The emphasis on the camps isn't loud enough. That is the first place I go to, in Duo Lane(I main roles in this lane, but prefer Support). Get that purple, clear the wave, clear the harpy, but my teammate *NEVER* wants to clear the harpy before the next wave comes through. It's like pulling teeth.

The single harpy has the worst xp and gold rewards in the entire game. They are like the games versions of penny. Where the time being spent to pick it up is more valuable then the penny itself.

Lol @number 1, I was playing support just a couple days ago and I literally had my adc tell me if they die, it's my fault, and then immediately dive directly into the middle of the enemy team and die. Side note for others, knowing your role is important for everyone, and you should always pick characters that compliment the team rather than just locking whoever you feel like playing.

I no longer play support , loved the role but I was getting flamed on too much and it was just too stressful for me. I am not calling myself superior or being selfish but I was a support that u want in your team. I would sacrifice myself for team, zone the enemy team, distract so my team can retreat, be there for any call (even blink in and ut with low health cuz I trust my team that when they make a call they will commit with me), go weird ass build sometimes so that my team gets the useful auras/ stats or so that enemy team gets negative effects applied e.g. anti heal like divine ruin, toxic blade / cursed ankh. Problem with the build is that most of my solos get pestilence AND contagion at the same. My mages don’t build divine ruin, nor hunters get toxic blade against teams high in heals/ lifesteal. I am getting whatever is appropriate divine ruin/ beatstick / toxic blade; those items make me less tanky but it is extremely necessary to win. Or getting cursed ankh instead when my solo goes full dmg. Cursed ankh is okay when upgraded but having a shell or a sprint would be more useful for my team. I am literally everywhere on the map, trying to help out my team in any way I can. But in 90% games no one commits to what they say. They make calls, I follow the calls (it’s not like I’m a kid who just listens and goes 1v5 cuz I was told to, no, I am able to realise when my team CAN or CANNOT fight) but literally I am always left behind. And let’s say that my adc or a mage dies, just cuz my shell was on 1sec cd too late, or that I didn’t block that 1 out of 5 auto attacks resulting in him dying , then I am getting flamed on, literally verbally abused and also reported. I’m not perfect cuz , I don’t like my games boring so I am a little aggressive when it comes to early game initiations , but I don’t go for a suicidal mission and just leave my team 4v5. This was so infuriating, and now all I do is to play mage and sit at the back. I don’t care anymore, and even if I do trash, I get less blamed than the support or the adc. Sorry for this whole paragraph but I am soooo triggered when it comes to support role. Don’t get me wrong, I still love support even in other games outside smite, I’m always support, but in smite u get either ppl who are scared to go with u and be a tiny bit more aggressive causing pressure or u get ppl who make a call, so u go engage and then your team literally disengage as soon as they see a solo running at them. Oof

I get flamed more as Mid or Jungle than anything else. I've played support to avoid the toxic people. Strange you had the opposite experience.

WarHMMR they report me for not being able to body block (or shell/ med) all of the attacks that are coming at them, but at the same time they don’t do shiit about it. They literally back while facing the enemies which makes them slower, and they literally walk in a straight line like bots so that anything can kill them But of course , it’s my fault for how they play. Or when i spam BRB, they start 4v5 without me and then blame me for not tanking for them ... like bitch wtf

When playing support I like making the calls. For a few reason I'm every were much like the jungle and I'm more likely the engagement. I also giving team target for engagement and how and when I plan on making my moves also this means you need to be vocal call reset if a blink is taken from me. Now I will call game and I say peel that means everyone get yourself fucking out and back to base. If I'm going to die you better call it. Other things keep up with enemy abilities relics and ultimates. Information on the enemy team is so important and because of this. Not only does this go for supports but every on buy at least 1 ward every back.

Oh man, I love your last tip! Saw so many supporters, who wanted to steal the buff and got killed few seconds later. Aftet one minute the enemies grouped up and attacked one lane, at 4 vs 5 there is no chance to keep the phoenix alive

Just got back into smite, and started playing Artio again. This video helps alot 😅😅 Just yesterday, I had my teammate Ne Zha flaming me for "not doing my job" (they were jungle, didn't bother going for buffs at all, kept engaging alone, and flaming my other teammates. Idk lol). In the end, we were able to clutch the game as they stood in spawn, still trash talking lmao

Fenrir diamond support here. Another tip that goes with bad teammates is "realize who the carry is". More often than not if I notice my carry is missing abilities left and right and constantly making mistakes in positioning and in fights I will save my mid over them until late game. I would much rather save the life of my mid laner who can guarantee a kill every fight than an adc that is still in lane after 25 min.

I think 1 big thing people mess up with support as well is that newer players think its a mindless tank roll where you run forward and suck up damage with no strategy

You cannot stress the last point enough. The amount of times I've died just cause a brain dead ADC pushes too far out is ridiculous. It's one of the reasons I love playing Horus now because he's really idiot proof once you get good. Stun on your 2, knockup on 1 heal with 3 and if you have a semi competent teammate you can actually use the ult as it's meant to be used.

Honestly the only mistake on supp is building full defense, because what are you going to do if your team dies ? And the only other being carry getting angry thinking supp is just a meat shield, the definition of support is - to assist

I really like these tips. Im a support main myself and I cant stress these points enough. I will add a counterpoint to Med but its rather situational. In the early game when mana can be an issue it allows for added aggression. It can be held for a surprise surge. You and carry are low and have fallen back to tower while enemies are pressing. Jungle is on the way. Right before they get there you pop it and you both go hard as the jungle arrives for 1 or 2 kills. Granted this is provided you have vision on the enemy jungle. But overall i like med for the mana more than the health

I was on a huge Joust playstreak for a while, and I completely lost my support team fighting mindset. I would chase kills and leave my carries out to dry, but I have since corrected that. I cannot stress this enough: let the jungle and solo chase kills; that's their job; do your's

I’ve just started playing and these have been really helpful. My late game is trash; I get too aggressive and don’t realize I’m in too deep. I do pretty well in lane though when my carry doesn’t freak out and leave. I play Sylvanus and plant a seed at mid’s tower before creeps, run over do the same for us and meet for camp clearing. I can do it in time for the wave but I think they see me going mid and think I’m not following my role. I’ve been picking up blink but I’m not in love with it. Without wisps or shell the first wave push can get dicey if the opponent is hitting us hard. Think I’ll stop with blink relic.

People complain about mage support because of the believe of the support they expect a person who can tank the entire team cc withou problem and stay in the fight until someone gets a pentakill, but the support can be a utility mage, a warrior or an assasin, but everyone wants a tank.

I've got an entire guide: don't I absolutely love playing weird supports but healers don't work in the role. They have no items that actually work for the role If you want mages who can actually support: Eset, Nox and (much less) Baron. Build them like guardians

I feel that Cloak of Meditation is a bad rec. Like Bracer, it just falls off mega hard after antiheal (which you did mention sorta) and you basically have one relic for the rest of the game. Otherwise, pretty good tips.

I don’t know if you still read comments this late, but I am still confused about early-game rotations. I watch SPL players like Genetics who rotate after they finish boots and when their carry can defend for themselves a bit more because they are around lvl 5-6 and have their dash up, as well as can clear buffs fairly easily, as in they won’t be helpless. I was wondering if it would be more beneficial to rotate to mid once you have taken your farm, to allow your carry to get solo wave farm to make up for all the split farm early game, then rotate to gank if the enemy tank stays in duo lane to pressure my carry? I don’t know, I’m having a tough time deciding if I should continue to split farm with my carry for pressure, or gank with my mid or jungle, or both, and let my carry solo farm XP even though he would be out-pressured. Any thoughts?

I'm new to Smite, but played HoTs for 3 years. Was playing support the other day and playing what I thought was a good game and my toxic mid yelled at me when he would engage without me and immediately die. Is engaging not the job of the support? Do mids start engagements in smite?

When I'm using hel, and I start engagements, I get murdered. I kinda try to stand behind the adc, healing him and myself when needed, also sometimes rushing in with him side by side with hels dark stance. I STILL get murdered fairly quickly and often, but at least I set up the adc for a few more good hits or a kill

I’m not saying it was intelligent but one time as guan support I dove the fire giant to get a steal. Ended up getting a penta kill and the fire giant, so my balls grew. Edit: to clarify, my ult got them low enough that the FG killed them for me (lmao) and I just happened to still be in the circle, and FG had 300 hp left.
