Well, I agree with your list 100%. I would add another fact though. The fact that most of the sim racers are elitist towards those who like playing arcade racers. I mean, it is not a crime that somebody likes arcade racers, or that most of us cannot afford even the cheapest proper sim rig to start sim racing, but many "sim racers" act like it is. This is what I hate the most and the fact that I don't have enough money to buy myself a good sim setup in order to start playing more sim games, pisses me off.

The thing is the NFS Games considerably got worse and worse in terms of physics after Rivals (and 3 least IMO). I think that's what most people are complaining about. Because on other aspects, the new games really look great. Especially the last three games that clearly were an attempt to go back to NFS's golden era of open world street racing. Custom, car roster, story, graphics, everything else is at least okay BUT physics. I understand people's disappointment. I am myself disappointed to see such arcady physics that look even less realistic than a Burnout game.
@Otherface
@Otherface 3 жыл бұрын
@@lgd_stryker2971 yes, but people talk about everything except graphics. Not only physics. And that's the problem: ignore the problems and pretend that a game is perfect. Take Carbon as an exampld. Is a copy + paste of Mw2005, but is easier to say that Payback is exacly the same as nfs2015 Don't get me wrong. I get what you are saying. In fact, physics are the reason why i haven't enjoyied and complete nfs2012. Those damn crash cameras.

There's no way you disappoint us, because most of us are not here to watch how fast you are. I follow you for at least 5 years, and what always brings me back here is your love for racing, and how you are able to express yourself through driving. 99% of what I've learned about racing was through your videos, and the most important lesson was about how respect is important in this environment. I understand how frustrating it can be when you can't improve, but don't feel that way. If you feel the need to focus on one game or discipline to be better, do it. But if you feel you can't, well, most of us also can't. I loved this week daily races on GT Sports, for instance, but I'm not playing them because of how tired I am from work. I also try to upload my races here on YT, but that is not a thing that I manage to do as much as I wanted to. And that's actually pretty normal. So don't push too hard on yourself, you do a great job for the community, you helped and still help a lot of people get into racing sims, me included. Just do what you feel is better for you and we'll be here to watch it. Take care! From a Brazilian fan

I have the same problem as you. Seems like every sim-racer that has been doing this for a while goes trough this phase. I also forget to enjoy myself when racing, because I think of the team I am working with and their expectations and I don't want to dissapoint them, I let the pressure get to me. Lately this is how I've resolved it. Forget about expectations, forget about what **could** happen, just race and you will find yourself back into that place of enjoyment. You will also perform even better then before from what I've experienced. We are human beings, we put the barriers ourselves, so just forget the pressure and have some fun. Hope I helped you! You are spot on. The biggest issue in any “video game” is the lack of consequences. In real life people have to worry about getting hurt, or hurting other people or causing expensive damage to themselves or other participants. That lack of fear automatically gives them free reign to act anyway they want. It’s like Barry Bonds wearing all that body armor when he was at bat. He had zero fear of consequences. Part of any sport is fear. Fear of losing, fear of getting hurt. How can anyone compete against someone who literally has no fear of consequences. If people behaved in real life like they do in video games, chances are they’d have had the shit kicked out of them at some point. As sad as that may sound the threat of physical violence, or fear of being outcast by your friends and family, has a large affect on how we all behave as human beings.

Man, I love your videos. You've helped me improve a lot at sim-racing. About the last point, after playing a lot of GT offline over the years, I started to think I was a good at it, until my first online race where I finished last and out-lapped, which made me feel very embarrassed and frustrated, haha! Now I know I don't have to prove anything to anyone. Now I just go out on the track and make my race, enjoying every minute of it and try to do my best. I don't judge my performance by how many people I beat, but how much I improve my driving and my times. I usually end up at the bottom half of the table, but I don't care, I do this for the fun, not the wins. Every once in a while I get to surprise myself and get a great result, but I never let that define me, because that's not why I play videogames for. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is if something you do doesn't make you happy, stop doing it and focus on what you really enjoy. Cheers!

Funny that you've posted it just today. Got into sim racing just a few weeks ago. Worked my ass off for a decent safety rating to compete on 'serious' servers. Took part in my first online race today in ASC. I mean, tried it before in Project Cars 2 but it felt like one big, happy demolition derby so I gave up instantly. Somehow got the pole in the quali, yay! Got chased down by a pack of 3-4 faster guys and... bumped off the track. Worked my way back to 3rd, attacked no 2, and just as we were side by side, the bastard shoved me into the barriers. Screw that, I hoped to have found a new hobby to soothe my nerves, got pissed off even more instead! :D

I don't know if you will even get to see this but regardless I felt compelled to write a comment and share my humble opinion. You mentioned 5 things in the video, there are plenty more things out there that are maybe even more annoying to be honest, but one that shouldn't be there is yourself. While I may not be a youtuber or someone important at all, I can tell you that your videos have always been entertaining and fun to watch, even while you were playing PC1 and AC on PS4 back in the day. I didn't stick around because of your incredible speed or super high budget videos, but simply because those little annotations and quick jokes made the races super fun to watch, over time I saw you get involved with some teaching and also those championships you ran in different games, it all was fun to watch, even while secretly expecting you to win it was nice to see the skills and racecraft of those involved and how you had to overcome all that, to the point where it didn't really matter who won, I actually just wanted to see good racing and that's what I was getting thanks to you. Then I realized it was mostly the funny personality coming through the comments or nowadays, the narration, but I believe you have those 170k subscribers because we all enjoy your funnyness, not just to see if you win or not, and those who expect you to win every race really have to rethink why they are here and realize that winning always isn't possible, but having fun is. To finish, just keep doing what you love and if you feel the pressure of this job getting to you, I believe no one could blame you for taking a break or maybe just trying to race incognito to find the enjoyment of having races where the outcome has no weight whatsoever. Thank you viperconcept, for all the fun through-out the years. (and sorry for the wall of text)

I can point out EACH of those 5 in various leagues I'm in (or WAS in, sadly). I have a #1 in my own league, unfortunately. I can point out several others who fall under 2 or more of them simultaneously. Viper, your channel is simply the best. Instead of a "hey, watch me race" attitude that most of the top content makers have, you actually inform, inspire and impart your knowledge while making ZERO assumptions. I often complain about today's sims myself, but to their credit, I STILL go back to them despite their flaws. Don't change what you're doing, either, whether it's content or direction. I don't have a console, but the fact that you produce a lot of GT Sport videos does not bother me at all. I know your subscribers are mostly console, anyway. CHEERS!

You don’t have to be the best to be a good teacher, and you’ve been one to me since the first day I got interested in sim-racing. I’ve been following your content for at least 3 years and I still look to notes I’ve taken from your setup lessons. All I can say is, don’t be afraid. You’ve never disappointed me in this 3 yrs time and it may be the fear inside you is blocking the way to improve. I don’t know if that would help with anything, but I know that giving respect and love would. I love your videos man! Keep up!

I have to say, in my opinion, this was your most enjoyable video in a long time, don't know why though. Lacking respect in the games is actually what I hate most, I love all races where you can truly fight for the place and everyone is giving their best while being fair to each other. Now to the "I am better than you blah blah" - part, it is obvious, that you aren't the best sim racer, but I can understand your problem with switching the games for KZbin, also, everyone is different, some just have the genetics if you know what I mean, I consider myself a competitive sim-racer too, even though I do not race in championships, but I try to see this as fun and putting all my time and effort into sim-racing to try to be the best would be no fun for me at all haha, so keep enjoying what you do and I would be glad to do a fun race with you or in general the positive minded people in here 👍

But here's the thing, YOU are the one who motivates me to play sim racing games. When i watch you video it seems like i was the one who plays. And just like you said in this video, viperconcept might have some weak points, but that doesn't mean that you don't have any strong points. So keep it up, bro 😁. Much love from Indonesia❤️

about the Top1, don't be discouraged about skill not on par with your expectations. By right you must push yourself to the limit, but remember to take a short rest when you need it. I rmb one mentor told me: if you feel pressured about things which happened around you, clear you mind and think about this yourself, what and why is the reason is your purpose of doing things you are currently doing right now. You need to remember the feelings of why you want to do that thing back then. This will surely pushed yourself to move forward. Cheers! I will support mentally tho, even i don't have money to donate your channel.😂

I've come across all of the same frustrations, and I completely agree with you. In fact, I have some friends who fall into some of these categories, when it comes to sim racing. Taking one of my friends as an example, he was an effective FM7-style rammer on the track, because he only ever treated his driving like a time attack/hotlap, rather than adjusting to drive in such a way to fight positions respectfully. As a result, I often lost to him in 1V1s, as he would just slam me at T1 and we'd both end up driving hotlap style for the rest of the race, as he laughed over it and told me to get good. The best part, is that I would almost always gain a lot of the time I had lost on T1 over the course of the rest of the race, which I'm going to take that as an indicator that I'm the better driver. As for criticizing or glorifying games endlessly, I also find similar issues with that, and sometimes the polarized viewpoints sends enough mixed signals to frustrate me when it comes to choosing my next title. As a personal example of my own set of criticisms, I play both FM7 and FH4, and I find both of them are very fun, but they both present massive issues, partially in gameplay, partially in the online community. The driving physics engine is shared between the two, and I've personally found that it's far better than what many give the engine credit for. Vehicles feel natural to drive, the physics of grip loss are well done, and the sensation of power is transmitted well, not only via my wheel's FFB, but also visually, which I can imagine helps controller users significantly. The problems in FM7 come in the abusive community that developed in the middle of its life before the penalty flag system was implemented; I've found that said community still very much exists, they just have to work a little harder to manage to knock you off before they get ghosted. On the flipside, FH4 encourages taking destructive routes, by providing a more vague route where you can go anywhere on the destructible terrain, so long as you pass between the checkpoint flags. This checkpoint system is flawed, in that just as a rammer can push you off track in FM7, skmeone with less respect can cut you off and force you to take a checkpoint corner just barely outside of the bounds, and the checkpoint tolerances seem to be incredibly strict in that even if you manage to get a tire right om the edge of that flag base, it won't count and you have to reset. The priblem could have been mostly solved by adding a second, outer hitbox to the checkpoint, and if the vehicle lasses through that instead of the main hitbox, check if there was a vehicle blocking way to determine if it counts. People could still be arses encouraged by the flag system, but they'd be at least relatively deterred. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like that'll ever happen. Regardless, I love both games and play them anyway, despite my criticisms of how their communities have learned to abuse their less than stellar systems. Overall, at the end of the day I'm most disappointed in myself, because I'm quickly approaching the limits of my current skill, trying to figure out ways to race with these types of people whom play with no respect for track limits or the other people om the track, and keep having various things happen to me at even the slightest slip-up next to one of these drivers, oftentimes ruining my fun and immersion, and also costing my any chance of placing a decent position in the event that I'm trying to play competitively.

I felt this video wholeheartedly, ESPECIALLY the last reason. I feel like I’m in the same boat. I’m trying so hard to improve because racing and motorsports have been my passion for ages. Sometimes I spend long hours in sessions trying to beat my times yet I’m still nowhere near close to what is considered a fast pace. I try so hard that it frustrates me and I often forget to just enjoy myself as you said as well. But I want to add one more thing. The fact that I don’t have alot of people to go to for advice/racing with. I’ve tried with people in the past but it hasn’t worked out the best. So it often feels like I’m in the journey alone.

Also, you literally taught me how to drive, and the heel & toe technique! So I got into sim-racing too, and I love it, just like you! That's why I think your channel is so special, and I'd rather keep watching your content instead of the #1 iRacing or AC sim-racer, any day! Anyways, I think I agree with your list, except for number 1; just enjoy the games!

Even if you put the best performance there will always someone to complain... So just enjoy, if you enjoy what you do, it will be fun to watch anyway (even if you make some errors) 😉 From what I read on the comment section your community is really nice people and they don't expect from you such pressure 😁 Keep up the good work man ! You seems to be a really nice and humble guy ! Keep doing and enjoy it! 👍

I think a lot of people in the sim racing community can't seem to grasp the understanding that whether you play an arcade game like GT5 or Forza or a sim game like Iracing or Assetto Corsa if that person enjoys playing it and has fun then so be it. No need to rain down on a person's fun just because your game is more realistic than theirs

The thing i personally hate the most about simracers is that most of them have never driven a real car on track and while thats totally understandable, i found the racecraft of many "fast" simracers awful. Im not saying people who dont drive irl shouldnt be allowed to race online, but it kind of ruins the immersion when you are trying to take it seriously and someone pushes you past your braking zone or if you on purpose choose a wide line for the first turn to avoid any contact and someone cuts you off or punts you off to the side anyway because they are following the perfect line as if the first lap time matters. Most people ive seen will dive down the inside missing their braking point, crashing you out of the track and then blame you because you didnt leave them space. Unless you are using vr or multiple monitors its hard to spot things in the mirrors and the person behind you should take all the caution and responsibility, but they dont because iM fAsTeR LeT mE By.

Swaggers can also be people who don't think they are the fastest (or best). They may be people who, for example, are a fan of another youtuber and want that youtuber to rise. To be more precise, they don't do anything to raise the other youtuber. They basically drop you to make the other youtuber look higher. Btw I love your vids! I'd have two corollary to your points ! *1- The Driving Model Elitist* (aka "every game should drive like Grand Prix Legends")* The kind of people who equate "realistic" with "hard to drive", and for who a car that doesn't try to kill you in every corner on spin on each braking zone isn't "realistic". For that reason they also tend to despise modern cars in simulations. When GTR2 came out some 15 years ago, I remember there was some controversy on how the cars seem "easy" to drive, or when ACC cars had TC and ABS. Well turns out that's how a modern GT car is, easy to *drive* but hard to *race* on the limits. They are designed to be confortable to drive consistently over long stints, even for gentlemen drivers. You can pretty easily get "acceptable" lap times and be in the pack but when you want to fight for the win you have to go into the sweat zone ! Choosing the modern cars doens't mean you don't have balls or you like boring stuff (you know, from the "it was better in the old days" crowd), you can be fascinated by today's technology or finding the modern cars, that go wicked fast, fun to drive ! *2- Insulting the devs* Imagine. You are a dev, you worked hard on a game, with the limited ressources you have, the licences you could muster, and you ship your game, at a fair price. And then a swarm of idiots who didn't know what's behind the scenes come and tell you how it should be done, or lament about this or that feature, or say you don't know how to make a game. I see this all the time. You can not like some aspect of a game, each one has its weaknesses, but you have to respect the work and try to understand "why" some aspects are the way they are. Take for example the damage on the Codemasters F1 games, there's a reason : licencing issues with the sponsors who want their logos to be always visible. Yet there were irate people insulting Codemasters...

People who drive a stage at full speed but somehow they still have time to admire and bash graphics or sound for example. (people who wont be satisfied) 2. People who just spread wrong information or act like their opinions are facts. 1. People who will only drive certain stages that they know completly even without pace notes but they refuse to play other ones. (Some of those really fast Esport drivers)
