@@oh0my in most of the local pastizzi shop throughout all of malta which the shops are usually called sphinx (you can find them in Cospicua, Rahal Gdid, Fgura, Has Zabbar, Marsaskala and loads more places) and you will find almost in every locality a place which they sell pastizzi, and also the best pastizi are the traditional one, not the round ones that they tried ... and for the best pastizzi there is a shop in rabat(next to mdina) it's called crystal palace, it is also knows as "tas serkin" if you ask any local they will tell you were it is , maybe they are a bit more expensive 50-60c but im not 100% sure. hope this helps :)

@@NehajThak It depends what you are after and which area you are staying .. you should try for sure maltese traditional dishes like fenek moqli (fried rabbit) and stuffat tal bebbux (snails in traditional maltese tomatoes sauce) which sounds not apetiting because it has snails in it but its really really good. and there is a restaurant in Mgarr but i forgot there name which serves these maltese dishes and there is another one in Senglea tal Barklor (tried and tested myself) :) and it depends on what you are after, there are some good restaurants in marsaxlokk (fisherman's village) which specializes in fresh fish, and then for me there are some good all around restaurants in Kottonera area (the three Cities) ,mostly Senglea and Birgu waterfront. and don't forget to try the local pastizzi (my fav the ricotta ones :P ) which you can find them almost everywhere, and the best ones are bought from local small pastizerias .

4:10 that is called "pastizz tax-xema" which translates to wax pastizz. Then there is the more traditional variety simply known as "pastizz" or "pastizz tal-isfiljurata" which is made out of a more flaky pastry. I'm Maltese by the way and justed happened to stumble upon your channel. Great stuff & keep up the good work.

quick tip from a local :) Country roads like the one you drove through are normally used by farmers to get to/from their fields. There are usually better arterial roads around to get you to your destination, but if you have to drive through a country road make sure to do so very carefully and slowly especially near bends where you can't see what's ahead, as you can easily find someone driving at you in the opposite direction :)

You guys went for classic tourist stuff, food wise. You should ask the locals where they eat. There are many places that look like they fall apart but have amazing food.

Exactly. I m Maltese and what they ate is not authentic Maltese cuusine. Should try restaurants in villages like Mgarr, Bahrija and Dingli. Nothing posh but definitely traditional food.

As im from Malta my favorite traditional food is the Rabbit because even in the summer you can eat , You paid too much for the parking as even with 50 cents he will be ok . The maltese sausage has alot of herbs and spices . I love seeing videos about My home country and it very historic , well Thank you its a very good video!

I was in Malta again last month :) Gotta love their food! You over-payed for a lot of what you tried though! 95c for a pastizzi is steeeeep! They're usually 30-40c!

I've not eaten in 2 days, because I can't get to a store as I was SOOOO sick; no groceries...so that pizza made me ever the MORE HUNGRY! LOL! I'm going to get my fatigued tail end up at this hour of 3:30, shower & drive to the 24 hour grocery store...to get some food. WE ONLY WENT ONE PLACE OUR ENTIRE MARRIAGE. OUR SWEET DAUGHTER & MY ADORABLE SON-IN-LAW; SENT US TO LAHAINA, MAUI HAWAII, FOR OUR 30TH SURPRISE ANNIVERSARY!! OMGOSH WERE THOSE 6 DAYS EVER SO MUCH FUN!! ALL THEY TOLD US WAS TO PACK MY BIKINI, OUR SWIMSUITS & GO HAVE FUN!! WEXHADCNO.IDEA "WHERE" WE WERE GOING...UNTIL WE HIT THE AIRPORT!! I'M SOOO GRATEFUL THEY DID THIS FOR US! WE'D PLANNED TO RETURNING THERE ON OUR RUBY "40TH" ANNIVERSARY TO RENEW OUR WEDDING VOWS ON A BEAUTIFUL BEACH BLUFF, ME WEARING A HIBISCUS HAWAIIAN PRINT OR A WOODY CAR, HAWAIIAN PRINT SARONG, & MATCHING BIKINI TOP, & MY HUSBAND... A PAIR OF WHITE JEANS & A HAWAIIAN SHIRT THAT MATCHED MY SARONG & BIKINI TOP, & US BAREFOOT...ON THE SAND & GRASS BLUFF , OVERLOOKING THE BEAUTIFUL SUNDET OF LAHAINA, MAUI HAWAII, ABOVE THE KAANAPALI BEACH. SADLY WE DUDNT GET TO DO SO...AS HE PASSED AWAY ON OUR 39 WEDDING ANNIVERSARY...A YEAR BEFORE OUR TRIP...OF OUR 40TH RUBY ANNIVERSARY. HE SHOCKED US! HE'D JUST BEEN VERY TIRED...WE THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE HE ALWAYS WORKED SOOO MANY LONG HOURS & SOOOO HARD, US NEVER KNOWING HE WAS TERMINALLY SICK! IT WAS DURING A "ROUTINE " COLONOSCOPY THAT HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 COLON CANCER, WITH A FIST SIZE TUMOR , LODGED WITHIN HIS COLON WALL. A PETSCAN HOURS LATER, AFTER THEY SENT US TO EMERGENCY...SHOWED HE HAD CANCER 4 PLACES IN HIS LIVER, A SPOT IN HIS PANCREAS & A SPOT IN HIS BRAIN. THEY GAVE HIM 30 MONTHS TO LIVE. NOBODY COULD BELIEVE IT! HE'D ONLY BEEN NOT FEELING WELL FOR A WEEK. HECWAS SEVERLY FATIGUED & HE KEPT SAYING HIS HANDS & HIS FEET HURT HIM. UP TO THIS POINT, I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS HOME FOREVER WITH AN INOPERABLE BACK/SPINAL INJURY... FROM A PREVIOUS CAR ACCIDENT WHICH WE WON & SETTLED OUT OF COURT...BUT I COULD NOT HAVE BACK SURGERY...BECAUSE ID OF DIED. IT WAS TOO RISKY & WAAAY TOO COMPLICATED...NINE DIFFRENT DOCTORS ALL SAID THE SAME THING. I JUST LIVED THE BEST I KNEW HOW...IM A TOUGH COOKIE...BUT ALL OF WHAT HAPPENED YEARS LATER...SO MANY I LOVED DIEING...HAS BEEN WAAAAAY TOO MUCH FOR MY HEART TO BEAR...I'M STILL PROCESSING IT ALL. I'M SO BROKEN HEARTED 💔😢😭😭😭💔💔💔. I DO ALL I CAN R.TO HELP OTHERS...KEEPING MY MIND OFF THE PAINFUL HEARTBREAK. I TRY & KEEP BUSY & LOOK AT THINGS THAT NAKE ME SMILE, GIGGLE IF POSSIBLE...AND YOUR VIDEO WAS ONE OF THOSE HAPPY THINGS THST MADE ME SMILE HUGE! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!! MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY 21 MONTHS LATER OF THE 30 MONTHS THEY GAVE HIM...AFTER A BRAVE, 💪🏽STRONG, VALIENT FIGHT TO "LIVE". I GATHER MUCH JOY, KNOWING SOOOOO MANY I LOVE; ARE TOGETHER IN HEAVEN...NO LONGER SUFFERING, & ARE WITH EACH OTHER WATCHING IVER US...WITH JESUS...HAVING THE TIME OF THEIR AFTER-LIFE...DOING EVERYTHING & ANYTHING THEY WANT. 🙂🙃🙂 WE ARE THE SAD ONES...THEY ARE NOT. Johnhace12, you're right about the Pastizzi....those they bought are called (literally translated) WAX PASTIZZI....they are good also but we Maltese prefer the ones you probably bought.

This video made my heart happy. I'm Maltese and this just made me happy. I just wanted to mention a few things that you guys could have enjoyed more. The Pastizzi that you ate arent the original. They are similar but the ones that you buy from literally shops in the streets are way much better. Especially the peas one. Also , the pastini. If you guys bought them from a simple grocer , you could have got the maltese traditional ones with sugar paper and peanuts/almonds on top which come with a cherry on top aswell if you prefer that. Also the rabbit with gravy is just one of our favourite dishes EVER. Thats the maltese traditional Rabbit stew that you could have got with potatoes as well. Valletta has great stuff but if i where you , i would have visited some villages aswell because they really hold onto tradition and keep the recipes very old school. The best time you should have come to malta is during the summer so you could experience the village / city feasts. Those are the best thing ever.

It's weird, I stood at almost the same places as you guys back in februrary. I did not enjoy Malta that much. The roads, the public transports.. But the food was great, and Gozo is a beautiful little island.
