There are four policy card slots you can permanently add to your government by building four particular wonders. Unlocked by Printing(wildcard) Economics(economic) Astronomy(diplomatic) Castles(military). Even building one of them is a huge advantage.

top 5 mistakes :DD. I'll give you a top tip too. in the beginning you don't just wander off with the warrior, but only go 10 tiles in every direction from the capital. taking your warrior away is a good way to end with a camp that keeps spawning on your city.

Exactly. This guy is clearly not a deity level player. Proably around King/Immortal at best. Just look at how he delays his settler despite having 0 neighbours, and invests into an army that he never uses to invade the city states with. Then goes about and talks about how important early production is, while simultaneously showing how he wasts a ton of it on stuff that serves no purpose. Lol.

Expand or die. I prefer to fast expand as much as possible and focus on boosting housing and production and making sure the cities have enough amenities. Obviously, you have to have a strong enough military to do so. Liang is my favorite early governer.

Play Gligamesh, play with Barbarians on. Build lots of War carts and be hyper agressive. Have about 20 other civs. As you take them over buy a builder and switch URuk to building wonders. All other cities build carts. Go fast get about 25 carts, Soon carts will be obsolete

What map are you playing? I almost never get this much room to expand. On this map early Pingala is a lousy choice. Most games you are going to have an early war to deal with and you will want Pingala to allow you to rush the techs you need to win that war.

Usually you cant rely on the techs provided by Pingala to win early wars, unless you play on a low difficulty. The Deity (even Immortal) level AI will out tech you regardless of what you do. At that level you win wars by being a tactically good player, or by abusing certain mechanics. Or even rushing before their tech advantage gets pronounced.
@jyutzler
@jyutzler Жыл бұрын
@@samuelhakansson6680 Sure you can, you just have to rush the right things. If you have an early UU and early war is coming, you need to get there as quickly as possible. The opportunity cost of writing -> campus might not be worth it when you can go straight to iron working and build warriors you can upgrade. Pingala is the only governor who will help you get there.

I've beaten it on every difficulty and can now cruise through deity without any difficulty. Here's how I do it: Immediately try to build at least 6 warriors minimum with maybe one of those warriors being a slinger you can keep garrisoned. Study mining first while a warrior scouts for villages and a natural wonder. Next study astrology and build a holy site. Upon getting your holy site, build a settler. Once the settler is finished, and you have your new city built, construct another holy site. When it's finished, build a shrine and keep doing holy site prayers until you have a prophet. Now you're protected from losing a religious victory and being invaded. Now build workers, mines and farms galore and do whatever your little heart desires in order to win.
@samuelhakansson6680
@samuelhakansson6680 Жыл бұрын
You are not a consistent Deity level player if you play it like that. As a very seasoned Deity player myself, I have been playing on that difficulty for so long that I know the ins and outs of it. The problem with your build here is that its no guarantee to get a religion going on Deity, and you may have wasted a ton of production into 6 warriors for no reason, which will seriously hurt your game. When trying to get a religion on Deity, you have to pay strong attention to great prophet point generation and the number of religions that have already been taken, in order to calculate roughly how committed you have to be to getting a prophet in time. The ideal is to have two cities with a holy site each, and if you CAN afford it, a shrine to passively get GPPs. But, often a game on Deity will have a situation where the GPPs are heavily contested and where you are generating maybe 2-3 points per turn while the weakest competitor has 5 GPPs per turns, meaning he will beat you to it. At that point you gotta do the maths, and calculate how many holy site prayers you have to do to get the prophet in time, as a shrine will lose you the race. Sometimes you even have to resort to faith buying the prophet, or chopping out the holy site prayers. Either way, there is no clear cookie cutter opening on deity if you wanna secure a religion, which is why you have to pay very close attention to the GPP meter all the time to see if you need to modify the build orders.

Yeah I have to agree. If you have faith income(and everyone should) and land a golden age monumentality, pingala has no shot against magnus with his settler upgrade combined with the ability to chop. It’s not even close. Just move magnus around wherever you need to chop and just buy settlers once he’s established. And tbh the golden age monumentality is super easy to get as long as you put a bit of thought into it. I feel like I miss it 1 in 10 games.
@samuelhakansson6680
@samuelhakansson6680 Жыл бұрын
Thats honestly a waste of a governor promotion, for two reasons. If you have that much faith that you can chain buy settlers, it means you most likely have some very high adjacency pantheons to your holy sites (desert folklore etc.). If you do, you want 4x Moksha as that will allow you to faith buy districts in your freshly settled cities. This allows you to snowball even harder if those cities are settled near desert/tundra (assuming you have the pantheon), because it will invest further into even more faith generation, allowing for even more settlers and holy sites in the settled cities. If you do NOT have massive faith from adjacency pantheons and holy site spam, it means you can usually afford a settler every 5 turns or more. Which is still nice, but you dont need Magnus in that case either. It will be even faster to settle some new city, preferably one near a food source, wait 5 turns until it hits pop 2, and buy a settler in that city instead. That way you actually save time, because you dont have to run with your settler from one of your core cities (where Magnus is located) to the frontier, but you can start settling from the frontier itself.
@samuelhakansson6680
@samuelhakansson6680 Жыл бұрын
@@ghost_tickler1575 4x Moksha is the way, not 2x Magnus. 2x Magnus is a trap that at best saves you a bit of yields in one city (from no population loss), but you lose out on the ability to faith purchase districts in freshly settled cities. This is much stronger than chopping with Magnus in new cities, if you can sustain the faith cost (which is rather easy).

@@MrDavePed Some of it is just lazy play. Pingala and Magnus are a must for most games but all of them have a role. That role is just more situational. Audience Chamber buffs governors nicely but most games it is better to go wide with Ancestral Hall, assuming the land is available.

You shouldn't really be going all too critical on early mistakes, while you showcase a lot of mistakes in your video as well. For instance, its clear that you are not a Deity level player, so you should be very careful on criticizing others. Case in point: You are playing Germany with a very high food/production start, and you have zero neighbours nearby, just city states. And you produce a scout and two slingers, then a builder, and only THEN a settler! WHY!? Scout is almost never worth it on deity, as it doesnt serve a real purpose after you scouted your neighbourhood. Double slinger would only make sense if you were to rush Archery, and that again would only make sense to do if you were planning to invade the city states for some early expansions. And if you were to do that, its much safer to get 3-4 warriors, before they get walls up (since you play on somewhere below Deity, the city state walls are not up in this case), in order to secure nearby cities and land. If you NOT to invade these city states, there is zero reason to why you are not getting your first settler up as the second thing you build once you hit population 2. Again, the scout does not really serve a purpose anymore that a slinger couldnt fullfil, and the two slingers you do have serve no purpose because you have no neighbours to defend from, and you arent using them to invade the city states anyway. GET THAT SETTLER!
