You forgot the Shekemistim. Highly trained in stealth. You can never know where they are at any time of day. I once saw a shekemist, but it was for a second and in a blink of an eye he was gone. Their home base is the Shekem, no one gets in or out, I once have managed to see the Shekem opened but it was only an image... Scary stuff man.

I think anyone following the current war against Hamas has heard about Yahalom by now, any infantry in the IDF learns about tunnel fighting, and even more so special units, but Yalamom are the number one experts in dealing with tunnels, before anyone else. And also beyond their knowledge of how to fight in them, they know how to know what's inside before going in and to also deal with certain threats without risking their lives too fast (and also have very special equipment for it, some is also very secret), as you can be sure Hamas has prepared many nasty surprises there, they also know how to destroy the tunnels once they are done there. Of course since there are so many tunnels and Yahalom is one unit, they are spread out into many different places and in each place they join other units that also know how to a tunnel and fight in the tunnels, but weren't trained for everything around that. Everything is secret and it's really hard to say that much, but judging by the results so far it seems like they are doing very well the things they were trained to do (of course it's still the beginning, there is so much more war to go)

What I don’t understand is why Israel doesn’t arm all of their civilian population because every citizen of Israel 🇮🇱 is required to do mandatory service in Israel’s IDF and are all well versed in the use of operating and handling of all kinds of weapons and firearms. I think that it would make perfect sense for the Israeli government to arm their civilian population. I sure know that it would greatly help out the IDF and remove a ton of stress from their shoulders.

While the military is mandatory, most soldiers are not combat soldiers and therefore are not trained enough to carry weapons, those who served as combat soldiers have the choice to get a license to carry a gun as a civilian (Quite easily in comparison to untrained people)

But given that Israel’s surrounded by Hezbollah , Islamic Jihad , Muslim Brotherhood, Fatah and Hamas you would think that the Israeli government would start training and handing out weapons to it’s civilian population. I know that I watched an IDF soldier have to shoot a guy trying to stab him to death at a checkpoint yesterday. I’ve also watched as Israel’s have been attacked by Palestinians carrying knives ,quietly waiting to catch a bus ride home from work at the bus stop several times now.

@@jeffi854 I think such a scenario of the Israeli government training civilians without combat background to carry weapons is in the situation of an all out existential war, because otherwise the IDF and the other Israeli security forces are having it under control. There are also downsides to having everyone carry weapons, for example if those Palestinians you mentioned who were waiting at the bus station with a knife knew they could just come without anything and then find an unsuspecting person who might be physically weaker than them (women or smaller men) and overpower them, take their weapon , they could cause more harm than trying to stab people, and it would be much harder to catch them beforehand because they'll have nothing on them. Also you have to take into account some people have underlying mental illnesses they are not aware of and if you give such a person a weapon and they flip all of a sudden, it could cause bad accidents.

@@kobi2024 I understand my brother, it’s just that I see endless, needless killings of totally innocent Israelis almost on a daily basis and know the IDF simply cannot be everywhere at once my brother. I wasn’t implying that Israelis carrying weapons openly but concealed. And of course I’m referring to those Israelis who’ve competed their mandatory service in the IDF , that those servicemen and women be armed so that they could more easily protect themselves and their families from these many terrorist attackers my brother. Given the Mullahs in Iran total control over Hamas , Hezbollah to name a few , I’ve just been brainstorming and trying to come up with ideas to better protect innocent Israeli citizens from these many surprise terrorist attacks and their attackers. Especially given the current situation in Iran and their total control over every funded terrorist organization surrounding Israel 🇮🇱 and from within Israel 🇮🇱. I just honestly think and believe that the global community is about to witness many attacks on innocent Israelis, not only inside Israel 🇮🇱 but around the world ! Especially in Europe ! The land of Israel 🇮🇱 belongs to the Israeli people, every inch ! And as we know all to well land for peace doesn’t work. And as we know Israel’s offered many times to concede land for peace and we know how those turned out as well , rockets and attacks from Judea and Samaria, as well as Gaza ! I just truly worry for the people of Israel 🇮🇱 my brother. Thoughts and prayers !

I wonder about the selection into Yahalom. You gotta pick them carefuly, otherwise you'll have civilians with knowledge of bombs and mass destruction, that might use the knowledge for the bad.

Candidates are mostly selected from the top performers of every cycle of basic trainees in the Combat Engineering Corps. The Corps already deals with explosives, but Yahalom are the explosive and engineering experts specifically intended to work with SF units, so rather than being better trained in explosives in particular they’re largely better trained in special operations in general in order to keep up with the folks in Sayeret Matkal and other places.
