Michael Jackson is famous for being one of the most influential and successful entertainers in history. His fame grew primarily through his groundbreaking contributions to music, dance, and pop culture. Here are a few key reasons why he's so iconic:
Music Innovations: Michael Jackson revolutionized pop music with albums like Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995). Thriller is still the best-selling album of all time, and his music crossed over multiple genres-pop, rock, R&B, and dance.
Groundbreaking Music Videos: His music videos were mini-movies that helped transform the music video industry. His video for Thriller is especially famous, featuring incredible dance choreography and a narrative that turned the format into an art form.
Signature Dance Moves: Michael Jackson's dance style-especially the moonwalk-became synonymous with his persona. His innovative moves like the moonwalk, robot, and spin are still iconic in the world of dance today.
Cultural Influence: He was a major figure in the popularization of African American artists in mainstream pop music, especially in the '80s and '90s. He broke racial barriers, especially on platforms like MTV, which initially had limited Black artists in rotation.
Charity Work: MJ was also known for his philanthropic efforts. He donated millions to various causes and supported charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Stage Presence & Live Performances: His concerts were legendary. His ability to captivate audiences with his energy, charisma, and vocal talent made him one of the greatest live performers in history.
Global Appeal: His music and persona resonated with people from all over the world, making him a global icon and a cultural phenomenon.
His combination of musical genius, groundbreaking visuals, and cultural impact helped shape the course of pop music and entertainment for decades. He made world wide hits with songs like Billie Jean, Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Black Or White, They Don't Really Care About us and Beat It. But what are his 5 best albums?

OMG! The full, "new-at-the-time" album on the second disc of "History" is the most underrated, under-discovered gem in the Michale Jackson catalogue, perhaps the 90s. I hope you speak of "Stranger in Moscow." Beautiful. And, well, everything. Love the duet with Janet. Michael really spills his guts on this one in grand fashion, and very few speak of it. Looking forward to it! (I even snagged the rare vinyl. Doesn't sound all the hot tho.)

The vinyl isn’t good? So happy I went for the CD in that case!

"Off the Wall" is very good, but I feel the quality really drops after the title track. "History" is great and severely underrated: Scream, They Don't Care About Us, Stranger in Moscow, Earth Song, & You Are Not Alone are fantastic songs. I think the B-side of "Bad" is the best side of music Michael ever did. Seriously though, just what a brilliant artist. Gone too soon.

Hi, enjoy the videos and watch regulary. Agree with the choices, must have missed your trinity video and that's one I've mentioned myself also (Nevermind, Nirvana maybe). Thriller line up is almost unbeatable for tracks.

the Jacksons Destiny and Truimph albums and Off The Wall/Thriller. I do like Dangerous also.

Great list. It may sound sacrilegious but I wouldn’t hate it if Off the Wall and Thriller were reversed.

He was found innocent in a court of law?

He was acquitted and even a cursory overview of the details of the case suggest there were MANY holes in said cases. Not to mention the billion dollar media industry that wanted to make money off of the “story of the century” if he were to be found guilty. Even journalists of the time have since publicly stated the media reported lies and misinformation for the money.
