It was surreal and awesome to run into you in the Marienplatz last Sunday as we literally just arrived from the airport. We did make it to the tail end of the Krampuslauf that afternoon and it was amazing, fun and unique. We're heading down to the Tegernsee markets tomorrow. I would have not even thought about checking if Tegernsee had Christmas markets if not for your summer-hike videos on the region. @@NearFromHome It was a wonderful little local market right in front of the Schloss in Tegernsee. The huge fire pits were awesome and very popular on this very cold day. I highly recommend the stand selling "Heiss Likore"! Didn't get to the other two markets in the neighboring towns... next time!

We were in Munich for opening day 2023 and stayed until Wednesday. Loved it! I just saw that everything is closed down right now!! Huge storm! Stay safe!! 💞 The Chinese tower market was not open… we walked all the way through the English Gardens twice and it was closed both times. All the little houses were up but nobody manning them. Granted, it was raining and sleeting, but MarienPlatz and Tollwood were both open. We couldn’t figure out how to get the public transport out to the Chinese tower. We thought there would be a bus, but we couldn’t figure it out. We’re pretty good with The trains. We LOVED the medieval market!! So fun!!! We brought home the mug!!! Love Münich so much… we’d live there if we could. Great city!!

We absolutely loved this! Will be watching this again and taking notes as we’re coming to Munich in about 2 weeks!!! We can’t wait! Plan is Munich markets, a train to Salzburg to check out those and then back to Munich to fly home. If you’re around and want to grab a beer, that would be amazing! @@NearFromHome I skipped over Munich and went straight to Garmisch for skiing last year. How is Germany for mask and 3G rules these days? When I left in April they were easing up on masks and if you at least tried to pull up the QR code on covpass people would wave you along.

Yeeeees! I was so waiting for a video like these from y’all! We’ll be in Munich in a week for Xmas markets and this is so helpful! You two really helped us planned our week there. We’re skipping the castle to do Zugspitze instead, and we’re spending 2 nights in Rothenburg also. Now you have 2 days to make a video of classic-must restaurants and we’ll be all set! 😂 Most recommendations for eating we find are nice lovely outdoor places, which I don’t think will be great in December 🥶 Keep up the amazing work!

Krampus parade in Munich this year is on Sunday, 11 Dec 2022. There are also hundreds of Krampus parade / Perchtenlauf all over Austria (and South Tyrol in Italy) from November till around 8 Dec, the most brutal one being Tischziachn in East Tirol.

Munich resident here with a few addl tips (based on historical info, pre "c" and i hope the same now that markets are back): 1. Muenchner Freiheit/ Schwabing market is full of artisan stands and has a good Raclette stand (not found at every market). 2. Pink Christmas in Glockenbachviertel (very close to Sendlinger Tor) is tiny but a great place for adults to enjoy a drink and some live shows (fab drag Queens etc) in the evening (in Munich's LGBTQ friendly neighborhood, my fab "hood" :-) 3. In the courtyard of the Rathaus (city hall) are a handful of artisan stands with hand-blown & painted ornaments & more (i too love the Medieval market:-) Merry Christmas! #erinperrysings

@@luciamontilla6198 you are right, dec 24, 25 & 26 almost everything is closed (especially in Bavaria). It's grand prior to that - plenty to do with lots of events & Christmas markets, plus the usual lovely sites. If you ski, I suggest checking out the possibility of a ski trip those dates OR rent an apt/air b&b in a town (or hotel with restaurant) in the alpine foothills so you can enjoy nature/hikes. Family members have done that, opting for places such as Garmisch and been happy forvthev3 chill days. Enjoy!!!

It really depends. Last year that time it was freezing with frozen ice all over the ground. The rest of December was mild. I would definitely bring a coat and warm shoes. It can be anywhere from 30-50 degrees F.

Can you imagine leaving central Munich and taking the train to the airport just for their market instead? What would the Bavarians think. @@NearFromHome I live in Ismaning located in north of munich at the same S-Bahn as the airport is. So for me and my friends its almost common to go there and not as far away as the stachus ice-skate. YES they also have one of these at the AIRPORT :D

my favourite Christmas market is actually the glühnix, the student Christmas market. though I do understand that especially for non students it would be strange to drive to a university campus and go to the market there. the prices are amazing though
