@TravelsonToast3 жыл бұрын
We were exactly the same before we came here, everyone we met in Vietnam said it was not worth it, but curiosity got the better of us! The lack of sea and beach is made up for in the lagoons, waterfalls and nature they have. Its always best to go for yourself and see, so many of our favourite places are the ones that we were told were not worth the visit 😅

Maybe when it comes to non-asian foreigners/tourists. As an Asian, and Hmong where a lot of our people live in Laos, they'll treat you like a local. I've known people who were visiting and was hassled by the authorities and threatened to be jailed unless they pay up (knowing they're not actually a local and probably has money). My dad goes back to visit every once in awhile, but he has to understand how the authorities work in order to avoid problems. If I ever go, and I will someday, I'd need to secure local friends to show me around.

@LaoLishLife3 жыл бұрын
It’s my birth country. I’ll always love it. I feel I got duped. The only mention of Laos from USA education about the Vietnam War is that Laos is a landlocked country and was part of the Ho Chi Min trail or whatever. On top of it being a communist country, when I went back in 2005, I had reservations on exploring the country. I thought I’d be safe with just visiting my family. Which at that time was poor financially. What I love about Laos is how humble and sabai sabai the people are. I can’t wait to go back and explore the nature and food cultures. You guys have all the reasons why I love Laos.
@Idontknowokk3 жыл бұрын
When I’ve been there 2 years ago I was surprised I never heard about it just weeks before while backpacking in Thailand. So I love about Laos the most that it’s not packed by thousands of tourists, the nature is amazing and the locals are so friendly and less hectic than their neighbors. And still they seem very pleased with their life. Still waiting for the reopening to get there again 🙏🏽

I just came across your channel today! My heritage is Chinese, but I was born in Pakse, Laos, and immigrated to the US at 17. I have been in the US for 4 decades and plan to move back to Laos in the next 2 or 3 years for a cozy retirement. Yeah, what I love about Laos is precisely the same as you guys do: its weather, nature, low cost of living, tropical fruits, drinks, fresh food, good-natured Laotian people, and last but not least, I love Vientiane the most and will settle there because of the Chinatown, which is developing... It will be so much more significant in the near future! I lived in China for 2 years before and am crazy about authentic Chinese food! It will be convenient to travel between Laos and China by high-speed train that was put into operation recently! Thank God! My dollars will go a long way in Laos!!! Thank you guys for making all the informative videos about Laos. Haha, I have been brushing up on the language of Laos. Liked & subscribed.

There are still many unspoiled forests all over the country. Food OMG I could go on and on because there are just loads of good stuffs; fried insects, egg with foetus 🤪 (Olivia’s least favourite). Raw beef salad, homemade sausages freshly grilled. So yummy 😋. I wish this pandemic will end soon!!!!!. Yes you are right again about foreigners like to come and settle down here in Laos. No problem guys! Hope youre all good, we saw you made it back home 🙂 look forward to your next adventures!
Really like your positive attitude about Laos and in general. Being in yet another lockdown, apparently the worst ever for Laos, certainly can justify a depressed state. But we all need to power beyond that, so good for you for that! The fresh food / local markets lifestyle, over supermarkets, is quite an appeal. Here in the USA, supermarkets of course are dominant in the food supply. Considering the long supply chains and such, it is not surprising that much of our food is processed with lots of preservatives. And ditto for many restaurants that get pre-made stuff from a distributor. I imagine you have ideas for future videos, but here are a few for the hopper: Your top 10 places or activities for visitors to Laos -- in fact it could be two lists -- one of major tourist spots and one of obscure/less known places/activities that you discovered. A second idea is 10 pieces of travel advice when visiting Laos. And this could be divided into 2 lists--10 things to do/prepare for and 10 things not to do/don't do when visiting Laos. Finally, there could be a comparison with another country like Cambodia, with a vlogger who does Cambodia, about likes, dislikes, etc. Well I hope to get to Laos in 2022. Right now, who knows the trajectory of Covid-19 in the months ahead.

Hi Guys I have lived in Lao for the last 13 years and what you say is all true. Difficult to say why other than the woman I met and married was the best move of my life. There are a few things for people to be aware of if the decide to live here that are negatives. Nothing is done quickly, and the corruption when dealing with officials is quite bad. However on balance I would not live any where else and I have lived in the UK,US, and NZ. Last thing is the name of the county in Lao, the French stuck a silent "s" on the end as they do with many name places. Lao people will never correct you, which is why I am.
