I have been enjoying your videos for well over a year, I like the fact the you are aware that a Sportster is not a Girls Bike, I am getting old now, I got first Panhead in 1973, I was 17 years, back then Sportsters were the first choice for the serious rider or serious Club Member, Full Dressers were often called Garbage Wagons, they were slow and did not handle nearly as well as a Sporty, and What a Glorious sound, I appreciate your videos on newer engines and models too, Good ending to your video, you were at 2,200 Subs. Now more than 50,000 Subs and monetized, Good for You.

Hey fella. Good vid. Been following for a little while now. Just got an 883C 2003 Sportster. Totally love it. One thing that may be a good (sort of) upgrade is to place the mirrors under bars and swap sides. This gives a clearer view forwards, better view rear via under your arms and it costs zero. Becoming more tuned in to this channel than most others on YT. Great dedication.

That's a sharp Sporty. My last before I got on a Lowrider,was a 1998 Sportster S .It was set up pretty nice from HD,dual plug heads, single fire ign.adjustable front and rear suspension,more compression,warmer cams.It really sounded nice with a Trapp and billet end cap.Blew every single bulb including headlight while playing open highway one night. Took back roads home using a brite little pocket lite. Dealer actually replaced them all and I left with a rubber FXDL.👍👋

Thats so great that you and your wife can enjoy riding your bikes together It is wise to focus on good spark plug wires and spark plugs I take this very seriously on any of my vehicles. Crank your engine over and make sure you are getting a BLUE spark. Many people are operating engines on a red spark and a red spark will run an engine, but until you have a blue spark your ignition is not right You can get a good blue spark at your plug wire coming from your coil, but does it reduce to red at the spark plug electrodes. Thats why you test the spar plug of your choice for blue spark while cranking your engine over. Also for you bikers that ride at night that led headlight may be a good investment
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
That's very true, and it is something that is too often overlooked!
@EarlGuyton4254 жыл бұрын
@@GixxerFooI checed out the price for screaming eagle wires and spark plugs on eaby and found them to be reasonably priced. I may buy these for y harleys when I need them in the future. And yes, a blue spar at the plug electrodes being checked is something I have never seen any popular harley tech video even check or mention, but many times it will be claimed the carburetor is too rich, when in reality a weaker red spark will leave behind unburned fuel and cause a plug to be black. Too many adjustments are made without considering all factors
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
You really know your stuff, the core of the wire may be the same as stock but the thicker insulation results in less loss to the plug! SE plug wires really aren't that expensive of an upgrade. I think l paid 30 bucks for a set at the dealer. Locally owned and good people there.
@EarlGuyton4254 жыл бұрын
@@GixxerFooOh yes, quality does matter very much. Many of your lesser plug wires actually jump spark to metal areas. Heres something that will make you laugh It was in 1972 I owned a 64 ford galaxy with a 352 V8 and it ran good, but one night I had it running to check something and in the dark ot looked like one hundred flickering christmas lights. Those eight wires were jumping spark from the distributor all the way to the plugs and I never knew this. Sometimes you have to spend some more money to get good things, and you have to decipher because sometimes many things are priced higher when they are worse. Heres another thing most arent aware of and mechanics of today arent even taught this. You have your cold version and hot plug version for any and all gasoline engines The fatter electrode is the cold plug intended for longer driving and riding and trips as to where the hot very has the smaller electrodes for local and for vehicles only used for local operation. A well known harley evo owner that him and his wife travel expained to me his spark plug electrodes would be white and fail on long trips. He showed a picture of these in his video. I informed hi he was using a hot plug and looked up the HD cold plug for the evo harleys with fatter electrodes for longer distance operation. This also is never mentioned in all these tech videos.

@@GixxerFoo This does not apply to the subject matter at hand, but because I lie you as a person I wanted to let you now my plan for my next video. It is to explain how that the twin cam from 1999 up until the M8 is better as for as longevity and in strength from any earlier harley engine pertaining to the crank pin which is pressed into the flywheel and the shafts which are pressed in is stronger and fool proof and that SS and all of there claims is absolute LIES I have to mentally be in where I can best explain chronological order and not be busy and be relaxed

My 5th bike and probably my last is a 2010 Heritage. It is a stage two bike. Every part on the bike is HD. On this bike I wanted to keep it all Harley-Davidson. I even have the SE Pro tuner (orange one ). So every piece I added to the bike which is a bunch, all came from the dealers inventory. Even my slip on exhaust is stock that were modified by American Custom Exhaust. The best sound of any HD you will hear. Makes those Rinehart crap the dealers push sound like tin cans.

@GixxerFoo2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I appreciate it! The led bulbs aren't bad, they have shoulder you'll have to grind down to make them fit in the stock housing. The LED headlight doesn't cause any problems but the bulbs will hyper flash on the signal arrow like the bulb is out. You will have a code but it doesn't throw a light and you'll only see it if you scan the ecm. Other than that they work great and it's a cheap alternative to LED inserts.

Not a bad idea at all, some air cleaners do make a difference depending how much power your build is making.

I love the air filter set up you have - what is that? Do you have a rain cover also?

Thank you! That is the Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather, they do come with a rain sock. Also available in black too, they are on the Harley website under the Screamin Eagle Parts.

Great idea upgrading the wires and plugs.... on Ultra.
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
The wires really aren't that expensive and it dresses up the look quite nicely.

Doc Harley states stick with the original spark plug wires. The FAT SE wires causes problems. Can you dig a little deeper and justify changing over to the SE wires other than looks?

I've heard a lot of guys talk about changing their handlebars but balk when they see the amount of work. The cheaper and easier solution can be changing the risers. Not by too much or you'll need to change out the cables as well.

I ride a 1995 1200 & it originally had buckhorn bars which I still have. I’ve had 5 different bars on my bike, now running roadster bars. It really only takes about 15 minutes to change bars, it’s simple & fun to change them out, just make sure you cover your tank & fender with towels & take your time
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
It's amazing how much the bars will change the look and feel of a bike, they really aren't bad to change out if you already have the cable and wire length you need.
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
If you're going from stock to some tall apes it can get expensive in a hurry. Biggest thing is not damaging the tank or anything else with your cables and wiring hanging off the bike.

@@GixxerFoo I was talking to a guy who had the same bike as I used to who wanted to go from beach bars to drags. It had pretty long cables as it was so he was looking at least six more inches flying around. Two months later he had it up for sale with nothing done to it.

Check your plugs and wires for continuity and any voltage drop which would indicate an open circut . Therefore , if there good , there good to go . As my man said so elocqintntly If if indicates nothing as far as torque/Horsepower is concerned . It's just Hyping Snake oil

Any good tips to install the wires on a Sportster?
@GixxerFoo4 жыл бұрын
Definitely lift the front of your take, use some dielectric grease. Especially on the coil end, it will help slide them on. Also follow your new plug wires with the old ones, that makes installing them a lot easier.

I put the black background Sunpie headlight with halo ring on my Sporty. It's so much brighter! I changed to Screaming Eagle spark plug wires too and it really does start up quicker.

It sounds crazy about the plug wires but they really do make a difference, the led headlight is one of the best upgrades out there. My stock headlight was awful.

On your front turn signals, did you have to install a resistor for proper functionality? Also, do you recall if you bought the regular model, or the "switchback" model? Love the look and the bright day time running lamp option too. Great upgrade.
@GixxerFoo3 жыл бұрын
No I just put the led bulbs in, it registers a low voltage like the bulb is out if you run the codes. But it doesn't trigger a CEL, turn signal indicator on the dash will flash indicating like the bulb is out but otherwise everything functions as normal.
