Top 5 Most Walkable Suburbs Of Indianapolis... it sounds a little strange doesn't it? Suburbs aren't usually considered very walkable. And for the most part the suburbs of Indianapolis aren't. However, there are several that at least have some areas that are extremely walkable. Unless you live nearby you'll still need to drive to these areas but I think you'd be impressed with how accessible and walkable these areas are once you see them in person. There are certainly many neighborhoods in Indianapolis that are extremely walkable and have plenty of options for living. You wouldn't normally think that about suburbs. Many of the Indianapolis suburbs on this list are trying to ensure their towns or cities don't fall into the void of being a huge, spread out, heartless place. By having a center with a high level of walkability it adds to the charm and community feel that makes many of its residents quite happy. Check this video out to see the list!

Great video as always. Plainfield resonates most with me. Love the biking trials since biking is my favorite activity. Wouldn’t mind living and working in that vicinity so I would not have to drive as much.

Thanks! Plainfield is a pretty cool place. I certainly think it has quite a lot going for it and it flies under the radar some.

If you're in the right area, you definitely can walk! I also just read about 1st on Main that will be built where the old PNC Bank building was, just before you get to Carmel H.S. The building looks really nice, and matches the quality and aesthetic of the rest of Main St in that area. I'm not seeing specifics on ground floor retail, but there will be a large community gathering area and activated public areas. I'll keep my eye on it regarding any restaurants or boutique shops, but it's a huge improvement over the old PNC Bank, which had nothing to offer the community, and included a big parking lot fronting Rangeline Rd. This will make the whole corner much more dense and urban-feeling, and while I think they could have done a little more, I know the city rejected the 8 original proposals, as they have a minimum requirement for such a prime spot. In fact, there is now only a small section of Rangeline between Main St and City Center that is not up to the standards of the immediate surroundings, but it looks like that's going to change. A few more mixed use buildings with entertainment, dining and condos, and that whole area will be walkable, all the way down to 116th - if they play their cards right.

Exactly like he said... not really any flooding here. If we do have flooding it would be extremely localized and only after a ridiculous thunderstorm or days and days and days of rain. Usually quite short lived. Tornadoes do occur in Indiana but are actually more rare than what people realize. Also, most tornadoes are small and occur in rural unpopulated areas.
