What kind of gas mileage do you get with a higher e content tune? Like spirited driving vs conservative driving?
@VinceChristmastree Жыл бұрын
Just basing this off E60 since that is the most common percentage year-round. Summer has a higher ethanol content, but winter hovers around E60-E65. Conservative driving (highway cruising - 70-80mph): 93 octane - 30+mpg // E60 - 26-27mpg Spirited: Never really calculated since I haven't beat on the car for an entire fuel tank. Probably if I was to guess, 10mpg worse regardless of what is in the tank.
@shiftlove Жыл бұрын
@@VinceChristmastree damn. How? I have yet to get anything better than 21mpg on 93. My current tune is 93 and I get about 260 miles for the tank which is about 20mpg. So. How? Lol.

How heavy is your foot? I do drive mine in normal mode a majority of the time but if you’re driving yours in sport, then the car would be at higher RPMs and a lower gear when cruising highway speeds.
@shiftlove Жыл бұрын
@@VinceChristmastree I drive sport mode and manual pretty exclusively. I like to get on it, but not every second of every drive. Like one to two fast accels per drive. I’ve wondered if sport mode has an enrichment map just to make it burble giving my bad gas mileage. It’s going to take a lot of will power to drive it in non sport auto for an entire tank lol.

In the Mk5/MKV group on FB, I saw someone post similar numbers you have described. I bought my 20 GR 3.0 used and has a de-catted DP and stock tune July 4th 2023, and I was able to achieve 401 per tank according to the range displayed after a FULL refill. I haven't actually calculated exactly however I'm daily driving 85 miles a day on normal mode with auto/start turned off and semi-light foot. Also to mention that's with Western WA, 92 OCT pump. Hopefully that summarize what you're looking for. @@shiftlove

I have the A91-CF front lip overlays now instead of the MFR Engineering front splitter in this video. Because it sits the same height as the stock black lip, it does not scrape as much on bumps and slopes. Some of the higher ones I still do so I have to approach it at an angle.

@VinceChristmastree11 ай бұрын
You should be fine, but you will have a CEL. I think the ECU in the platform is better than Subarus where you need a tune if you sneeze on the car. I know some people that have been running a catless DP without a tune for a couple of years and they have been fine. Not ideal, but I would recommend getting a tune sometime down the road.

Hi Lu, E50 is a the blend or mixture of ethanol and gasoline. You will have to make sure to get your car's ethanol percentage to 50%. If just regular fuel (91 or 93 octane if you are in the US) and you just have a downpipe, you will probably have around 420-430whp!

While I'm sure it's beneficial in many ways, I'm disappointed to know these are direction injection engines. Dirty exhaust valves and crud building up is a real issues for direct injection engines in general. I'm wondering how higher mileage Supra owners will address this issue as time moves on.

Would probably price out their target market and BMW won't have the B58 outperform the S58. The cheapest S58-powered car is the new M2 and with all the fees and similar specs, it's a mid-60k car (before TTL and OTD crap). They would then have to have the S58 output like 600hp then the M2 would be easily in the 70k range.

I don't like that modern ground effects are kind of just "nothing" mods? It looks like the car from the factory already has a little splitter and sideskirts, and adding them just looks like it got double-stacked redundantly. (yo dawg, i heard you liked splitters, so we put splitter ON yo splitters) not unlike the ND miata or the civic type R. basically all modern cars have these "piece of black strip" that they pass off as sideskirts/rear valences and front lips. This is something the 90s did infinitely better. remember the Greddy front lip on the S14 kouki... the C-west lip on the mk4 Supra... the RX7 lip.. these are full on LIPS that surrounded half the bumpers. also the sideskirts were real sideskirts going halfway up the car from the factory. These little black blades of plastic or metal just look like a thin black blade of plastic and metal.. not really car-specific. You could probably just cut a piece of garden divider from home depot and it looks exactly the same.
@VinceChristmastree Жыл бұрын
Yeah really good point, didn’t even think about that while I was making the video to be honest. Now that you mention it, even the 3000GT had it. I wonder why manufacturers stopped doing it. It would’ve been cool to have something like the 992 Turbo S front lip that comes down after a certain speed be an option on these cars.
@twrcrew8852 Жыл бұрын
@@VinceChristmastree not necessarily active aero that hides away per se, as those add lots of weight and complexity. I had a 95 Supra turbo that had active aero when I was in Wales around 2010 and that thing was rusted frozen in the down position anyways, so adding a lip after the fact was much better. right, the 3000gt was probably one of the first 90s era cars to start the trend that ALL cars today (built about 2016 - present) seem to settle for in terms of aero. I miss aero packages that took actual effort to build. like the S10 Xtreme sideskirts and lip. Color matched panels that were a real part of the body when mounted rather than just a flat thing drilled to the bottom.
