad when Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog died, but it was done in a loving manner, showing that she would rather die with her husband than live without him. It's actually quite beautiful, and kids should see this. Children are tougher than people give them credit for. Is this gonna give them nightmares? Maybe for a bit. Will it fuck them up for life? Probably not.
@GemR386 жыл бұрын
100% agree with you. I'm 33 and watched this as a kid. It was beautiful to look at and the characters were amazing. This series taught me more about the lives of animals and the impact we are making on them more than anything in a class at school.
@deerjuices7726 жыл бұрын
As a 16 year old who watched this when I was around the age of 7-8 I still remember how heart bursting the pheasants' deaths were to this day, as well as Mr and Mrs. Hedgehog. While it did leave me heart broken for about a week, it gave me a new perspective on how humans treat animals and how unfair the world can be, which was good for me as a young audience. I believe that it's media like this that strongly impacts change, and I believe that there should be more cartoons like this shown to kids today.
@JoeSchmoeBro6 жыл бұрын
I grew up watching shit like this and I can only agree with you. Not this soft shit

Exactly. Those shows may be "Messed up", but In my opinion, they're real. That's why kids SHOULD be exposed to this. So they can see the real world, along with touching, heartwarming and tragic scenes. Kids shouldn't be "protected" from these shows.
@DASMILIE6 жыл бұрын
Riley Sansoucy I disagree. There's plenty of time for kids to learn about death, and there are many, more savory ways to teach your kid about the importance of life other than making them watch characters (whom they've grown emotionally attached to) die in gruesome and heartbreaking ways. I do think it can be quite scarring, and that it's better to underestimate a child's emotional endurance to these types of things than to overestimate their ability to cope and as a result, giving them nightmares and making them sad. Children honestly don't need to be exposed to this. There's time for that later. Childhood should be as blissful and carefree as possible, even if that means you have to hide some things from them. I think It's good to experience an unrealistic bloom of positivity before you have to deal with certain realities which, aren't as positive. The world isn't an over all horrible place, but there are some horrible things that can occur. Children don't need to know about that bad side of life, just yet. They're born hopefully knowing only good, and they should stay that way until they're old enough to develop independent thought and fully comprehend some inevitable sorrows. There's simply no need to introduce them to death so prematurely. Death is hopefully far away, and they shouldn't think about it. As a child who was exposed to more mature content growing up, I can honestly say that you shouldn't just assume *all* kids are tough enough to handle this. Things like these gave me night terrors, and that scarred me for a bit. Of course, I got over it, but it was p unnecessary. I certainly didn't need that as a kid. It didn't give me anything worth while. It just made me scared, and sad. I was fearing death even though I only like, 6. That shouldn't happen.

Okay! The hedgehog's death while sad leaves me with this burning question. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE ELSE GO BACK TO HELP THEM?! You have a fox! some rabbits! some of the fastest critters in nature! How hard would it had been for one of them to go darting back to grab them and then zip back across the road?
@NicoUnken6 жыл бұрын
This is actually something that should've been mentioned in the video; None of the animals could pick up the hedgehogs due to the bristles on their backs. Most of the smaller animals (like mice, mole, vole, etc) were actually flown across the road by Stork. But he points out that he can't carry the Hedgehogs, and neither can Fox, etc. They all felt bad about it but it couldn't be helped. The theme in that episode seemed to be showing how the Hedgehogs natural-born defense (to curl up/the bristles on their backs) is what got them killed.

You should see the book series! There is definitely a theme of the older generation's action screwing over the younger generation and the ripple effects of personal choices. I think what makes Pheasant's death particularly shocking is that is kind of implied that, with his remorse over his wife's death, he might have started becoming a nicer bird over time. But no, before that can happen, he gets shot himself in the very next episode - while trying to make amends for his lazy behaviour AND after seeing his wife's roasted body, no less!

@@jaqjynx clearly you've never actually handled a hedgehog then. Try and pick an average female/male one up with just your hands (don't do this IRL, a lot of wild hedgehogs have parasites/worms and other nasty stuff that can get into your skin), I can guarantee you that they're wayyyyy more spiky and soreness-inducing than you realise. If you do decide to handle one (wouldn't recommend unless you're taking them to a sanctuary or they're your pet and enjoy the attention anyway), handle them with a thick towel or ideally in a small, insulated box with thick material - especially important in winter. (I actually volunteered at a hedgehog center for a couple years, hence why I actually feel qualified on the subject 😂 love the little guys. So when he cauhgt a glimpse of the man aiming at him, he felt no fear or need to flee. He was calmly accepting his fate, and in a twisted way even happy: he was going by the same way, by the same man and by the same gun, that his wife did.
