Now all I need is a competitive deck and a venue that's in my state!

To save time in paper, its a big thing to have a economy of actions. That means, if you have to shuffle after a tutor effect, mark the library with like a dice and only shuffle if you have to draw a card or anything that requires it. Otherwise, just do your actions of the turn, and do the shuffling after you pass the turn or another downtime for you. If people use a fetchland and then shuffle, just to say go after, that wasted like 30 seconds to the table, for absolutely nothing.

I actually ask peopel if they are done a lot if they sit and shuffle just for shuffling sakes. I also ask if people have anymore actions after the fetchlands resolves and if we can shourt cut. Just because I think about time limit.

I would like to add a couple things to the list: 1. Call judges is good advise, DO NOT harass judges or the TO if there's a software error or something similar and it's making the next round take a while to come up. Yes, they know about it. Yes, they are working on it. No, they don't know when the next round will be for certain, but you asking is slowing the process because they have to stop and answer you and you are certainly not the first to ask. 2. If you need to eat and you last round went to time, conceding the next round is an awsome way to give you time to get food, more so if you already have a loss in the tournament. You aren't going to make the top cut anyways, go get food and relax for a round. This let's you be ready for every round afterwards and can do wonders for your mood and play style.

I feel like these tips even extend to long gaming sessions with friends. My friends and I have noticed that we become more agitated as we play for hours after hours after hours without breaks. We didn't like the mood we were creating after hours of stressful gameplay, so we started to take breaks between games; even taking 10 minute breaks between games to sit in another chair, walk around, and drink water, was very refreshing and helped us in our 12 hour marathons.

@@cedhtv Yeah, during COVID, my core group could spend almost the entire weekend together. Friday from 6p-3a. Saturday from 12p-2a. Then maybe some on Sunday also, if we weren't totally exhausted

5:46 I actually enjoy time between rounds. Snack, restroom, visit the vendors, trade with other attendees. Additionally, it clears my mind so nothing lingers into the next game.

Responding to tip #1: So validating! I don’t have to feel like an outsider for messing with decks that I enjoy. #2: My tail is between my legs. I’m amazed by how quickly players can assemble their lines #3-#4: We can’t forget that our body gives us feedback as the day goes on. I have a dream of optional standing and outdoor tables. Imagine: The Commander Picnic :)

Just speaking for a "friend" The long turn in question was with a PITA with about half of the deck exiled to a tainted pact. He feels like that's a worthy excuse :D
