I saw you use the bundler with Chris. It looks like a great unit. I would like to have a way to bundle, but I cannot bare to put that much plastic in the waste stream. I called the guy that distributes the machine and asked if the maker could try to design one that uses jute twine. It is a slick unit and seems to work very smooth.

James, I can’t argue with you. I felt the stretch wrap was using less plastic than the mesh bags that are being used for bundles. The idea you have about twine is good and I hope someone can incorporate it into the Amish bundler. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT

so i need to point out a few things .... firstly it is not a 1- 1 ratio , it is just over 1.5 turns of the crank , possibly 1.75 turns to one rotation of the wrap . also i recently did a cost break down to build one , and i'm under 150.00 in materials , including consumables , electricity and even heat for the shop . and 4 to 5 hours to fabricate .... so they are making a healthy profit on these .... one change i would make is i'd put the wheels at the back instead of the side , and i'd use mountain bike wheels to make it easier to move around ...... there also needs to be a knife holder and a cup holder .
@TonysCoolTools Жыл бұрын
Charles great suggestions for improvement and product cost analysis. I don’t know if you’ve shopped around for manual bundler but the Amish bundler is the least expensive one on the market. Most others are in the $1,500 range. Unfortunately the average guy doesn’t know how to weld so they are paying for convince and reliability. Ironically if you go back to to 3 years ago these units were selling for $500 dollars. Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍TCT

Brad glad to hear you are getting an Amish bundler, you're gonna love it. I buy it from Packaging Supply 800-456-2467. I get the 90ga cast SKU: 50210-01 or the 80 ga cast Sku: 50076-1. Either one will work fine on the bundler. Don't get the blown its way to noisy. After calling several companies this is the cheapest and best, I've found. Unfortunately, I think they are out of stock, I'm hoping they will have some this week. If you go to Joe from Ohio Wood Burners KZbin channel, he has a deal for anyone ordering of either 5% or 10% off with his affiliate code. Sorry you didn't get this sooner. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Tony

Great review Tony, but the crank-to-wrap ratio is nowhere near 1:1. It looks like you made about 6 crank turns to get 4 wraps. About 1.5:1. You could count the teeth on each sprocket to get the exact ratio. Overall though, looks like a very well made bundler. Thanks for showing.

I don't think the ratio is a huge issue to any of us who are actually in the market. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
@jakebredthauer5100 Жыл бұрын
@@TonysCoolTools If it were a 1 to 1 ratio, there would be no need for any sprockets or chain. If you put a long enough handle on the bundle, anyone could turn it. A pair of small wooden fence posts would probably work okay for the stand, after they were planted. Someone should design a $100 bundler. I would like to see what it looks like. The reason there is no $100 bundler may be that anyone could build it. If you could design it and make it popular that would be a bonus for your show. Intentionally design a homemade model. I know you have high intelligence. I can tell by the way you move and the way you talk. After demonstrating what other people have built it is time for you to start yourself. It is what Whites do. If you design it then you name it, like a Franklin stove.
@jakebredthauer5100 Жыл бұрын
@@TonysCoolTools You could offer a kit with blueprints and key components. Put the axle under the bundle rack. Put the crank straight down but slanted inward to keep it from hitting knees. The weight of the operators arms will be a good counterbalance for easy turning. I leave it to you to determine whether these ideas will harmonize with other design requirements. You could use baling twine if you knew how to make the twine get very tight. I know there is a way to grab the twine in the middle and twist it into a loop. I CAN explain it to you. With a loop on the end take the other end and go through that loop, then backwards to the middle loop. You can make as many middle loops as you need. I expect those two loops would be plenty. Extra length could be a handle loop. Loops give mechanical advantage as a pulley would. The problem with twine may be the time requirement. It takes two to three seconds to form a middle loop. It might take 5 to 10 seconds to form an end loop. 5 to 10 seconds for the final tie and 5 to 10 seconds for a handle loop. My assumption is using only one wrap of twine. More than one wrap would be optional. Unbundling: 1. Shears or knife. 2. Leverage to break the twine. 3. Pull pieces out with twine on. 4. Apply fire/heat to twine. 5. Untie. 6. Abrasion.

Great video Tony. I am definitely a fan of this bundler, it is light enough to be portable which you can take it to the wood (like Chris has on In the Woodyard), and is well built. Also, no power needed, definitely a good thing when it comes to taking the bundler to the wood. The little details like a chain drive make a big difference. All the main components such as the bearings vs bushings are thought out. Bearings have grease fittings, nice size chain, etc. well designed all the way threw. Another small detail is the moving components are orange, attracts the eye for safety purposes. I got thinking, Chris would add some of his famous pink tape to it some where though. Lol. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Tony. I called Paul as you had suggested and ordered a bundler. I was told my bundler would be mailed out that Friday. I had ordered it on a Monday. Now it's been 2 weeks and when I inquire about tracking info or if it's even been shipped yet I'm just told I'll get back to you. I have a feeling there where none ready and in order to get my money I was told there where and now I have to wait until they are produced. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Has anybody else had this issue?

Donald sorry to hear you are having an issue. I have to say you are the first viewer that has contacted me with an issue. I will reach out to Paul and ask. I know since the video’s I’ve done with Chris from In The Woodyard and my review video’s they have sold 20-30 or more bundles. Several KZbinrs like Brad from Firewood In The Furnace and Firewood On The Hill have gotten the machines with no problems. I agree a company should honor there commitments but I will say supply chain issues have hit all businesses since Covid. I appreciate you taking your time to let me know. Tony

@@TonysCoolTools thank you for the response. I do believe the machine will come and that ultimately I will be satisfied. I just feel like I was mislead about when the machine would be shipped. I understand some things are out of our control but each time I reach out for an update I'm told I'll get back to you. I feel like there where no machines available at the time of my order and that I'm just not being told that. But thanks again love the channel and felt you should know

Donald I reached out to Paul. See his reply back to me. Yes. I may have spoke. With him yesterday. My inventory count was off and bundler are being shipped again this coming week. He may have fallen through the cracks a few weeks ago. Paul was very apologetic about the problem and said they implemented a new tracking system to help with customer questions. I know when you get your bundler you’re gonna love it. Tony

Donald I just got back from the Paul Bunyan show and left Paul a message about your splitter. Possibly issue is resolved but if not I hope to hear something soon. Tony

Thx Tony. I have still yet to recieve the bundler. It's very disappointing. I just keep getting told different excuses with every inquiry. I like to th8nk I'm patient but this is not how a business should be run.

Do you get 42 bundles from a face cord?
@TonysCoolTools11 ай бұрын
my bundles are 1.0 cf . so I typically get about 32-34 from a face cord. my bundle dimensions are 10”x12”x16”. And as you know unless you are extremely meticulous with bundle wood piecies you end up with piecies you can’t use which makes your overall number less. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
