I have news for you..SC has bugs too!..and snakes as well. The weather in SC is also HOT, HOT, HOT in the summer. I do like the idea that places like Columbia have a winter..oh, not as bad as NY, but they do get cold occasionally. Hurricanes also hit SC but will not hurt inland areas as badly as the coastal areas. SC is also not as crowded as FL is. Let's hope that SC doesn't get as crowded. I'm from NY. FL has gotten just as expensive. However SC is cheaper and could be an option for me later on.

I live in Manatee County, just south of Tampa, I'm leaving as soon as my daughter grads from community college, this used to be a nice area early 2000's but now in Parrish they are adding 20K homes and have destroyed most of the natural habitat with daily killings of deer, hogs, coyotes on the side of the road. Numerous car crashes and deaths in the area also, do yourself a favor DON'T come here, its not that pretty anymore, my typical commute to work used to take me 20-30 minutes and now it can take 60-90 minutes with daily accidents on I-75/Ellenton area.

You haven’t checked your stats lately. Over 900 people are moving to the state of Florida daily. I’m happy for all of you to move SC. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Charleston area. It’s just as hot. It’s just as buggy. The humidity is off the charts The traffic and roads are terrible. You pay state income taxes and property taxes on your car. Please move to SC. It’s getting too crowded here in Florida with everyone moving here.

Hey Gregory! You bring up a valid point about the weather, and your perspective aligns with the experiences of many individuals. Florida's consistently hot and humid climate can indeed be challenging for day-to-day activities, especially for those who may not be accustomed to such conditions. While the beautiful beaches and vacation vibes are appealing, the long-term comfort in daily life can be a consideration for people making decisions about where to live. It's valuable to recognize and discuss these factors, as they play a significant role in shaping people's preferences and choices regarding their living environment. Great question! Coastal areas of South Carolina can indeed experience hurricanes, given their proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Absolutely, Southeast Florida does have a unique appeal with its fantastic climate and recreational opportunities. It's understandable that the region is attractive to many, including those who appreciate the year-round options for activities like golf and boating. While Southeast Florida is undoubtedly a popular destination, it's worth mentioning that there are other parts of the mainland USA with diverse climates and lifestyle offerings. Some people might find equally attractive options in different regions that suit their preferences and needs. Whether it's the mountains, Midwest, or other coastal areas, the United States offers a wide range of choices for those seeking a place to call home. People may prefer South Carolina over Florida for various reasons, as preferences can vary based on individual priorities and lifestyle choices. Here are a few reasons why some individuals might find South Carolina appealing: Cost of Living, Four Distinct Seasons, Natural Beauty and Outdoor Activities, Southern Charm, Historical and Cultural Richness, Education and Research Institutions, Proximity to Major Cities. It's important to note that individual preferences vary, and what may be attractive to one person might not be as important to another. Ultimately, the choice between South Carolina and Florida depends on personal priorities, lifestyle preferences, and specific needs.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and for watching my video! It's true that Florida has seen substantial population growth, and the influx of new residents contributes to the state's vibrancy. However, I understand that the increase in population may lead to concerns about crowding. Urban planning and infrastructure considerations become crucial in managing the challenges that come with growth. It's great to hear different viewpoints on this matter. If there are specific aspects you find challenging due to the increase in population, I'd be interested to hear more about your experiences and insights. All of that depends on where in Florida. I just spent 3 weeks there looking for property and found houses in gated communities with HOA fees of $135 a month and Condos with HOA fees of $800. It's wildly different depending on the town, no different than any other state. If you're leaving a state like Alabama, then Florida is going to be a rise in expenses, if you're leaving a state like NY then it's a drop in expenses. It all depends on where a person is coming from and their reasons for the move.

Are retirements taxed ?
@palmettomove
@palmettomove Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for watching my video. In South Carolina, retirement income is generally subject to state income tax. If your retirement income exceeds the $10,000 deduction, it becomes taxable at South Carolina's regular income tax rates. These rates vary and range from 0% to a maximum of 7% for the highest income tax bracket. It's worth noting that, compared to other states, South Carolina often offers more attractive tax rates for retirees. It's important to note that while South Carolina does tax retirement income, some states have more favorable policies for retirees. For example, pension income is exempt from state tax in Illinois, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. Each state has its own set of tax regulations, and these exemptions can significantly impact the overall tax burden for retirees. It's always a good idea to consider these factors when planning for retirement and to explore the specific tax implications in the state where you plan to reside. Are you thinking about moving to South Carolina?

Having lived in Chicago for almost all my life you dont know what you are talking about. Weather. Almost everything is indoors including exercise. The world ends in late November and does not come back until May. If your car dies in the coldest part of the winter. You have about 45 min before early frostbite sets in. Low light levels. LImited Summer. Extended Winter . Short Spring. Very Short, and its expensive and there are areas you dont go into and that dont tell you that you should not get off the expressways if they are adjacent to these areas. . They have had shoot outs on the Kennedy for a long time now. So glad to be in Palm Beach County. The kicker. The winter kills old people. Both my parents died prematurely during the winter. So dont complain about Florida until you have lived in places like this.

@@palmettomove Thank You very Much. You hear the stories about people hanging on but you dont believe it. My dad hung on till after the new year and died six days later. He did in his house and the weather was appropriate. Interestingly, he had a lucid moment before he died. I asked him how did he feel (of course not knowing he had little time to live) and he said shitty. Thats what death felt like. Shitty. He went into slightly labored breathing and I expected him to continue but he had passed on and only his body was alive. He just turned his head hard to the right and he was dead. I saw it all. Its fitting that I as the oldest saw this. Same with my mom. But I wont go into the particulars. This is not going the way Im going. PS See that you are moving to South Carolina. Nice state. Sure, I would pick South Carolina over Florida, gracious southern living with 4 seasons with a lower cost of living. Even if South Carolina has a state income tax, it's property tax is quite reasonable. But beware, especially if you are approaching upper middle age. Florida does excel over South Carolina in such areas as access to health care, elderly outcomes, health measurements of the general population, and life expectancy. While Florida nationally ranks in the middle, South Carolina ranks low, where the lowest ranking 11 states are all Red. If you are aging, and want to make the move to South Carolina, evaluate your health needs, and have competent health services within easy reach.

Hello Carol! You bring up an interesting observation about the perceived resilience of Americans. Indeed, the ability to navigate challenges with a "can-do" attitude has been a notable aspect of the national character. It's true that periods of change and uncertainty can put resilience to the test. However, history has shown that communities often come together to adapt and find solutions in the face of adversity. If you have any specific insights or thoughts on how resilience can be fostered or what aspects contribute to it during challenging times, I'd love to hear more about your perspective. Thank you for watching my video!

Hello and thank you for watching my video. Thanks for sharing your perspective! It's fascinating how different places resonate with different people. Each state has its unique appeal, and what may be a dream destination for some might not be the same for others. If Florida doesn't spark your interest, that's completely valid, and there are countless other fantastic places to consider. Everyone has their own criteria for what makes a location appealing, and it's great to explore various options until you find the perfect fit for your lifestyle and preferences. Feel free to share any thoughts on places you've found appealing or any criteria that guide your choices - it's always interesting to hear about different perspectives on the places we call home. Or let me know if South Carolina is on your radar. Blessed day!

I would never live anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon. I love the North and the 4 distinct seasons, even the cold and snowy Winter. I live in northeast Pennsylvania and I adore New Yorkers and New Jersey residents. The further north the better. This is my opinion as it’s my life. If you don’t agree with me, I couldn’t care less.😊

When you mention bugs, are you sure you're only talking about the organic variety found everywhere, and not the kind that are surreptitiously, unscrupulously and in any case, cleverly installed in your home, without your knowledge, by armed and paid government agents?

its the purchasing power of the dollar manipulated to go down...thomas jefferson said if we let bankers manipulate our currency our great grand children will wake up homeless on the continent their forefathers founded. another thing is the stupid property tax which you will have to pay. example grandfather buys house in 1965 for $18,000 dollars, ends up paying mortgae for 30 years where he pays over 100,000$ dollars. plus taxes every year on top of all that. after mortage is paid off in 1996, still has to pay between $2000-$5000 a year for property tax for that house. years down the road the 95 year old wife thats on social security barely can make ends meet every month. it gets to a point that the property tax cant be afforded anymore and the gov takes that house. if a house can be in your family for over 60-70 years and it can be taken from you because you cant pay $2300 property taxes for that year its time for a revolution. do you know what the definition of a mortgage is? mort - means death, gage -means pledge. so your mortgage actually means death pledge.
@DoomFinger511
@DoomFinger511 Жыл бұрын
The taxes and mortgages are 2 different things. Anyone can refinance a mortgage to lower costs, and have their house re-evaluated to lower taxes. Depending on where you live, $2k-$5k is considered cheap. Go to Long Island NY where property tax is $15k-$25k. Those people would love to pay $2k-$5k a year. Property tax is never going away, otherwise, who is going to pay to maintain the roads outside the house, the police and fire departments, the schools, the sanitation, and the access to the local water and electrical supply. No one owns property, it is just rented from the government, otherwise, that property would be a sovereign nation. In the example of that grandmother, she can also sell that $18k house, with $100k in interest put into it, for $100ks more and use that money to buy a smaller condo with enough cash left over to pay her bills for the rest of her life.

Florida is sinking
@palmettomove
@palmettomove 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for bringing up an interesting point! The idea that Florida is sinking usually refers to the long-term geological process of land subsidence rather than immediate weather conditions. This process is related to factors such as the state's unique limestone geology and groundwater extraction. If you have more details or concerns about this issue, I'd be interested to hear your perspective or any specific information you may have. It's always valuable to discuss and understand the various factors that contribute to the geological characteristics of different regions.
