Spot on with the list Yammie, skills make someone far quicker than anything else. I rode a Duke 200 for a couple of years with a guy who had a Duke 390, after upgrading from a slower bike I am now far more capable after working out how to brake and corner well to keep up with a bike with nearly double the power. Always a better bet to practice on a smaller machine while you save for bigger one, rather than blow money on loud exhausts that piss everyone off!

A good way to increase power would be to reduce the compression space (taller piston/triangular piston heads) and to swap the stock cams to sharper ones, allowing mechanically more air in to the cylinder. With an ECU Tuning (which is needed to keep a good air-fuel-ratio) it would radically increase the hp without having the risk of driving with a turbo

And suspension on the MT09 is the same as the old big Buells - easy to tune - I was taught - so the first thing I did was match the tires - the front to the rear - lol - test ride - raised the forks 14mm in the trees and then tuned from there. Stiff, but still - for an old guy - not far from the edge at all at the tire - and steady as an axe - lol - bit like a Buell. Ha!

I'm really not a fan of removing catalytic convertors. If I ride behind bikes without them I get very nauseated. It's clear a lot of not so good fumes and particles are now comming out of the engine while before most of it was nicely broken down. So do other road users and nature a favor and just leave it on. And only replace the aft dampener if you want slightly more hp and a lot more noise.

Just buy a motorcycle with more power than you can handle. Then, you do not need to do any costly modifications. He put a muffler on a 400 Ninja, and now everyone gets to hear the lawnmower sound that the stock muffler hid. The power gain is nil. For that, you need to change the air filter and tune the fuel curve for an hp or two. Not worth it imo, due to the cost, and technically illegal to tune or remove the factory exhaust.

An ECU tune. Thats all any new bike needs. The majority of other so called "performance parts" are going to accomplish very little before the ECU is tuned to take advantage of them. Combined properly, most modern bikes need very few mods to make them perform adequately for 90% percent of the average riders demands. Beyond that is just chest thumping. I would estimate 75% percent or better of aftermarket "performance" parts, do absolutely nothing to make the bike faster. Louder, uglier, more prone to crumbling into pieces when it falls over? Absolutely! Spend that money squids!
