I love your comment about who might wear the British countryside trend. Living in the British countryside I can confirm that no one local would wear these outfits. They are best worn in cities where they won't frighten the horses. 😂

@@lynnfox8376 I like those trends, tartans, earthy tones, warmth, elegance but it feels a bit like to wear riding breeches in places and occasions where /that have nothing to do with riding sport. Like why shouldn't or couldn't I wear country or folk clothing of my own country, why is looking british more posh or is it? 🙂 Well, just a comment.
@sulalee74132 ай бұрын
I agree. I live in the country and wear the same clothes I wore when I lived in London. I certainly would never wear a mini skirt: the UK is far too cold to wear those at this time of year! 😱Also, most people aren't in their 20's so most fashion doesn't apply, unless you're Anna Wintour. Also, the tartan is more Scottish than English but yes, it's is therefore, British but who would wear these big patterned tartans in not the very young? Most people would not wear cargo pants unless young, certainly only in casual situations. I don't think any of those models look "posh". You have to be wealthy to buy designer clothes but not necessarily stylish.

The drapy outerwear is definitely my favorite. I have a huge scarf with removable fur collar, it works both like a scarf and like nearly a poncho, I think it’s chic and also very comfortable. With high brown leather boots it also gets the English countryside vibe, which I like.

@@maggiemiddleton8760 I have an hour glass figure, although these days it's more like a 24 hour glass! So I do like to wear fitted clothing that accentuates my waist. I started the men's coat trend last year by accident. I thrifted a long wool coat because I needed one. It happens to be double breasted. If I button it up to the neck and belt it, I look like a Russian officer from the late 1800's. Kidding aside (I don't wear it like that), it was a staple last winter and I expect that it will be moving forward. It's just warm, comfortable, stylish and versatile.

I feel like those masculine fits and trends are meant for other bodies that are not mine. I am more or less petite and have a very femenine shape so I look quite absurd in that kind of clothes. I would welcome a video about how to adapt this trend to different body shapes in a modern way because my personal reference for this style is Annie Hall. The cleverly accessorized menswear trend is probably the one I'd wear most often because it looks cool & wouldn't swallow me up, & I love the smooth, drapey leather one as well. The British countryside is fabulous & screams Bridgerton, & the drapey coats/big scarves look great, but if I wore one, my head would look like a pea. I don't know whether this is the first time you've done it, but highlighting the look you're discussing on each trend board really helps us follow along with your thoughts.

Thanks for this, Justine. I'm petite and wear plus sizes so I understand people's hesitation to wear boxier silhouettes and styles but I think that's why the belts are the best part of all these looks. I recently stopped wearing fitted jeans and opted for more relaxed fits and I've found that that's made me more playful with silhouette. You can always incorporate what you like and discard what you don't. I love big scarves and chunky boots so that's easy to add into my winter wardrobe.

Thank you! As someone with a hard-earned and global sense of style and a love of good tailoring who lives in a region where most people, obliged to restrict themselves to the prêt-à-porter version available of whatever is trendy, have decided to double-down and take pride in being "on trend," I always find your professional insights helpful in determining how to harmonize my own style with whatever is trending. There are fewer things more insulting than receiving contemptuous comments because one's couture wardrobe is not "on trend" from an overweight teenage girl who's "wise" enough to cram her (also) American thighs into black skinny jeans that are part of a head-to-toe black (or "black") ensemble. Your overview of anticipated trends is always on point and immensely helpful in avoiding a repeat of the insults to which I and my tailors were subjected to when the advent of fast fashion, despite its modest yet valuable merits, resulted in people being proud of the ridiculous. I personally can do without another year 2017 in fashion in America, and your insights help me be informed enough to curate and personalize the trends for myself.

People being proud of the ridiculous- very well said. I’ve always cared about how I look and dress. Seeing over weight women crammed into skin tight spandex/ stretchy clothes especially pants,showing every ounce of cellulite on their bodies is mind boggling. No matter what the trend is - if it doesn’t feel or look right - don’t wear it. I’m not body shaming anybody, including including myself. It is what it it. Clothes are worn to accentuate our good features and down play what is unattractive. I’ve developed sciolios the past few years and have had to completely change the way I dress. I’m bent over and senior so I wear loose fitting neutral colored clothes and add a little style with accessories. I just about always receive compliments whenever I go out. Color coordination is key.
