As you add weight, e.g. heavier bumpers and loads, fuel usage goes up. Don't forget to balance safety/security/functionality with useful driving range.

The other thing is the more weight the more wear on ball joints and bearings.

I would also say that keeping your fuel tank half full is definitely important. I know that might be a pain to keep up, with multiple gas station trips a week. But if you have a "bug-out spot" a few hours away you do not want to have to stop for gas while heading their.

Most people can't change a tire or use jumper cables. This is level 10 😂

You should go with smaller rims if possible. 15 or 16 inch is optimal for off road and airing down. The larger rims are for on road handling. I don't know about your air compressor placement. I deal with flooded roads and fords frequently.

15-16 is nearly impossible with these new heavy duties due to the brake rotor size. My 22 2500 Ram the smallest I can go is 17s

That’s old school. Ain’t gonna get a smaller wheel than a 17 on a modern truck.
@johnlatsch97204 ай бұрын
@@IFHSP2 I know that. Newer truck are more about comfort and road handling the new defender has 20" rims and you will damage the tires if you air them down. Oh and don't let the battery go flat on it. You need a laptop with an internet connection to get it running again.

Damn I have fuel envy. Have a Silverado gasser and gasoline options for 1500’s is very limited. I’d throw money at a larger fuel tank for my truck.

What you need is #1 MONEY, lots of it. Because this stuff is expensive. And forget about a lift kit. Get portals instead. Much better. You keep the factory suspension, but you gain lift, and ground clearance. And you get better gearing if you decide to install bigger wheels. Don't have to re-gear your axles.

@@crueheadone6977don’t need a brand new truck to do all the same upgrades. 1995 F250 with a C channel bumper, winch, 4” lift will be in the same situation. Plus you have a vehicle that’s maintainable and not reliant on computers meaning you can run wmo/wvo fuel without issues when fuel stations run out.

An EMP Shield module should be #1. That truck and all those mods will be nothing but an expensive boat anchor follow a coronal mass ejection or EMP event. Around $400 and easy DIY.
