Just spent a little time today on my day off making a deck with spoilers from the next set and I thought this video would be a great exercise to see how many if any basic mistakes I am making and I couldn’t help but notice you made a good point on a particular card in this theory deck on rule #4. The deck in theory is sapphire/steel floodborn using spoilers of the next set and my biggest mistake seems to be including 4 jasmine disguised in the build but my current thought process and counter point is I know she’s not a great card but I don’t current have something better for that particular slot. As a midranged without too many 3 lore questers I found importance in trying to make sure most of my slots quests for 2 not 1 so that would rule out something like Hercules and only give me options like steel lilo which I like the 3/3 body over the 4/2 body and the next option for 3 ink 2 questers in my ink colors would be kristoff which is the same exact body that can’t shift into jasmine which this deck is a huge test between things like her/grandfather clock that was just spoiled/aurora/ and the prince never gives up to try to make it hard to remove my stuff but because a lot of things besides giant fairy and 2 copies of floodborn hook have low power I really need to make sure I can keep up a decent ink threat otherwise I plan to lose races against things with more 3 lore quest drops however I completely see your point about trying to keep the power level of your cards high and not use things just because they fit a theme. All I can hope for are better options to be in the next set to help round out my curve completely.

Ment to say I want to try to keep up a decent quest threat but it’s late at night so I missed read where I said I wanted to keep up a good ink threat which doesn’t quite make sense for what I was saying.

@@mikeburns6213Do you have a list online (On Lorcania, for example) that I could look at? In Sapphire/Steel, Mickey Mouse Detective is probably my favorite 3-drop. Tinker Bell, Tiny Tactician has also been growing on me because shifting a Giant Fairy is very powerful. Overall, if you need a 2-quester in your 3-drop spot, then Jasmine is perfectly acceptable. Following through on your gameplan is the most important thing.

From all the mistakes, hands down, the most important is the last one. I'm running an Amathyst/Zaphire Tamatoa and even it works OK, I found that Maleficien one drop was not doing anything except getting some Lore in the early game, and even it is an awesome card, it just does not fit the whole Plan of the deck. I changed for Rafikis and now the deck works much better :)

What is a solid curve to have in a deck or does it really depend on the deck? Any general recommendations?
@GeniusYoshi
@GeniusYoshi 9 ай бұрын
It depends on the deck. I would recommend that you build your first 48 as the curve that you actually want to play, then fill in the last 12 inkable slots with 4-7ink inkable cards.These are your ink early, play as late topdecks kind of cards.

I think that the biggest mistake is putting a card without knowing its purpose... like "that person is using it so i put it too" even if there is no synergy or value in adding it [a friend of mine is playing a pseudo-rafikiloop with the eight cost elsa and none of us can figure out why but "it's a strong ametist card, why not..." and then he just wastes a turn to play her

Hehe, I agree. That is especially a big problem with all the net-decks available. Thanks for sharing!

What is the biggest mistake that you made building a lorcana deck?

I think overall these are good points to make, except for #1. I do think running 4 copies of everything is a good starting point, and most cards in your deck should be full playsets. Running fewer than 4 of a card should be an exception, not a piece of starting advice. Ursula's Cauldron is a great example of a card you really don't want more than 1 or maybe 2 of in a deck, but Spirit of Winter you absolutely want to run as many copies as possible.

Running 4 copies of each card as default is a mistake and Genius Yoshi is completely right. This video is a guide about "why your decks are not optimal" not a video about "first steps in deck building" If your deck only runs full Sets, you cannot expect to play competitive.

Cards like Elsa, Spirit of Winter are deck building traps. When you get to land one, it is high impact and feels really good, so you want to see more of it. We pay less attention to the games when we are stuck with 2 in hand and can't cast her. "I just didn't draw well" is an easy answer, but its all about improving our odds. With that said, there may be decks that want to run her 4-of, but it should be questioned every time we put a card in.

@@GeniusYoshi if you go up against a control deck with only two Spirits of Winter, you are going to lose. Amethyst has plenty of card draw to help mitigate the fact that Spirit of Winter might be "stuck in your hand".

@@CarlosRoigBCN I routinely play competitively with "oops all playsets". I went 3-3 in a large online tournament. Sure, I didn't make top 8, but I would argue my losses were more due to poor match-ups for my color pair.

@@werothegreatCongratulations on the good tournament results! Control-Control is an infamous matchup where (typically) the person who goes over the top will win. If decks keep on pushing each other, it can lead to them being too slow or ill prepared for the other matchups. It is true that you can mitigate the 'getting stuck' with card draw and a careful partial mulligan.

About the mistake #2 mistake, that is the reason why i am playing A Whole New World in my Amber/steel Deck. That's a card that needs a correct activation timing depending on card advantage, because most of the time it favours your opponent more than yourself. I know, in terms of raw card advantage it's good, but it becomes bad when you are forced to play it because you are in a bad spot. It's either a help for the opponent or a winmore, so most of the time AWNW is just stuck in your hand doing nothing and you cant even ink it. I hope better songs will come out in RotF.
@GeniusYoshi
@GeniusYoshi 9 ай бұрын
Allow me to disagree on AWholeNewWorld. I think that the card is extremely powerful, but you wany to be careful about timing. You want to be able to sing it with full ink available so that you are the first one to make use of the fresh set of cards. Alternately, if you can empty your hand and sing it while your opponent has 3-4 cards in hand, you can gain a significant card advantage. Hard-casting it for 5 and passing the turn will generally leave you in a bad spot. You can check my "Tier1, Ariel Singer" deck as an example.

To many cards in a deck. Saw some decks with 70-80 cards it. There goes your consistency.

Agreed! Unless the is a very specific reason to play more (looking at you mill deck ;) ), cutting to exactly 60 is the way to go!
