I think the most disturbing story is Peralez questline. Nothing scares me more than very subtle mindcontrolling by corps (or aliens). Also watching Mr. Blue Eyes staring at you from above in the end of questline is very disturbing. And when you remember about Garry the Prophet and his speeches about blue eyed aliens… So cool.

@cyrusol Жыл бұрын
Johnny is probably right here, that it's not aliens but AI. See, when an NPC transfers data their eyes light in this blue manner. Mr. Blue Eyes is most likely a human host for a rogue AI, his eyes show a permanent data stream. Mr. Blue Eyes also strongly wants So Mi to get into space for the "cure" but you will never have confirmation that So Mi is actually cured. You receive some messages but you cannot verify that it's her. That a rogue AI would want to get in control over the Blackwall is obvious.

If someone's a superstitious goofball I guess it could be unnerving but it's no different taking out Odins eye in AC Valhalla haha, just standard mythology tropes. I somewhat disagree on the topic of Joshua Stevenson's psychological analisys. Was he a terrible person? Absolutely. Is his goal driven by self-rightousness? Probably. But this guy for once in his life chose to do something more understandable given his circumstances. He has been given hope and wants to give hope to other people. Surely that won't be the fact since the BD studio uses him as an actor that they can just edit out, delete files and the memory about him will be lost by most people. His intentions though are truly genuine, he strongly belives in the actions he's taking and regrets what he's done. He's got nothing left to lose, no better choice - the death penalty must be done one way or another. So why not benefit at least your own self-esteem and maybe slight amount of people that might be interested about the actor's background at this point? The Gottfrid and Fredrik gig is so exhaustingly brilliant. Like, I think it's safe to assume that Fredrik has some kind of cognitive problem and is most likely exploited by his father. So what to do? Killing Fredrik makes Gottfrid feel the pain his victims felt but ultimately kills someone just out of vengeful spite who a) is probably not fully aware why what he does is bad and b) is most likely not malicious. Killing Gottfrid is definitely a way to get Fredrik away from this life but rehabilitating someone by killing his father before his eyes is probably not the way to go, right? Killing both has the same problem as killing Fredrik. But not doing anything will inflict harm on others. I think from a role playing perspective you can make both of them unconscious and dump Gottfrid somewhere where no one will ever find him. But I think it's excellent writing when all of the options you are presented with are morally wrong.

I kill Fredrich and leave Gottfried to reflect on what it's like to lose a family member. My head canon says he gets zeroed later that day by the first gang who gets to him, he just became a huge liability after V broke into his office. Even if they don't, as far as he knows V could be back any moment. Death is too kind for someone like him. I think the gangs would make him suffer more than V would be able to.

the sweet dreams quest annoys me so much. Forcing us to make dumb decisions aside, when you wake up in the bathroom you must escape but you don't have anything on you except all of your cyberware because that can't be uninstalled without a ripperdoc. Upon doing this quest I had mantis blades, cyberdeck, subdermal armor, and optical camo, however, I could just combo everyone because getting shot with no armor isn't quite the bee sting. So I stealthily took out the scavs looting their bodies and breaking down the loot to craft items in case things went south. This was pure magic, I felt like a badass fighting tooth and nail to survive, yet I was a ghost. I made it to the end and was like "ok where are my things"? I read ahead and find out that all of my gear is in a locker two rooms away from the bathroom, meaning I could have gone invisible, run to the locker, get my shit and proceed to combo everyone normally. I am thankful I didn't read ahead but I imagine most other people did. The side mission just feels to short, yet it had the most amount of potential if it had more enemies and you could only get your gear from a locked room which would also be your way out.

I think Joshua was genuine in his desire to spread his newfound faith, but I think it was driven by fear rather than altruism. The guy wasted his life either through his own choices or the choices forced on him and now he's going to be executed. He needs his death to mean something to someone anywhere or else he's just another pointless casualty/statistic. That said, his faith is 100% genuine. Depending on your responses, Joshua will either die filled with religious rapture or regret and broken faith which effects the quality of the virtue. And being genuine in cyberpunk is, in its own way, the most noble thing you can do. Plus, there's no way to know if his death will be pointless if he goes through with this with his faith intact. If he helps even one person, in even the most indirect way, then that's still a person he wouldn't have been able to help if he had just been executed like normal.

I think the reason you can’t access photo mode is for lore, the studio would hate for people to pirate their product, so any media(EX: photos, video, audio) could kill the profits if sold by another party, thus, no photo mode

The quest with Stephan will actually let you get a copy of all the craftable iconic weapons in the game. All you need to do is craft them once, store them in your stash, then once you collect your stuff again you'll have the recipes back, and able to use them again

Re: Murder compos: Up here in Finland we have a company who runs a "guess the amount of drowned people" competition every midsummer. It's a weekend when it's very common that Finnish people go out to the countryside to their cabins, and quite often alcohol is involved. So they often get drunk and take to the lakes. On average 6 people a year, 79% men, have drowned on that weekend since 2015. Numbers used to be much higher before the year 2000: between 5 and 24 drowned per year from 1973 to 2000.

Oh yeah: That company raffles out a gift card between everyone who guessed correctly. The gift card is worth more the less people drowned.

I kind of like the Stefan quest. If you hit it after you are fully cybered up it can be rather awesome. You're not trapped naked and unarmed in that building full of Scavs. They're trapped in there with you. You’re Brock Samson at his most primal.

I think Joshua really did turn over a new leaf. To me, the quest is exactly about the "what now?" moment that comes after the mistakes you've made hurt other people, permanently in his case. It's an extremely uncomfortable subject and an open world game is one of the few pieces of media that can address it with you as a third party that can interact with this situation. As a religious person that gave me much to think about. I even had to take a break after that mission was over.

Oddly in the 1997 film Strange Days from which that whole XBD plot is pulled wholesale, Lenny Nero actually pointedly refuses to do business with anyone dealing in or requesting "Blackjack Clips" which is just another term for snuff clips or XBD. Part of Lenny's character arc in the film is his recognition that even if he never steps over the line to sell those, his business is still operating in the same degenerate social space and so directly supporting those who do cross that line. He is willing to sell clips in which someone is killed but he cuts out that portion and still profits from everything leading up to it anyway. It's a fairly deep look at moral gray areas vs. moral binaries.

Same. It seems like killing him there and then is letting him off easy. The way NC works he won't be around for long anyway. He also doesn't know that V is dying, so he'll live every moment wondering if V is ever planning to come back and finish the job 😂

It’s kinda funny to hear v say “murder is murder” self righteously when as v we flatline like hundreds of people over the course of the game
@Kylephibbsky9 ай бұрын
One thing about Sinnerman, is that it really fucks with your ludo-cognitive narrative. Josuah killed people during an armed robbery. Most of us, as players, would rightly dismiss him as a murderer for that. But... V? How many people has V killed in his own heists and gigs? Fuck's sake, you only encounter him because you took on a hit job on him. So, what would V actually think? Both of his faith and his quest for forgiveness. Ultimately, the way I saw it, V saw the whole thing to the end, right down to hammering in the nails because there is some part of him that hopes redemption is possible for him too.

Trivia that probably only older folks would know. Lenny Nero is the main character's name in Strange Days. A movie from 1995 that deals with snuff braindances at the start of Y2K (a cyberpunk version) I heard the name, and was like, no way would they make a nod to an obscure movie from the mid 90s..

Imagine being the scavs in Sweet Dreams, thinking you've hit the motherload. Stephan just dumped an unconscious lady full of cyberware on your doorstep. You and the chooms got it made after you chop her up, right? Then she bursts from the bathroom you tossed her in with a an monowire and a badass cyberdeck, and one way or another hacks everyone in the building to death in about four minutes.

Not gonna go into my job to much but I manage a team that works with Chat GPT. You have nothing to worry about there. It's essentially a party trick. They trained it by exposing it to millions of conversations. All it does is call back on those conversations to guess the next word in a sentence based off the prompt you give it. It seems sentient but there's nothing sentient about it. It's built to do that one thing, and that's all. Seems creepy but it doesn't have thoughts. Its a massive database with search commands.

I'll be honest, the thing I'd assume about not being able to take pictures during the crucifition isn't down to being to violent or something like implied. Instead I think it's because the company would view that as a violation of the copyright, thus it might be something that is limited inside the area.

Hahaha oh Stefan's extreme BD's :D My first instinct was a flat out "NO". Then when it actually started a quest in the journal, plus I had many hundreds of thousands of eddies, I came back to buy it because heck it, why not. But when it didn't work and the option was to watch it on Stefan's headset I thought this sounds like an extremely convenient way to lose a kidney or two so I shook him from the ankles until my eddies fell out.

I defintely feel like of all the quests that could have benefited from an attribute check for a different path being opened up, sweet dreams should have been one of them. Firstly: V should be street smart enough to know it's shady. A relatively low Reflex attribute of 6 resulting in V flat out knowing what's up and demanding to know where the victims end up is a no brainer, or 5 body giving you an option to intimidate him. Reflexes being 6 because you don't need to be THAT perceptive to put 2 and 2 together. Body being 5 because the guy is a coward and can be easily intimidated. Without these checks, you could either make the obviously dumb move, or attack him, which would start a fight with a few scavs, where you would then find details leading to their hideout.

One of the more deeply messed up parts of the Brendon story is that it has effectively demonstrated the concept that AI sentience can be an illusion. What does this mean for things like - for example - Soulkiller and by virtue Johnny, Alt, Saburo, and all the constructs in Mitoshi. There was already ambiguity around whether they were simply a copy, but this also adds the possibility that they may not even be sentient. Is Johnny's engram an actual sentient being with thoughts, or is it just a bit of software that is very good at convincing us that it's sentient?

In the Sweet Dreams quest, jokes on them, it gave me more reasons to go on a rampage for scavs. Not a single one survived that day. Not even the 3 gonks after you get out from the elevator. Best scam I've ever took.
