I guarantee, Cymbalta has a stake in this. Cymbalta is being pushed extremely hard outside the us market, and it was pushed on me for mild anxiety here in the uae. If you are willing to take the risk of being curled up in a ball on a bathroom floor thinking you are about to die, that your body is shutting down after missing a dose for only 6 hours-go ahead and take that chance. I’m a skeptic who has always had faith in pharmacology. Cymbalta is not the answer though. I have been off it for almost 2 years and I STILL have shocks of terror that last hours. ITS NOT JUST ME. PLEASW DO YOUR RESEARCH AND DONT JUST ACCEPT THE FIRST SUGGESTION. THE SAD FACT IS-THAT IS OFTEN THE PILL YOUR DOCTOR GETS PAID MOST TO PROMOTE. THANK YOU for Using the BRAND name because it’s easier to remember (for non professionals). We have heard those names before and we know our insurance will give us the generic regardless. What do you think of the new kid on the block: Trintillix? I’d Love a list for anxiety meds too. And why Buspar would be indicated and preferred for some folks.
@zndxt19702 жыл бұрын
I took Trintillix for about 2 months and it made me very angry. I beat up a long time friend until he was unconscious and with a broken nose... I'm known for being a kind guy who wouldn't hurt a fly so this medication pretty much almost ruined my life. Escitalopram works really great for me but gives me sexual side effects :/ I really wish it didn't cause that was the one I was on before Trintillix and it worked very well but the sexual side effects were impacting my relationship with my girlfriend. It's not fun being aroused only a couple days a week when normally I would be aroused pretty much every day once or twice at least.

Very good video! The only aspect I don't agree on is that Sertraline has more impact on Libido than Escitalopram, because in every single Metastudy Sertraline and Fluoxetine have a lower proportion of people who got SSRI induced sexual side effects than Paroxetine, Escitalopram and Citalopram. Thus, I would rather suggest to take Sertraline than Escitalopram unless the patient has a severe generalized anxiety disorder.
@Bilmonis Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. The escitalopram at low dose gave me the worst sexual dysfunction among the 5 antidepressants I've tried. Very disturbing, and one major reason why I stopped taking it. Now I'm on sertraline, and the effect on sex is not too bad. Works very well on anxiety.

Had prozac (fluoxetine) when i was 16. Made me need rest more during the daytime and felt like a zombie. Had a suicide attempt then was on paroxetine, attempted suicide again, then on venlafaxine which made me keep involuntarily yawning. Came off meds no problem each time. Got binge eating problem after and psychiatrist put me on fluoxetine. Insomnia is always a feature in episodes and on these meds. Fluoxetine didn't work again although they kept increasing dosage. Then on citalopram but it caused gastric problems and still needed zolpidem to sleep. Switched to escitalopram which finally was the drug to combat depression, insomnia and binge eating! Brilliant. After a decade on it i now have alopecia areata. Discussed with gp that i thought escitalopram might be causing it. Couldn't get off escitalopram even though i tried tapering in past. Its hard to deal with the withdrawals of painful electrical zaps head to foot pretty much every few mins. Taking fluoxetine and pregablin to try to get off escitalopram. Hoping it works. I smoke heavily but they won't prescribe wellbupropen. Not sure why.

I can actually feel the numbness on my brain. No psychiatrist can help and give me a fix or know what to do. For 2 years of withdrawal hell. Just so you know it can be hell. So be careful. I was on a high dose though. I have met many other people who wish they never started effexor. I tried commiting suicide from the withdrawals. What do you think about taking Wellbutrin in the morning and a low dose of Mirtazapine in the evening, if you suffer from both, fatigue and low motivation, but also sleep disorders?
@Tobitube932 жыл бұрын
@Natalie Hey, what kind of meds are you on right now if I may ask? Anyway, to my experience with these meds: I started taking 150mg Bupropion XL in January 2021, the first days I slept very little, like 1-3 hours a day. But at this point it didn't bother me because I still felt a lot more energetic then usually (was already awake before the alarm rings and could easily get up then, which is very unusual for me), also I became very tired in the evening of course, which made it easier to go to bed early. At this time I also was more sensitive to caffeine, but that and the poor sleep faded within the first weeks. Though it took me still longer to fall asleep then before bupropion. The first time I noticed a significant improvement of my wellbeing was after a bit less then 2 weeks, from that point on everything felt "easier", I became more communicative and felt way more energetic and generally didn't worry about unnecessary stuff all the time. The energy and also the increased trouble falling asleep slowly faded over the year, but not entirerly. I still had to take powernaps several times a day even in the beginning though, but don't know exactly what the cause for that is, probably a burnout-like condition due to cronic stress, but the mood lift stayed all the time! So it did a great job in preventing me from spiraling into negativity and greatly improved my emotional dysregulation, which I always have struggled with. I also have mirtazapine, but decided not to take it daily because I've often read that it's BRUTAL to get off of it... So I take about 3.75mg about once a week and can say it definitely is intense. Even this small dose (1/4 pill) makes me feel really tired and dizzy and it's very easy to fall asleep on it. It also raises the appetite drastically though and even the next day I tend to eat more and still feel a bit dizzy (+ I sleep longer and have trouble to get out of bed). Generally with mirtazapine I would carefully consider taking it when you have low energy because I would say its sedating effect outweighs the energizing effect of the bupropion, making you even more sluggish all in all. A higher dose (30mg+) makes you paradoxically more energized instead of tired, but then it doesn't help well for sleeping obviously. Another thing: From what I've read (only comments as source, take it with a grain of salt) bupropion seems to work a bit different for people with ADHD. Do you also have ADHD? For me it's the case that I found out having it last year and heavily underestimated the impact (like 80% of untreated patients have depression/ anxiety and sleeping issues!), being probably one of the root causes for my issues. Especially women are severely underdiagnosed because the symptoms aren't that obvious and then get the wrong treatment or are even not taken seriously by some docs, saying it's "only anxiety" or something and prescribe them wrong medication like SSRIs. Only a tip to do some research if you can identify with some symptoms, if not, sorry to bother you with this unnecessary information. Some patients write that starting bupropion made their anxiety worse or that they are more irritable in the beginning, but for me it was exactly the opposite. But the downside for me (seems to be rare) is that my ambition to be productive and start comlicated tasks suffered, because I didn't "care enough" anymore, maybe because last minute pressure was a big motivator for me. Probably the med took away my anxiety and the pressure to get the work done. But like I said, that seems to be not very common, others reported the opposite effect. All in all bupropion really helped me improving my wellbeing and I can definitely recommend it. Important to know is that I always have stayed on the initial dose of 150mg, so I don't know how 300 or 450mg would have affected me, maybe it could have worked way better with energy etc. As a sleeping aid melatonin works really well for me, as far as I know you can also take it daily without becoming dependent on it. I hope that I could help you with this information and wish you good luck tomorrow, if you have further questions feel free to ask :)

Best antidepressant? NARDIL (Phenelzine) by far....also, contrary to common belief, very safe. The medical community is still led astray by false info about the MAOIs, which has been repeatedly debunked.
@lindafarnham99933 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, but no one will prescribe it.
@anlace34473 жыл бұрын
@@lindafarnham9993 GPs generally will prescribe it, so long as the patient is mature, educated about the medication, and agrees to adhere to the (virtually unnoticeable) MAOI diet. In fact, when it is appropriate, doctors have an obligation to prescribe it; their job is to provide the best possible treatment that ameliorates a patient's suffering. Now SSRI monotherapy may work well for those who have "situational" depression (which in all honesty would probably respond just as well to CBT), but rarely does anything for those with endogenous depression/anxiety etc. It's unfortunate, but in terms of efficacy with antidepressants we see an inverse relationship: MAOIs, the most effective, TCAs second , and SSRIs, SNRIs etc the least effective. I have seen people who have trialed SSRIs, TCAs, in combination with atypicals etc, for years with little relief; they remain very ill, often bed ridden, however after 6 or 8 weeks on Phenelzine they are out of bed, working, studying, socializing, etc.

Since 1993, I have been on Paxil 30 mgs/ day and I hate it. It makes me jittery, so I still have to take benzodiazepines for anxiety and my current Dr. will only allow me a tiny dose/day. All of the Drs. that I have been to have been more worried about CTA, than what gives me the most relief from my disease.

@@lindafarnham9993 No problems. Naturally I would advise a washout period and start the Nardil again. Unfortunately, Paroxetine can have a pretty bad discontinuation syndrome. Now, you were on Nardil for years, and it helped you, and clearly the Paxil is not. If your current doctor knows this, and still will not allow you to return to Nardil I would absolutely try another doctor... there is a list of "MAOI" doctors who will prescribe. Hi, i need some advice. I recently completed a 21 day inpatient rehab for alcholism and benzo addiction. They cut me off cold turkey and when i was released was a nervous wreck. Eventually my anxiety started to subside but was hit with major depression. I went to a local dr who precribed me wellbutrin during the am and lexapro during the pm. Ive only been on them for 2 weeks so i havent really felt much except some rebound anxiety during the day (maybe the welbutrin?) On top of this, i releaped twice since then on wine and was told this could increase my chance of a seizure. Another doc i spoke with said that i should stay on both if i can remain sober since theyre both low dose (wellbutrin 150xl, ledxapro 10mg). Complicating things, im still titrating down on valium to complete my benzo taper, im down to about 10mg a day.
@ErikRichardsonDO4 жыл бұрын
Wow, that’s a complex issue for sure. I can’t give any specific advice for you unfortunately. Definitely a good discussion to have with your doctor. Some general information that can help though, Wellbutrin can make anxiety a little worse in some. It also can lower your seizure threshold. In your case with coming off of alcohol and seizures due to that I don’t have much experience to say the effect that Wellbutrin can have. That being said Wellbutrin can help some with addiction issues so there is possibly some benefit there. You may benefit from seeing somebody who specializes in addictions. Good luck and keep working hard on your sobriety. It will be worth it!
