I would agree but there are some countries where things just aren't readily available and people have to be very resourceful.

Some people enjoy building stuff. My great grandfather worked as a maintenance man at a hosiery mill. He had a shop full of wood working tools that he had made from stuff that was being thrown out. Like, a belt sander made from cast iron sewing machine legs from probably the 30s or 40s.. We still have them. They are like family heirlooms. 😊

for the cost of the plummer blocks, the gas struts and the drill chuck you could buy a small half decent bench drill that is safer to use and far more rigid, ROFL!! although you gotta give him kudos for his 'scratchit and bodger' designing lol! brazed carbide tooling on aluminium using a low powered machine?................watch the spindle speed indicator............. chattering so much during a 'cut' that the compound slide moves on its own?.............. my heart bleeds for that poor lil lathe! ROFL!

Certainly one can make better use of their time making something that is NOT already easy and inexpensive to obtain. It is sad how ludicrous KZbin has become littered with persons spending hours upon hours repurposing items into items already perfected over the past 2 or three centuries!

It's an air pump,, AKA air compressor. You could have scrolled to the end to see it. It's actually better to just buy one from the factory. He's just showing what you can do I guess
