Bought this bike for my son as a starter bike, and i was surprised how nice it is to ride, he found it was pretty fast until he tried my GSXS1000 now he knows what fast is, but as his first bike it is just the right amount of power to keep him out of trouble and learn to handle a bike before upgrading to more hp

My mods are, full two bros carbon fiber exhaust, two brows fuel controller, K&N high flow air filter, air box mod, FZ1 handlebar, tst industries frame sliders, progrip tank protector, XJ6 tank grips, EK gold chain, vortex sprockets, DMP rear fender eliminator, DMP rear led turn signals, DMP flush mount turn signals, ZX6R mirrors and I run a 180 width rear tire. 🤗 I ❤ my FZ6R.

I have the 09 FZ6R, and I love the bike. Rode to Maine, Georgia, North Carolina, and was comfortable even after 12 hours in the saddle. Stock the bike does 130mph. Simple mods can make this bike even faster. Simple 4 degree advanced timing and an ecu flash and tune and you can run with some of the sports bike. It can be a daily commuter, track, or street bike and it is comfortable. The only caveat is that the stock exhaust is quieter than a mouse fart.

I got one of these about 3 months ago. Full racing exhaust and power commander fitted. 30K kilomteres on the clock. What a frikken amazing bike. I was going to buy ninja400 then rode one of these. I also ride Honda CB400. There's just something about small/mid displacement 4 cyclinders. The FZ6R is super comfy - I've done 800km rides in a day and felt pretty good at end of it. I now tell all my learner rider buddies .... get a FZ6R or XJ6, There's endless smiles and satisfaction to be had. Mate has 2011 model and he's put 227,000kms ... and apart from basic maintenance (oil change, air filter) the bike still sings and has been faultless.

Do you happen to know of any resources that document that hardware differences between the R6 and this motor (this bike uses the 2003 r6 motor but it’s “retuned” for torque and revs lower etc) but usually that includes a fair number of hardware changes. If not it means you can unlock a crap ton of power from this with just a tune (50hp or so) so I’m very curious to clarify what the material differences are

To quote what he said..."And a great bike I also have one here in Brazil. It’s called XJ6F great cost benefit not to mention that it’s derived from the R6 this engine". He is absolutely correct. Maybe so, but PetroCan puts ethanol in their fuels, unlike Shell. The higher octane you go, the less alcohol percentage. I have the power commander V as well, that is dyno'd and tuned by Hindle. And to be honest I don't mind paying a few more bucks.

Here in North America these bikes do not have abs brakes. Over in Europe it is marketed as an XJ6 and yes I believe they do have ABS. Is it a good starter bike? I would have to say yes. I started on this bike and still have it 6 years later. Very linear power ban and not so much HP that it's gona throw you off. The bike is heavy tho at 467 lbs. The fz6 was a great bike.. the fz6r is unbearibly slow. I wouldn’t own one..
@RideThe64 жыл бұрын
It's not a super sport, but people have been doing the gearing change to improve the acceleration. I don't find it slow by any means, but then again I have the power commander and full exhaust. And I've had it over 200km/hr so it ain't that slow. If anything I find it heavy.
@doylee4694 жыл бұрын
RideThe6 I think by slow I mean acceleration is bad. It’s all relative tho. In the us we enjoy red light racing when the opportunity shows it’s face. When that happens I like to know Im gonna win, lol. Still a nice reliable bike, it’s just that a ninja 650 is about just as fast as this thing and it’s a parellel twin.. anyway, enjoy man!
@RideThe64 жыл бұрын
@@doylee469 Ya the acceleration isn't the best cuz you gota switch to 2nd gear before you even get thru the intersection. I've ridden the ninja 650 too and it really drops off on the high end where the inline 4 just continues to pull. Cheers. Thanks for the comments.
