Followed your guide of their other video and installed the same wheels and tires on my 2019 xtrek MT and they have been working GREAT! Look much better and better handling in snowing days. The only thing tho I have to say is my MPG dropped about 3~5 after throwing on the new tires (from 28~30 on highway to 23~25) 🥲 still pretty good 👍 I’m also looking into them mud flaps cause the new tires do push out on the sides a little and make it super easy to get dirty. The Toyo 3 are amazing!! I have 18” rims and the Toyo’s have the sizes. 3 peak rated and genuinely superior to the stock tires in all ways… especially in the snow! I did a lift kit as well though… which allowed a larger diameter tire (1.5” bigger) and the clearance in Death Valley and the the snow storms of the Sierra were very much appreciated. I have rekgen on my truck, rallycross flaps on the Subaru… both are excellent brands that do their job. The rally flaps are softer than Rek Gen though but work!

Steel bumpers on the crosstrek just isn’t a good idea. This isn’t a body on frame vehicle so the weight plays a huge role. Put those steel bumpers on and try stopping in an emergency situation and see how dangerous it is. Definitely just not a good idea if this is a daily driver or just something that you drive on the road. Lockers and LSD are cool but even with those you just can’t turn this vehicle into an off-roading beast. Just buy a 4x4 at that point. I had a 2019 and went all out on it. Used to live right down the road from the Rubicon trail and had big plans for the crosstrek. After dropping tons of loot on it I realized that essentially the vehicle will always be limited to what it can do.

Why doesn't the donut tire work for you? I assumed that your new tires are should be the same diameter as the stock. Can you use the donut in an emergency?
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes the new tires are the same diameter as the stock ones. However it was explained to me that because Subarus have symmetrical all wheel drive, any differences in the tires will mess with the drive train when run for long periods of time. The other problem is that the donut isn’t meant to be driven over 50mph or so. The last issue is that a lot of tire shops will not stock the Toyo tires in this size so if I were to get a flat then it is unlikely that they will be able to replace the tire right away. The full size spare gives me peace of mind especially on long road trips and helps me avoid having to wait a week for a tire to ship to the shop if I ever were in that situation. I hope this helps!

Genuine question possibly looking to get a manual 2017 crosstrek and do something very similar to the wheels and tires but should I expect pre-mature wear on the transmission or would it not make that much of a difference over an extended period of time
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question and it was one of my big concerns when buying the wheels and tires. Anytime you change a car from its factory condition there is always a chance that it will cause added wear on several components. However, since the wheels/tires are about the same weight as stock (maybe slightly lighter) and the diameter hasn’t changed much then hopefully this will reduce the stress. I can’t say that it doesn’t add any wear but hopefully the extent of it is kept at a minimum based on what we pick. I’m no mechanic but that’s my take on it and I hope it helps.

I realize it’s not a 4runner, but I get 15 mpg now. Thank you for great vids.

Good question! I put these wheels and tires on the car not too long after getting the car so I hadn’t done a lot of off-roading before the new wheels and tires. However as far as on road handling, I didn’t notice much of a difference. The biggest difference to me was acceleration. Before the Crosstrek I was driving an 02 Tacoma so the handling and overall feel is a world of difference. The Crosstrek might not be as bulletproof as your 4Runner when it comes to off-road but it definitely feels tighter and more agile to drive. The fuel economy is a great bonus too! Look so cool actually, I did but roof rack on for a month then I gave up. It’s fine if you drive slow 40-60 mph, but if above 65 mph it’s so noisy and shaky and it drop about 5 mpg, that was just empty roof rack with stock tires.

Other then looks. Is there any pros or cons to going from 17 inch stock rim to 15inch rim??
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
The pros would probably be that the wheel is lighter than the stock wheel and that with a smaller wheel you can fit a thicker tire. The con is that the thicker tire is heavier (overall weight pretty much balanced out though). I hope that helps
@migueljauregui88842 жыл бұрын
What sice of wheels you got?

First step is to figure out a way to disable the super-annoying autostop feature. You also have to take your eyes off the road to even turn on/off your heat and AC (poor design).
@rivercitymetaldetecting98542 жыл бұрын
Lol, there is a button by your left knee that turns it off. You have to take your eyes off of the road to adjust temp controls. Just like has been the case since oh I dunno... decades? God forbid you do it while stopped at a redlight, or in a parking lot, etc. You can only adjust the temp controls while moving. Unwritten Subaru rule.

Thank you so much! I use a Fujifilm XT3 and more recently started using the Eterna color profile in the camera with minor tweaks in post. I use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing. There’s a bigger list of the gear I use in the description. I hope that helps.

@@EliasDelvasto does the XT3 have IBIS? I use a Canon EOS R and a Rokinon 35mm manual cine lens - both doesnt have stabilization. Lots of post production work just to make it usable. This is the beauty of filmmaking - there is no mods because you make your own rig!
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
The XT3 does not have IBIS but the newer XT4 does have IBIS so maybe that could work for you? Just make sure to do your research of course!

@@EliasDelvasto i try not to think about it too but when I can't even pass up a Prius on the freeway that kind of scares me lol. I am coming from a 2013 Ford focus se as a daily. I regret not test driving the 2.5 but at the salesman said that it's not even worth it they both drive around the same. I surely doubt that but whatever it is what it is I still have my 2020 STI I guess maybe it can borrow 50 hp from it.

Do you have any tire rub with the wheel/tire combination?
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
None! The 215 size is small enough to not have any issues. If you get into the bigger sizes (225,235) then you might start running into some rubbing issues. Especially the 235s
