I'm dark skinned and i love using the Hada labo UV white gel, especially in the winter time. It is very moisturizing without being greasy. It is also find it very easy to apply multiple layers to ensure I get sufficient UV protection. I also have not experienced any white cast using this sunscreen despite the presence of the titanium dioxide.

I tried the Skin Aqua b/c it was suggested on another of your videos. I love, love, love that stuff. I wondered what the smell was, but it's only there initially, and it's not horrible - just different. The smell does not linger. By the time it dried down, it's gone - which doesn't take long. I have super sensitive eyes and it didn't burn me. I even put it on before going out to mow the lawn, came back - my face was beet red - thought it didn't work, but after I took a shower, turns out the redness was just from being overheated - you couldn't even tell I had been in the sun for an hour. It was wonderful. It's silky soft and drys down (but is not "drying"). It feels more like a great moisturizer than a sticky sunscreen. Initially I didn't think it was going to work b/c it wasn't like other (nasty) sunscreens - boy was I wrong. I have also used it under makeup and I had no problems. Highly recommended.*Edit: I was able to find this on Amazon (USA).

I love Japanese sunscreens. I tried over 20 kinds of Japanese sunscreens and Allie is my favorite. Many sunscreens tests show that Allie is good at UVA protection. Many Japanese sunscreens exaggerate the SPF and PA. Most of the common Japanese sunscreens are over SPF50 and PA++++, some of which have apparently different sunblock effects.

Hi Dr Dray! I bought the Kiss Me Mommy sunscreen when I saw you talk about it in a video a few months ago. I brought it with me to Colombia in August for three weeks, and used a Banana Boat spf 50 for my body. You're so right, Japanese sunscreens are SUPERIOR; my legs were peeling (even though I reapplied sunscreen every 2 hours while we were out) while my face was fine. Holy grail, and the sunscreen does work well underneath makeup! Thank you for your helpful tips :)

@C Ped I ordered them off of YesStyle, and most recently back in January through Amazon. I think you're right, they must be discontinuing that sunscreen. The only major difference is the kiss me mommy came in a tube, while the UV white gel comes in a jar.

I use the Biore UV Kids and my husband uses Hado Labo. The Hado Labo UV White Gel is the only sunblock my husband has finally liked. He likes how watery it feels, sinks right in (even into his beard), and no cast. He tends to have oily/combo skin. I love the Biore UV Kids. No cast whatsoever, feels moisturizing, no stinging, and doesn't pill ever. I'm on my second bottle and lasts for a long time. My skin type is normal to dry.

Reneé the Mommy one I just reapply with my fingers. It glides on over makeup very easily. does not disturb my foundation whatsoever. Many other sunscreens I tried would make a mess, so I would need to go over with a sponge afterwards. Didn’t like the idea to carry my sponge with me everywhere, but it helped a lot. With this sunscreen I just need my fingers to reapply . It’s perfect !

Anessa looks very good on the skin after application. It is like some invisible primer. However it is a bitch to wash off, which makes it very water/sweat resistant but also leaves a very uncomfortable feeling on the hands all day after application unless you wash it off with makeup remover etc. Also, it tends to be quite dry so I use it on top of the very emollient Altruist, especially on the T-zone and places where you do not want too much shine, and treat it as an extra layer of sun protection.

@@jiranma That sounds similar to Bioré Watery Gel that has a very tacky feel and very waterproof. You should do double cleansing using a cleansing oil whenever you use waterproof sunscreens so they're completely removed at the end of the day.

I liked that Hada Labo UV White Gel, but the Kose Suncut UV Gel (160 g) is slightly. It’s even more moisturizing and applies better. Also, I hate products in tubs. It feels unsanitary.

I wish I'd have paid attention to Dr. Dray's advice when we went to Cambodia this past February! I did grab a tube when I was in a grocery store there. It was a 3 oz tube for only $3.00! I wish I'd have grabbed a few more! I did order the Skin Aqua from Amazon yesterday. Can't wait to give a try. I have been on the search for a sunscreen to use under my makeup, and have been failing! I now have several tubes of greasy (even though the label said it wasn't!) that I will have to use on other areas. I just ordered the Skin Aqua. Should I put that on before my moosturizer??

Mineral frangrance free : Curel . It’s great for sensitive skin, but it’s a little bit heavier than the chemical ones. I personally prefer anessa for long outdoor exposure and la roche poche for daily use under make up.

The "mommy" sunscreen and biore kids ones are fantastic for my skin. They are my first layer of sunscreen, then I follow up with a tinted (American) physical sunscreen. (Note: I have SUPER dry skin, Montana is dry dry dry, and I am of Hispanic descent. Medium tan, olive skin color) Also, both super great under makeup!

@@anag1913 for summer I use elta me UV clear, I say summer because it is a little too matte and drying for winter. For winter, elta md UV Elements. It's super moisturizing. On top of that I use either Mac powder foundation OR mabeylline powder.

@@katxfish yes I do, I use serums, moisturizers, let them sit while I brush my teeth. And start with sunscreen, make Coffee, use second suncreen. Brush hair start makeup. So far no problems with them under makeup!

Hi dr Dray. Thank you for the recommendations. The texture of Japanese sunscreens cannot be beaten. However, unfortunately they don't disclose PPD rating. 4 stars means 16 plus but that could mean 17 or 40. European sunscreens while not so elegant often display their PPD rating. I wish Japanese ones did the same.

Dear dr. Dray hi from Greece! Because of the strong sun here, there are many anti dark spots sunscreens sold in Greece. For example there is a French brand called Ducray which is popular for their antispot sunscreen Ducray-Melascreen-UV-Light-Cream-Dry-Touch-Brown-Spots-Normal-to-Combination-Skin-SPF50 But many brands have anti dark spots sunscreens. As far I have seen you haven’t mentioned any anti dark spot sunscreen and I am just curious if they really work. What is your opinion about these and their ingredients? Thank you very much for all the valuable information you are giving us!

I bought the Skin Aqua UV Gel omg... I love it. It's truly everything I needed. I use on top of the La Roche Posay Double repair moisturizer. No cast, doesn't feel drying at all probably because of la roche underneath and it's not irritating whatsoever. My search for a good daily sunscreen might be over. Finally.

korean mineral sunscreen I use: ETUDE HOUSE Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk It has the finely milled minerals that doesn't leave a visible white cast and dries down to a "airy" comfortable finish. I find it competes with much more expensive sunscreens on the US market but is much cheaper which is better for everyday use. It has a light scent which I am very scent sensitive and it doesn't trigger any migraines or irritate my rosacea. The scent could still be too much for somebody more sensitive than myself.
