What is your favourite song from North Macedonia 🇲🇰 ? Let me know in the comments below 👇 ⬇
@KyleClarke-pj4dp Жыл бұрын
I'm actually with your friend on this, I love Karolina's entry from 2007. In fact love is an understatement. It's actually in my top 6 favourite Eurovision songs of all time and in my top 10 favourite songs in general. I listen to it everyday on repeat. And despite preferring the full Macedonian version, I do like the English in the performance. But like you, I love Kaliopi, I mean who doesn't? She's an absolute queen. I love all three of her entries Actually, this might make you laugh, in my personal rankings, including entries from national finals that didn't make I to Eurovision, North Macedonia have won 4 times lol. Sweden have won 14 times so far and Georgia have a win as well lol
@ReeceChambers992 жыл бұрын
2009's track is my number three of that year, probably because I just enjoy rock music. I also still enjoy 2017 and 2018. Toše Proeski passed away fifteen years ago (16th Oct 2007) - as a football fan, I know North Macedonia's main stadium is named after him. Vlatko Ilievski passed away in 2018 and Esma from 2013 passed away nearly six years ago.
@ShanesEurovisionReview2 жыл бұрын
I knew about Tose (did not know about the football stadium though so that's interesting)...I don't think I was aware of Vlatko or ESMA so thank you for this. Hahaha we normally agree on allot of stuff...so interesting regarding your fave being 2009....BUT seeming how close it was to qualifying I may be in the minority about my views about this song 😌

Finally someone who lovess Dona from Kaliopi thought I was the only one, definitely in my top 5. Number 1 would be Dance Alone (the music video just made me fall in love with the song long before the live performance which was by my opinion one of the worst from 🇲🇰) and also in the top 5 are Lost and Found, Jas ja imam silata and Proud. Ps. My guiltily pleasure is definitely 100% 🙃

I really need to start making my tops! lol By memory, I would say Crno i belo, Proud and You but, who knows, might change after actual comparing. In early years we are literally Black and White (pun intended) on every song Shane. I absolutely loovee Nešto što ke ostane, such a positive, feel good song. Btw, I was really sorry Toše couldn't represent Serbia in 2003 after winning Beovizija with Čija si, what a huge hit that was in region! Still think he would be one of the contenders at ESC that year but too many countries wanted to enter in that year and EBU sadly wasn't on our side.
@ShanesEurovisionReview2 жыл бұрын
I had completely forgot about Tose's entry in 2003! Yeah I like that song!!!! I am glad you like YOU...it would have been interesting to see how this would have done if Eurovision 2020 went ahead! Hahaha so we have opposite taste in the beginning of North Macedonia's Eurovision career??
@millegoya2 жыл бұрын
Totally 😄 I am like Please, stop! on 100%, Martin's and Ninanajna. Those tra-la-la songs aren't usually my cup. Nešto and Rusinka are cute, Ne zori zoro quite descent ballad, Jas ja imam silata ok-ish, Karolina's tottaly forgetable (but that golden corset on the other hand - wowzer)... It is different when you understand the language, I often wonder how many hidden esc gems pass me by simply because of that. Sad to see them go, I would love to see Lara, Antonija Gigovska, Dimovska on esc stage. Specially Lara, total bangers, voice and look.

2000 is another Eurovision treasure. They are so charming, so oblivious… so everything ! What’s not to love ❤? Needs to live in the Eurovision pantheon of for-ever-grandiosity. And 2019 is a fantastic song. 🎉…. So you “don’t listen to this song“ yet you know all the lyrics? 🤣

Some great songs from North Macedonia, and some absolute shockers. XXL in 2000 were terribly in every single way, but it all comes together to create such a hot mess that it actually becomes utterly amazing and I am in love with it. Whilst at the same time being ashamed of myself for it 🤣 Shane, I actually don't like either of Karolina's songs, I know I will get hate on that one 🤣 Vlatko the singer from 2011 has also sadly passed away since his Eurovision appearance, also I think Esma has as well, but may be misremembering that. And Kaliopi is of course a Eurovision legend. 'Lost & Found' is one of my biggest travesties, an amazing song that should have been in the final. But the live performance was poor, and that outfit was just shocking. 2019 was such a moment, I never thought I would see the day when North Macedonia were getting a bunch of 12's and leading the voting. A great moment for Tamara after missing out on the final in 2008. Shane, I am a bit worried that whilst you are complaining about your neighbours always making noise. They may be complaining about the crazy British guy who keeps singing Eurovision songs. 🤣 Great video as always, when we getting Montenegro?

My ranking: 2006, 2016, 2018, 2020 5. Ninanajna 4. You (Curious how the stage would've looked like.) 3. Dona 2. Lost And Found (For me one of the best produced songs from North Macedonia for Eurovision. Very disappointed they didn't make the final.) 1. 100% Te Ljubam: (Yeah bad vocals and a bit repetetive overall but I love the studio version. I did then, I do now. I still remember the choreography.)

I can’t blame them Eurovision is turned in commercial and lost his values. Stages are expensive and takes lot of part in voting. We we can build simple stages and focusing in vocals music I should say ethnicity music so everyone can afford, Albania is not in better shape. The state fund is small singers get their own private sponsors, I’m sad that both North Macedonia which I’m fan of them and Bulgaria are not participating. By the way your comment was great as usually. Sending hugs

Yes...it is a shame that the show is now outpricing some countries. The spectacle of the show has meant countries with the money are "ALL IN", which means other countries struggle to compete. I remember the good old days when countries raised this concern the EBU would turn around and say...well look at Eurovision 2004 Cyprus: Lisa Andreas - "Stronger Every Minute" - that was simple staging and she did well! But I think we are passed that now! You either have unlimited funds to throw everything at it...or resign yourself to the fact you may struggle when you get to the Eurovision stage,.
@zanabanci19432 жыл бұрын
@@ShanesEurovisionReview you are absolutely right. I think westerns should support morally small countries like Albania taking consideration their financial wise, not to aspect fancy stages from them at least tele votes can do that. Should be a honor of Eurovision that countries with small limited budges like Albania dare to participate in European big events such as Eurovision. I can proudly say we are brave cause I know that we are facing powerful European countries. I’m happy that Albania will participate in both Junior Eurovision 22 and Esc Eurovision 23. At least we are part of Europe family. Sending hugs

There is nothing to regret. I am from Macedonia and you should know that the information that our country won't participate has been greeted by the majority of people with positive feedback and popular relief that we are not gonna participate in such sham of competition. Every person here has their own reasons. But the majority of ordinary people are sick and tired of the ridiculous chaotic concept of the "music" "competition". Especially since last year's sham of pity votes for Ukraine outright mocking the professional aspect of the competition as a music competition making it a place for political messages and statements and sanctions of certain countries because of political reasons. And if you say "the more the merrier" and "it is a shame that any country is withdrawn" Why didn't you express that regret when Russia was sanctioned from participating and Belarus years back. EBU does this to themselves. And I would actually be happy if more countries pull back. The more EBU gets political, more people will see that and lose interest in Eurovision as a musical concept. Honestly, and I have stated this to Macedonian you tube footages of past representatives, we are so backwards and we don't understand how to grasp Eurovision. we have sent mediocre songs at best. And that won't change soon, believe me. So better we don't participate at all. Cause we don't give it all or are held back by production and most of the artists just go to get over it. When people start to vote for the actual song as a song, and not for some political or social agenda, maybe we'll be back. One thing tho. If you like check this runner up to the 1998 national selection competition and tell me your thoughts> kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5yrp3SonNuMj80 compared to the song we sent that year and to the other song on the Eurovision that participated from the other countries. Cheers!

@@nian60 Good, I hope you don't vote for Macedonia. As I said, we send shitty songs almost all the time. But your comment only proves my point. That most people vote out of spite or pity or other political or social agendas and motivation. It is unfortunately only a small number of people that vote for a song as a piece of music instead of nationalistic, political or other ideologies.

Hey! I must say....North Macedonia has given me some great songs over the years....even if the performances do not match up to my expectations OR the quality of the songs are not high up there in regards to other songs that have more of a credible or mass appeal.... after revisiting all the past entries it would seem I am going to miss North Macedonia from the show. I know you have strong feelings about the political aspects of the show and I have read allot of your comments which communicate this. I do respect anyone's viewpoint as long as the reasoning is sound. Despite our different views on this matter, I respect your views and I really hope North Macedonia return to the competition soon AND Eurovision becomes a show you are able to fall in love with again...because it brings allot of joy to my life :-)
