I’m a DIYer that does 1-2 projects a month at most, and I found that a lot of projects I need require a band saw. I kept my eye out for a used one but couldn’t find a decent deal and but the bullet on a brand new Ryobi. It’s not the best band saw but having a band saw has been an amazing addition to my collection.

I would love to have a bandsaw like that! I am currently restoring an old (scrapped) model, replacing bearings on the wheels as well as dried up rubbers and the drive belt. Will be interesting to see see how it performs once completed.

I haven’t used my old 80’s model Craftsman 12 inch band saw and decided to make a set of Adirondack chairs for my son. I gave my saw a good checkout, luckily I saved the owners manual. The wheel tires were original so I purchased 2 new neoprene tires and won the stretch battle installing them. I went step by step on the setup and happily the saw works like if did in the 80’s. Thanks for the video and inspiring uses.

There was a KZbin video on how to make a chair out of a single 2X6 that was 8 feet long. Some of the pieces required you to cut the board in half or 3/4 by 3 inches tall. I found out real quick that it was too dangerous to cut on a table saw and would be a perfect job for a bandsaw. I just ordered one saw will have one in my shop in the next week or two.

bandsaw is my next investment i think. i realised this after trying to cut some notches into wood and not being able to get them 90degrees no matter how i tried. i also want one with a decent (6"+ height of cut which bumps up the price but if you are going to get one you may as well get one that can repurpose wood like you do. i get a lot of bits of wood too that nothing else can really work with.

I gritted my teeth so hard when he introduced resawing at 2:28, and the captions called it "Resoling a Riesling[...]". and several references later to resawing saw funny things like "Reese all", "Every stalling", and "wrestling". This video is basically a recap/refresher for most of a bandsaw class in a trade school, and then some. A fantastic video with great ideas. A few cuts would have had one of my teachers dock a few points when the hands were needlessly close to the blade. It was a great, clean, video to watch. Only thing I can remember from school that would add to this are bandsaw boxes.

👍👍 great information. Thank you for posting this. I think peoples biggest failure when it comes to band saws is, it is a finesse machine - not a freaking chain saw. Use them wisely & not beyond their capabilities & you will be pleasantly surprised ☺️

My main use is doing angle cuts so that of a mitre saw, and 2nd use is re sawing instead of table saw, so it does both things that i need in a single machine saving me the cost of 2, I was on a budget so band saw was the perfect answer

Great video. If you have an accurate bandsaw you can actually use it for general rip cuts. I am a cabinet maker and I use my bandsaw for cutting the vast majority of my hardwood stock. I throw my stuff through a drum sander or a helical head planer after sawing, so the bandsaw is a fantastic tool for ripping. I have a Laguna 14/12

My bandsaw I’m getting on Tuesday only has an 80mm depth, and I'll have to carry on re-sawing larger pieces on my table-saw. I have a feeling the bandsaw will still be the most used bench tool in my shop after my disc and belt sander.
