With that board, in which the broadway would be the most obvious made hand, do you think someone would be reluctant to show the hand that anyone in that position could be assumed to have? So heres the real lesson from the hand where romanello folds jacks full: standardize your open sizing. Blinds were 50-100 and opponent opened 6x for 600. Romanello likely read that raise as probably AA or KK and decided to set mine with JJ. To his dismay the board comes AKJ. Both AA and KK made sets and theres a st draw out there. When he is raised on the river he reverts back to his original read of AA or KK. What other hands would someone cold open for 6x with. If the guy holding KK raises the standard 3x (for that era) he might get 3 bet by jacks pre, and jacks will bet to protect or call a couple streets postflop. If he made a standard open he has a standard range, which is wider. The 6x open narrowed his range to top 5 hands or crazy guy raising random crap.

Some players have bad luck hands. I’ve folded a monster hand in certain spots. It’s a gut feeling you get from a past Deja-vu hand that played out exactly the same way. Personally, I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been annihilated catching a full-house. Never fails, they turn over a the better boat or on few horrible occasions turned over Quads and made me absolutely sick for a week straight. It’s my bad luck hand, I’ve take too many bad beats with it. I still play it of course, but depending on the dynamics of the hand, I’m not afraid to fold it either.
@tankmaster10189 ай бұрын
I'm honestly more impressed with players who can lay down monster hands than I am with some of the best pros currently playing. You just have so many factors working against you when it's time to decide to call or fold. You probably have all your instincts screaming at you to call his bluff and stay in the hand, have to show humility and accept the fact any of the other players could have gotten even luckier than you, you're probably already a few thousand into the pot which you know you're not getting back if you fold, and don't want to be humiliated on live television for folding the winning hand against a bluff. you've got to have a high level of instinct to decide folding hooks without regrets.

The funny thing is, the JJ fold wasn’t really a good fold. There’s plenty of other full houses the opponent can have that you beat in that spot: -2 Combos of J10 -6 Combos of A10 -6 Combos of K10 You also beat hands like Q10 that have the straight but have the 10 as a FH blocker. Q10 could easily raise there. You’re only losing to: -3 Combos of KK -3 Combos of AA -1 Combo of 1010 ________ So, there’s 14 combos of FH’s that you beat, as well as Q10 and every other hand like AQ, KQ, QJ, that all have FH blockers with the straight that could easily raise on the river. Even QQ is a possibility to have and to raise the river with. So if you factor in all of those hands as well, that’s I believe 45 combos of hands that the opponent can reasonably have and raise the river. Meanwhile there’s only 7 combos of hands you’re losing to. I think this is always a call. The debate is whether you should raise or not. Because all those other FH’s you beat CAN call a 3 bet on the river. But safest play is to at least call. Anyway, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a “bad” fold, I just wouldn’t call it a “good” fold either.

That jacks full is probably the second greatest fold of all time. Doyle folding Kings to Chip Reece’s aces on a rainbow flop is still the best fold in poker history

Hank Azaria (actor from the Simpsons) laid down kings pre flop one year at the WSOP, that was impressive IMO. Of course the other guy held AA.

Tom Dwan should have totally been called out for the forward motion. Pulling a chip out shows total intent to call or raise and then to pull off the forward motion move and then folding is completely out of line. Angling at it's best in any other scenerio so why not when it's Tom?

now I don't believe the last one is a great read, I mean Daniel he was so emotional about that reading, he just made 2+2 thinking how the preflop 3bet could represent some premium hands, but it must be really weird to play AA with oppo being that way convinced you had them! So sick!!

A slight angle shoot from Dwan. Makes the forward motion like he was going. Ultimately throws it away....

I was playing at a private game once (smallish buy in of about 100 and only amateur players, we all knew each other as well) 2 tables of 7 and after getting to final table I managed to not go broke with 4 of a kind vs a Royal Flush. Tbh i dont even know if i played it right even though it worked out. OG = other guy and I was acting after him, everyone else got out the way pre-flop. Me - QC, QD OG - KH, 10H He bet and I re-raised, he called. Flop - QH, AH, 6C He checks, i bet, he calls. River - JH He checks, i bet, he calls. Turn - QS He checks, i bet, he re-raised all in, i fold. He showed me what he had so i showed him what i folded. It was a few years ago so cant remember all betting values but i lost about half of my chips. Interestingly in the same tournament on the first table i managed to stack a different guy with the same 4 queens when he had a full house. Fnished 2nd in the end.

There’s a million hero calls out there cuz people bluff a lot so hero folds are way more intriguing especially when you have second nuts or a really strong hand like nut flush against a boat or boat over boat or quads to boat and or straight flush

20/20 and all that, but Geller did all the classic rookie tells: "please don't raise me." then buries his head down trying to feign weakness. i would think a lot of poker pros would have seen through it.

Dwan making that angle shot first hand. I'm suprised the announcers ignored it and most casinos would call it forward momentim forcing him to call.

6:30 "Colman is the greatest that has ever lived!"... Seriously? Who the hell are these "analysts" any ways? While picking the best poker player ever is obviously subjective, on what planet could Colman be even considered as an option. Some of these announcers are complete clowns.
