Johnny is right about the choice when it comes to him vs V keeping the body. V has been fighting the entire game to avoid it, that no matter how much they like each other and how distinctly altered on every level both mentally, physically, and even genetically; that Johnny is an intruder in his body placed there by fucked up Arasaka tech.
@iwanttopotato8848 Жыл бұрын
I don't think that there truly is a right choice here, except the Arasaka thing which is obviously not a good ending. It's V's body and he has the right to own it, but at the same time depending on your choices you can build quite a connection between V and Johnny, being then faced with the choice of "taking the bullet for him". V being with Johnny has changed him as a person, both in terms of decision making and who he is, but Johnny being there with someone else 24/7 has also changed him, from being a rocker boy terrorist that only wishes upon the downfall of corpos to someone who learnt that sometimes, it's just not worth the fight. You lose the people that your care about to damage a corporation. The corporation will bounce back, but your friends and loved ones won't. You can leave with Panam (and Judy) and live the rest of your life with the people you love and care about, or you can storm Arasaka with Rogue. Personally I don't like either of those options because it involves you sacrificing someone for your own crusade. Storming the place just with Johnny is straight up suicide, but at the same time it makes the most sense. One last attempt to keep your body (or not), with a secondary objective of releasing everyone stuck in Mikoshi as well. At the end of the road we have the end of the road. The path you take on the roof because it's the easy way out and the one that puts the less amount of people in danger. This is the one that struck me the most emotionally, specially after having a very good connection with Johnny. That little conversation of just accepting how things are just hit home.
@MrVvulf Жыл бұрын
@@iwanttopotato8848 Don't forget to factor in the engram component. After Mikoshi, the "real" V is gone. He/She is now an engram, just like Johnny. As Alt points out in the "Transmission" quest, V's soul will be gone after the separation process. Soulkiller is not just a name. According to the various documentation found in the game world there is a range of 70-90% personality fidelity between a human subject and their engrammatic copy, NOT 100%. Additionally, there's no real reason to believe that Alt doesn't keep a "copy" of V for her own purposes even after the separation from Johnny. Depending on how Alt's programming works she might automatically keep a copy of V unless she (it) specifically "cleans up" the copied file that is the engrammatic V.

@cyberflex11 Жыл бұрын
@@MrVvulf I forgot about the idea that Alt would pull both V and Johnny out of the body first before putting back only the engram of whoever is going to have control of the body, so that's a good point. Lots of people will choose to give the body to V thinking it'll just be them as normal when it is an engram of V, not the original article. I chose give the body to Johnny. The way I saw it, V died the night they stole the Arasaka biochip with Jackie and got shot point blank in the head by Dexter DeShawn. The biochip and Johnny gave them an extra shot at life, but everything V did after that point was playing house money. Six months is not a long time, and well know that V wanted to leave a big legacy and whatnot, but storming Arasaka tower with Johnny in the "Don't Fear the Reaper" option and giving the body to Johnny to live out a quiet and peaceful life seemed the best option to me.

@@cyberflex11 I think it's kinda effed up to force Johnny to live out the rest of his life in the body of the person he was determined to and failed to save. Why'd you want to punish someone you supposedly care for like this? Even if Johnny completely changes V's look and gender (in case of female V), he'll still know, for the rest of his life, it's V's body he's living in. That he only gets to live because yet another person died for him. And it's also a shitty thing to do to your friend, eff off with Alt and leave it to your supposed friend to explain to YOUR friends why you're gone and it's now Johnny living in your body. How do you think they'll react when they find out? Probably about as well as Rogue ...

In the end if you have good relation with Johnny and if you choose the dialogue "I would take a bullet for you" in one of the Tapeworm quest. Johnny changes his mind about taking V's body. In the end if you still chose to give him the body, during the time walking the long corridor Johnny will actually try to stop you and reason with V. During this time I got emotional but still walked that path. When you come to the end of the corridor Johnny is sad for this choice, V was the only true and loyal friend he ever had. During the ending where you play as Johnny for the final time he will make comments about V to a kid he is with as well for the finaly he goes to where V is buried and give him his necklace with the bullet he was shot with by Dex to pay respect to him. I kinda wish that for the “Don’t fear the reaper” ending there was a choice to somehow merge v and Johnny. Because at that point they are best of buds who literally went through hell together, and by that point in the story Johnny was softened a little by spending time with v and experiencing life through their eyes. And V was also getting a little more reckless because of Johnny as well, so there was some bleed through that could have given a merge ending.

I know Honako and Goro made a big deal that " No one else in the world could help V but them " but of course they would say that, V is the walking talking science project and their looking for first place at the fair, but honestly we would never know what someone else could or could not do, so its not unreasonable to think that maybe......just maybe one of Panams contacts could actually help out V and they could go on living their life.

Biggest wrench for me in deciding whether to give V's body is the fact that it's not "Johnny". Even the new shard you get from Hellman in the Phantom Liberty DLC along with the Relic 2.0's blueprint tells us that the constructs they tested on to bodies only retain around 80% coherence from their original psyches. I do however believe that more will be revealed & the very beginning of Orion will have the Government "activating" either by the holo, if he is like Winter Soldier now with activation phrases or they will kidnap him & allow a shard to inform him what all they did during the fake coma (I believe he was used as an asset & then his memory of the events were wiped as well as having some sort of implant or nano-machines in him suppressing his Cyberware) This allows CDPR to start the game with a high action mission with V using the best cyberware, as a way to show new players... then, something will happen during the mission which will cause V to start again from square one... but with revenge against NUSA in his mind.

To me, choosing between who gets V's body wasn't that tough because I save right before the choice so I can experience both endings. Though I do wish the game had been a little more creative with the Johnny ending rather than having the exact same one over and over with a few minor variations.

Yes...I think I've now done all the variations of The Pickup. I've decided that taking Merideth's cred chip and killing Royce in the very first confrontation in the optimum way to go. IMO Doom-Doom isn't worth it [and by no means an assured pickup later at Totentanz either] and I get along fine with a different Satara shotgun that has a _much_ lower charge time than even a Legendary version. I don't think that fighting my way out of Whole Foods later is the toughest exit either. Later, I've felt cheated by being able to get out of Totentanz with Nancy without a fight. Fighting Maelstromers give me joy. 4] Fighting my way out of the VDB's hideout also gives me joy, so that's generally the way I go. It seems anticlimactic just to find them dead and walk out [except for Placide]. 3]Figuring out how to handle the Doll Revolution and Maiko is a tough one...no really good answers. I've never taken Maiko's money however...my V just isn't that mercenary. 2] Since I operate on the principle that Johnny always gives you a bad take on situations [rescuing Takamura, anyone?] I generally reject his opinion...anyway, I find those 'child' personalities annoying both before and after the side job. Resetting Delamain I feel is optimum, but obviously it an arguable point. 1] For me, it's a coin toss whether or not to let Johnny take V's body. Certain death soon [apparently] even in the loving company of family and friends seems pretty unappealing weighed against a chance at some kind of continued existence in Alt, mystery though that is [the religious analogy fairly obvious here]. But that heartbreaking call from Judy...it takes a huge amount of moral certitude not to let that convince you that you made a bad choice.

The “synthesis” option in the Delamain quest line I believe is a reference to the end of the novel Neuromancer, which is typically claimed to be the origin of the Cyberpunk genre and one of the main inspirations for Pondsmith’s original Cyberpunk rpg. The ending has the protagonist merge the two AIs, Neuromancer (a strictly logical AI) and Wintermute (a highly unpredictable and “emotional” AI), into one super AI that escapes into cyberspace as a newer form of life. In the later novels, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive, the AI takes on the role of Voodoo gods in cyberspace and eventually leaves Earth when it believes it’s found some kind of alien life or computer system many light years away (though it’s kept very ambiguous what exactly it discovered) I’m thinking the Delamain quest is littered with these references, and perhaps that’s what it ends up doing sometime after 2077?

I gave the body to Johnny in my first playthrough. The only reason I went back and redid it was because at the end with all the voicemails, I romanced Kerry, and turns out Johnny didn't even tell Kerry what happened, and he believes you just dumped him without a word. The only person Johnny tells is Rogue, which like... C'mon dude, after everything you could've at least had the decency to tell V's friends what happened. So I redid it to do Don't Fear The Reaper leading into The Sun ending, which arguably is the best ending if you romanced Kerry and you care about the character relations. I love trying to play this game through a bit of extra roleplaying. My first playthrough was basically my gut reaction to everything, but afterwards I came up with the idea of doing three more playthroughs, three archetypes matching the three life paths, and perfect them all the way through. Take All Foods for example. My nomad is as close to a good person as you'll find in this story, and a bit naive being so far removed from the city, so I take the spiked chip and pay with it, causing Maelstrom to turn on me. I expose the traitor and end up getting on Meredith's good side. For street kid, who's obviously going to be smarter about this kind of deal, I hack the chip and side with Maelstrom against Militech, because fuck the corp. And lastly, for my heartless corpo, walk in and kill Royce at the first opportunity. I carry this philosophy through every job and every decision, and it's actually made me think really hard about how each choice fits a certain kind of person, or the story at large. All said and done, the ENDING is actually the easiest choice to make with my method, since they line up quite clearly.
@Ace2014Ace Жыл бұрын
The final choice never had the option i would do. V has all the corp's resources and the blueprints for the chip. Make another, then use soulkiller on himself and have Vicktor slot it in. The chip will rework the body to work for V again. Simple.

For the final one... The one I like the most, and also the one that is the greater gut-punch (for me) is storming Arasaka with Rogue, as Johnny. Then having Johnny enter Mikoshi, V already knowing everything was for nothing, and explaining ir to us. As far as My limited understanding goes: If V told Jhonny he would take a bullet for him, but at the same time kept a fairly antagonizing attitude towards Jhonny, V literally ends up beating the crap out of Jhonny if Jhonny (us) decides to go away with Alt. With that in place: I like to play as Jhonny starting going away with Alt, having V beating the crap out of us, calling us hypocrite in a thousand ways... And finally conceiving and taking the body for good. That's the ending that is the absolute most gut wrenching to me. "I don't think I'll ever forget You... Hell, I'm wearing your goddamn face!" That being My most masochistically favorite one, the other one is Aldecaldos, leaving with Panam: V gets the body. Ot might be only six months... But at least we managed to delta out of the fucked up system, Even if for just a bit

@hot_soup4319 Жыл бұрын
When it comes to endings I always choose The Star cause even if V is ultimately damned, she at least gets to live out her final days with Judy and be some semblance of happy. Though I will say, I wish there was some sort of more appropriate "Temperance" ending. The Temperance ending we have has Johnny take over V's body completely effectively overwriting and erasing her like the relic is meant to do. Temperance in Tarot as I understand is all about balance, its card description in-game reading as: "Temperance is the card of balance. It may symbolize self-restraint or the gradual shift toward a more mature state of equilibrium. Temperance is associated with being in control of oneself as well as the desire to achieve inner peace." Johnny taking us over is more akin to the "Strength" card as it deals with internal struggle, its description reading as: "Strength is the card of resilience. It is associated with determination, bravery, and internal struggle. One must have dedication in order to overcome obstacles and reach one's goal. Strength is about physical prowess and spiritual fortitude - the power that must be unleashed to achieve the impossible." The "inner-struggle" of course being Johnny having to live in V's body and forever having to deal with that knowledge, but having the fortitude and resilience to cope with it all despite it. The "achieving the impossible" being finally leaving NC, something almost nobody ever does. I think Temperance should've fallen in-line with what Anders tells V, and the conversation V and Johnny have right after, the concept of them merging together into one personality. Johnny mentions in that convo that he also starts seeing V's memories as his at times, and he starts to take on V's personality much like V takes on his. I think Temperance should've been the merging into one person, V obviously taking full control but ending up with many of Johnny's habits and skills. An excellent way to portray this would be that if as V you never choose to smoke, the first action in the ending would be V reflexively lighting up and smoking a cigarette much like Johnny would. Or pehaps V would know how to play all of the Samurai songs/guitar riffs despite never learning them, or V being very quick to anger towards anything Corp/Arasaka-related, stuff only Johnny would do. The ending would revolve mostly around V coming to terms with Johnny being gone, but still being reminded constantly that she's now very much like him due to the personality merging. Eventually learning to live with it in the end, this'd be the equilibrium and inner-peace the Temperance card refers to, V having changed forever and being okay with it. Phantom Liberty launches very soon and with it comes the unlocking of that mysterious Relic tree, this would insinuate that we're somehow able to tap into the relic's power to enhance ourselves. This is why I hope the "new ending" being eluded to fits along the narrative of the relic being modified or tampered with just enough to allow V to live her full life and be free of Johnny tagging along, but still in certain ways being stuck with Johnny due to a full melding of V to the relic, causing a personality merge of the two. Of course this is all baseless speculation on my part, the "new ending" could just be a riff on the "The Sun" ending or something. Mostly I just want my definitive "happy ending" where Judy and V manage to live happily ever after free of the inevitable death countdown timer. Then again the age old adage "There are no happy endings in Night City." does always seem to ring true doesn't it?
@thecheck9683 ай бұрын
I think temperance still works here and may be even more poignant than if V and Johnny’s personalities literally merged. V is still living on in Johnny, not through some Arasaka tech, but because of the connection those two formed as friends. It’s like Rogue said, V is a good influence in Johnny, but they never override part of his personality. Johnny’s new appreciation of life is his decision to honor his friend’s life each day. And in a world so full of tech and artificiality, there’s something very human about that. It puts more burden on Johnny to remember V which makes him doing so all that much meaningful. But hey, I just finished the game for the first time last night. This could be a whole lot of copium from me wrapping my head around what I did.

My most difficult choice was defo to either join Secure Your Soul or return to Earth, I chose return to Earth instinctively because I didnt want to be locked up by Arasaka but looking back at it, its defo a tough decision, you either choose the chance to live even if it means Arasaka could just straight up decide to go back on their word (unlikely due to Hanako's message at the end of the return choice as Arasaka sees the value in V) or they can give V a new body but tamper with his memories to make him obedient, while returning to Earth is just straight up depressing as you betrayed on of your best friends in the game (if you played that way) being Johny not to mention make Saburo Arasaka immortal and you also basically abandon everyone who mattered to you, like Panam, Kerry, River, Judy, Misty, Victor and more and then when V rips off the necklace Misty made for him from Dex's bullet to his brain, it truly hits that abandoning everyone, betraying Johny AND all the struggles just for a chance to stay alive as well as all the pain V suffers thanks to chip is all for nothing, at least with the Sun and the STar ending, there is a chance V gets to live and we dont know because Ill be damned that Panam wont try till her last breath to keep V alive and in the SUn ending, V could have made a deal with that client to help him live on, with returning to Earth, V is back to square 1 with nothing left to explore as options to live

My first play through I went through with killing Moseley and ended up zeroing the VB’s. I would consider that the best outcome because both of them were just using you, Netwatch won’t miss one agent and the VB’s are just straight up villains

Dum Dum's name is not a reference to the Doom franchise. It is a reference to dum dum bullets, which are expanding head bullets first produced in that Indian city.

He does says it's the gun, which is called Doom Doom, that is the reference to Doom and not Dum Dum, the owner.

This kinda reminds me of Thronebreaker: the choices you made there were incredibly difficult. Very often you had to basically choose the lesser evil and most of them had some kind of impact later on in the game. CDPR are excellent at this.

If you meet with Meredith and hack the chip she gives you (to get the quick hack) then kill Royce and save Brick (optional), you can get the Chaos Pistol and meet up with Meredith at the hotel and get the dildo bat. So there's a way to get 2 of the 4 quest weapons.

8:07 That is incorrect. Remember, the plan was to trace and attack all the voodoo boys at once later. Alt is the one who stopped the trace and purged all the voodoo boys prematurely. Had the trace been allowed to proceed, V would more than likely have been able to leave without violence before Netwatch attacked them.

The two unalive related ends were honestly amazing alternative options on opposite ends of the spectrum. Tap out on your own terms or do it taking as many as you can (unless you actually pull it off that is.) The ending with Johnny and V fighting each other to make the OTHER one take over was also kind of a sad moment if Johnny grew on you at all. Neither wanted their friend to die.
@spartan3294 Жыл бұрын
For the Judy vs. Maiko part, if you pull out your weapons and attack Maiko and the Claws when Judy tells you to stop things (before Maiko betrays you) this will in the jail Judy quest/romance line causing her to leave Night City

After finishing the game the first time around I always though of Alt as one of the worst villains in this game, instead of just letting V/Johnny and the rest of the engrams go and roam the net on their own, keeping their own personalities. Maybe with a hope to return in some sort of avatar whenever tech progresses a bit further. But Alt just devours souls like some disgusting eldritch monstrosity. And its not like an engram can't have any emotions as seems by our dealings with Johnny. No Alt is just pure evil.

The ending choice going with Panam is the best outcome for V IMHO. No one we care about is really doing anything against their will - while people die and there is a predicted death for V in the not too distant future - there are people with V who love them and will do what they can to find a solution. This ending is good for Judy if she comes with you - far better than her life before and her skills will be invaluable with the Aldecados. As for Johnny? He died years ago and his Engram is not equivalent to a living person's consciousness. I'm convinced that almost everyone who tells V that they are going to die has a good reason to lie or offer an unfavorable reading of the evidence - the only one I trust is Vik - but he isn't an expert. What I really want to know is what changes with Phantom Liberty. Do we have any changes to endings? A better ending? We will see!

I liked the part of the endeing where v said she wouldn't want to be responsible for killing a friend, which reminded me of early game where misty is saying killing yourself early is lettinf 2 souls die, so I really liked the idea of Johnny living longer

Wait, Placide's trench coat holds 4 mods??? I never looked twice at his trench coat because there are higher base armor legendary outer torsos (I always wait until level 50 and get the Wraith bolero jacket from one of Dakota's gigs). Thanks for that info, and I'm loving these deep dive vids!
@MrVvulf Жыл бұрын
If you saw an "Outer Torso" with 4 slots...that's old footage. In the original game there were more mod slots available. I don't remember which patch lowered the total, but as of patch 1.62 (current patch) Placide's trenchcoat always has 1 mod slot, and an inherent mod of 50% Electric damage resistance.
@SofaKingWashed Жыл бұрын
@@MrVvulf I didn't see it, he said it. I thought it was pretty random that that one particular armor would have 4. And to your point, I think it was patch 1.3 or 1.5 that the armor mod changes/perk overhaul was made.

@@SofaKingWashed Yeah, I left comment before that part of the video when Sam says 4, because I knew that 4 isn't possible any more. Thx for patch info.

The key is saving tbh. The game gives you a chance to choose as many outcomes as you want. If you cant reverse a certain mistake, the game is still fun replaying from new game.

I always go for the Delamain synthesis choice. Same reason my mass effect ending was always synthesis. Taking two or more flawed lifeforms and creating something stronger, better. Two easy choices are first, wether or not to kill the voodoos who betrayed you, TWICE! Placide and then Brigitte had no intention of helping us. Then there's wether or not to betray Judy. You do NOT, EVER betray our sweet, precious Judy!
@kingol4801 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. With Delamain it is odd. Either way they die in a conventional sense, and others live.

my first playthrough, I think I got a pretty unique Pickup/Maelstrom outcome, I met with Meredith, then hacked the chip, then told Maelstrom about it, so then I fought Militech on the way out, but I must not have realized that Royce died in the fight towards the end, and ALSO because it was my first playthrough, and didn't know everything that was going on, I somehow found the detonator for Brick before finding his room, and clicked the button not realizing what it did, so when I got to Totentanz later, Dum Dum was alive, but I had to meet with Patricia at least I think that's what happened, this was of course almost 3 years ago

See Judy vs. Maiko is a damned if you do or dont thing. if you side with Judy bad things happen, if you side with Maiko bad things happen and you lose Judy forever (unless you turn down Maikos money, thatll be your saving grace with her) also everytime I see Dum Dum and his (or any other maelstroms) implants the only thing that comes to mind is "God that has got to itch HORRIBLY!!!"

For the Judy vs. Maiko, if you kill the three dudes, then make Maiko aggro you, if you make sure she isn’t fully dead (non-lethal weapons/attacks), it’s the best option because Tom and Roxanne don’t die, and Judy is still happy (because Maiko didn’t die)

Yo! You can actually get the legendary sataraa without siding with maelstrom in all foods. There's a border detention center that you raid for a gig in the badlands, and behind a tech door in a server room there's a crafting spec for a legendary, or at least there can be. I'll shout this from the rooftops all I need to! I remember how gloom I was when I discovered I was stuck with a rare version of the single-most satisfying weapon in the game, and how overjoyed I was when I found the spec. Good luck!

The last choise was rather easiy for me on my first playthrough as I decided early on to to treat Johny as a psychopath. Even refused to play all sidequests associated with him, saving them for my next playthrough. Also, after getting turned down by panam I decided to pursue Judy instead and I never even met River 😅

Just a note - synthesis does not mean "a merge" it means "making of something artificially". In ME ending it was just a wrong use of a term due to lazy writers (or a hint that the ending does not merge organic life with synthetic, but rather kill off organic life and make them machines - basically what was the plan of the reapers all along).

I am looking forward to what the new ending granted by Phantom Liberty will be. When I played the game blind the first time, I got the Temperance ending. But, that was because I didn't understand I was making choices as Johnny after asking Rogue to help me take down Arasaka. Ultimately, my favorite is the Sun ending. Six more months with Kerry, as well as the possibility of a solution is the best choice in my opinion.

Hey, great content! Listen very closely to Viktor and Judy's credits scenes for the Aldecaldos ending. I think it is heavily implied that V managed to continue living.
