Those Pokemon could be pretty powerful if we would have fully evolved them. Yeah but the thing is if squirtle evolve, it won't be able to do its job as a firefighter properly, remember blastoise is to heavy and big to be able to move fast and efficiently.

Ash should've got Feraligatr. He never had a water starter evolved until Greninja. And it wouldve balanced between Charizard and Sceptile. Corphish and Buizel were strong in their first stages as was Squirtle yet Totodile wasnt really. Missed opportunity and They still couldve had Quilava and Bayleef.

I don't get it either. The gag with Totadile dancing would've been hilarious after it evolved. And Ash with a Feraligatr would've been epic. Honestly, I would've liked to have seen him with all 3 Johto starts fully evolved. I kind of see why they didn't evolve Bulba and Squirtle. But the Johtos actually seemed like the perfect trio to all evolve all the way. But more than anything, Feraligatr was a huge missed opportunity.

Honestly all the Johton starters Ash obtained they were always overshadowed by Bulbasaur, Charizard, and Squirtle. I don’t think the writers wanted totodile to have a better character arc than Squirtle :(

Gible would need to come to Alola. Ash needs to remember that Gible is still hanging out at Oak's lab. And then proceeds to evolve it immediately into Gabite (presumably early in Ula'ula -- say the Sophocles trial) and into Garchomp at say Vast Poni Canyon. They are native to Alola too #bringgibleback

Scraggy and Snivy never evolved because they were trying to embrace the whole "reboot" idea of Generation V. And they failed miserably at it in the anime. I think the stupid "cuteness" factor is also one of the reasons they never evolved (just like Iris's Axew, who was even freaking established as both being MEANT to evolve and WANTING to evolve early on in the series, but NOPE).

The spearow ash hit with a rock when he started his adventure evolved to a Fearow that was attacking all the pidgey so when Ash left for the orange islands he left Pigeot there since he wasn’t able to catch the Fearow

I disagree with Bulbasaur. He revolves mostly around speed, like how his Turtwig did. And well.. we saw how Torterra does now that he can't be speedy.. Squirtle would follow the same tactic but I think he'd do well as wortortle. Because squirtle has horridly low health and if one strong hit, it's pretty much done. Wortlortle allows for more health and durability while not reducing its speed too much if at all

The anime runs on plot-manufactured logic. Generally, if the writers think a pokemon becomes less 'cute' with an evolution or less marketable, they'll make some excuse as to why evolution doesn't happen.

I always felt like Bulbasaur should've become Ivysaur just for the sake of a stage 1-2-3 dynamic with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard while reflecting Pokemon trainer in smash. Plus Ivysaur doesn't change in design much from Bulbasaur, so his classic personality and expressions wouldn't be difficult to express with that new form

I couldn't see Totodile's personality working as a Croconaw or Feraligatr.Gible I would have at least liked to see as Gabite.I really wanted Crawduant to be Ash's first dark type 'cause it's one of my favorates. Maybe it could still be his first to use a dark type Z-move.Palatoad I thought might evolve around mid to late-Unova, but nothing ever came of that despite it being a decent battler for most of it's tenure.

To be completely honest though, The trainers can push their Pokemon to evolve if Ash wanted it enough he could have pushed for evolutions. The anime mechanics for evolution are different from the games.

Gible, Buizel, Scraggy, Corphish, Palpitoad, and Pignite are the ones for me. A team of Garchomp, Floatzel, Scrafty, Crawdaunt, Seismitoad, and Emboar is a force to be reckoned with absolutely no doubt.

My theroy is that the Garchomp that Ash uses in sun and moon is the same Gible from before. Lusamine did her research and found Gible and turned it into Gabite, then Garchomp. Again, maybe not. But it's still cool to think about.
