There are three options for Indian if you want to become a pilot (any field) but are financially weak. (I'm assuming that you want to be an 'airline' pilot) 1# Get your medicals done, study and clear to join Indian Air Force in flying section where you'll have to serve at least 14 years. On release, many airlines would be dying to hire you due to your experience. By far, the cheapest way. 2# Go to any government flying academy to get a license for a single engine aircraft and then get instructor rating. With that, try finding a job as an instructor at any flying school. Getting the license may not be cheap but trust, will totally save you from spending more to get flying hours and experience. On earning enough money and flight hours, do your type rating with any airlines and enter your job as an airline pilot. 3# Just go with you family's flow, join any common courses like engineering, literally anything that's in your budget and will help you earn enough. Save up on your own for your flying classes and start classes immediately after you have planned and earned enough over the years. Join jobs in aviation other than pilots to stay close to your dream job so you may get an idea before starting to study. note: Please don't stress your parents and sell your house, car, etc just because you could achieve your life goal; go on a slow pace as pilot jobs aren't closing anytime soon, doesn't matter even if it takes 15 years.

Here is a basic procedure: - You must pass 12th class with maths, physics and English. - Get a Class 2 medical certificate. (First you have to register on the eGCA portal with 10th marksheet to apply for medical examination.) - Apply for a DGCA computer number. - Complete the DGCA exams. And you must also take the RTR (Radio Telephony Restricted) exam. - Get a Class 1 medical certificate, which you need to have before you start the actual flight training for the commercial pilot license. - Choose your flight school and give the SPL exam. (SPL exam is an oral exam.) After the SPL exam you can get your SPL (Student Pilot License) which you need to have so that you are allowed to receive flight training. When you have your SPL you can start your pilot training for the commercial pilot license.

Cadet programs are the best if you want to become a pilot but the only drawback is it’s expensive!

Airlines don't prefer anyone. You either go through the cadet program or do it conventionally. In the latter case, you will have to wait for a vacancy. Cadets arte also kept on hold for a while before they can start flying. Neither of the two pathways are related to each other.

I recommend clearing dgca exams before going for pilot training. If you will do your pilot training in a foreign country then you would need to give Nav, Met and Regs exam.
