I first used bike glue back in 1978 when i ran out of glue and when telling other players they seem shocked that that glue would work. Those puncture repair kits were fantastic as they came in a small tin box and would fit nicely in your bat case and came with a little grate plate to help you scuff off the old glue. Never noticed any change in speed when using it on mark v or the black power rubber on my forehand. I don't know about the Hungarian guy being the first, i don't think he would have been born when we used it here in Australia lol.

I played with shriver in my youth. I missed vari spin (great allround rubber in the past) and the Andro rasanter (r37, r42, r47, r50, v47 and v50). All most every one at my club plays with one of the reasanter rubber now. It's most populair now I think.

I tried a few rubbers after taking the game up about four years ago, but once I gave the Hurricane 3 a go I knew I'd never look elsewhere (now have it on both sides). It's brilliant for 'local league' club players like myself because the power of faster rubbers can be difficult to control. You can get fantastic control and spin, but it's still fast enough at the level I play at, when you want to really put the bat through the ball. A tip if you use them and don't want to spend a fortune changing them too often - once the tack goes, add a little commercial cleaner (I use Custom's Bio-Clean) just before you play each time. The rubber instantly gets some good tack back.

ye i was thinking about using it too since i like spin and control BUT im a bit worried of the spin-sensitivity and my recieve going bad from it also im used to play with softer rubbers witha high throw to open with a good topspin on backspin balls and these hard rubbers are pretty different i guess

Donic Coppa was also one of those popular ones back in the days. I played the Donic F1 and F3 when I was younger. Donic was actually a very popular brand back in the days. Now even Dima switched to Butterfly, which is actually really sad, but Butterfly hit the market with that lucky Tenergy-punch and seem to be the benchmark until today.

In the 80s I had Mark V on one side and Sriver or Super Sriver on the other side. The 80s was a good era for rubbers. I was surprised how much spin you could get from these rubbers. Used to use Double Happiness instead of Sriver too. Was super sticky too (with a blade) , so you reallu had to look after its tackiness.

I use Tenergy 05, which is an arm and a leg, but cheaper than trying lots of other rubbers for a couple of weeks in the hunt for something close. Can I have some advice on gluing though, I used to roll it on, and that stretched it. Now I lay it on - is either way better (laying it on means you can take it off to reuse it more easily on spare bats as it will still fit - stretching tends to shrink back after cutting)?

I get the Thibar EVO MXP, but I am not sure if it matches the same quantity of players for a really long time playing with Bryce ...Bryce Speed etc. Bryce was the equivalent of Tenergy back in the days and it stayed popular for a a very long time. Tenergy will be hard to beat for a time to come, it's revolutionary balance makes it the best ever, and mentally, a top player will not think twice about using/trying it for sure. Especially because they are sponsored (it's a no-brainer). Cool video though ! PS (yes the Hurricane needed the bat to stick to the ball... more contact 😁)

Speed glue...oh those were the days...I remember gluing early tensor sponges as well back in the mid 2000s... my favourite rubbers of all time (inactive for 10 years) I remember when your channel was just training videos of pro players back nearly a decade ago. Proud to see how far you've come with the channel and it's great to see how you've improved as a player as well. The TTD Team videos are really funny and enjoyable and makes me want to get back into playing league matches again. Haven't played competitively since uni, a decade ago. What I don't like to see is how expensive the rubbers and blade can be nowadays. I remember when $50 USD rubbers were considered top of the line and BFly TBS and Timo ALC/Viscaria at $100-$150 were expensive for blades...Now we have $440 Zhang Jike Super ZLC and Dignics at $105 ??? Crazy! Donic F1 glued on FH Max, F3 glued on BH on a Yasaka Dynamix 17 blade...my best and favourite setup when I was playing. Over the years used Mark V, 729, DHS H3, H3-Provincial, countless Chinese rubbers.

Good selection of rubbers here. I have used Sriver and Mark V in the 1980's, I still play Sriver L on the backhand. Good quality rubber with decent control and speed. I tried Tenergy 05 last year, but decided to stick with Juic Driva Smash on the forehand, as I have been doing for the last 25 years. That rubber is just ridiculously expensive, and people are telling me that Butterfly probably has manufacturing issues as the quality (regarding durability) seems to be decreasing. Don't know if that's true.

So I hadn't played in over 35 yrs...so I was quite shocked when I came back to table tennis, everything had changed. The balls, the rubbers, I missed a lot LOL. I started with Hurricane 3 because I wanted better technique. Having played before and now KZbin instructions, I picked up very quickly. After I had my strokes, I tried Rakza7 and was blown away. Using a Tibhar Pure Wood blade. I was so impressed, I opted for a sheet of Tynergy 05 - and OMG. I have the technique to control it, but the instant speed and spin and touch, were simply amazing. I remember saying...I will never not own this rubber ever again. LOL. It is amazing stuff.

Same here, hadn't played for over 35 years, was surprised by the choice of blades and rubbers, and was so impressed by Rakza 7 on my Nittaku Acoustic. Yet to try Tenergy, but played with Dignics 05 on Acoustic - OMG what a rubber. Definitely on my list.

So I put Hurricane 8 on it, and MX-S on the backhand - again, both are amazing in grip, feel and control. I thought the carbon would be boardy or something, but it has a very nice feel to it. I can play soft touch shots as well. I'll have to check out the Gold Arc 8 and see what that is. H8 is a very nice rubber though...

Can somebody explain why Buttefly Sriver use old logo while Tenergy uses the new simple Butterfly logo. I have lots of teenage memories coupled with the old Butterfly logo but it seems impossible to buy any butterfly rubber with old logo in Sweden. is that different in UK?

guys I'm intermediate in the game not bad and not soo good like pro players and I was wondering is DHS hurrican 3 on both sides will be good for infinity vps v blade or not ? Fan Zhendong uses just one side but I don't have enough money to buy tenergy 05

Old h3 is more sticky, I think the sticky agent add the weight to the rubber, so they reduce it to make the rubber (new h3)lighter.

Tenergy 05 from Butterfly is the best among all the Rubbers, that you have selected. Furthermore, the upcoming Dignics from Butterfly, will lead the future as well.

I can’t speak of previous eras, but today there is no question that it’s Tenergy on 1 and Hurricane on 2.
