To have some relaxing exercise, could I use that machine? I know it doesn’t replace your glutton exercises but I just wondered if this machine will help or hurt my knees.

I'm definitely in stage 4 with no cartilage left, so they tell me. Been getting the shots for about 3 years, but recently, and suddenly, the knee pain had gone parabolic. My ortho has told me I need the replacement, but for some reason, something is telling me not to do it. Thank goodness I found your videos. I've been doing the exercises for less than a week and taking the glucosamine/chondroitin supplements. Lo and behold, I can put the cane down around the house and for short walks with the dog, PAIN FREE! I plan to stick with these and will go on to review your other recommendations about diet and supplements. I am amazed and very grateful.

Yes, you do feel so much less knee paing. I live in NYC, a walking town and turning my feet out 45 degrees in walking and going up and down stairs has made a BIG difference. Before doing these exercises, I used to brace myself for the pain that came with going from sit to stand, not to mention a flight of stairs would make me want to cry. Add the glute squeezes and other exercises Dr. David teaches has made me not afraid to do stairs, walk etc. All the best to you!

Hi, I starred doing these exercises yesterday evening and feel improvement already, just finished doing them this morning. I'm 78 years old and have had osteoarthritis for some years, don't want a knee replacement. Two weeks ago, I began experiencing extreme pain in my right shin and knee, so much so that I can't walk very far. Am doing these standing glute exercises ; should I do them twice a day? Thank you so much for all you give us. For years I've been doing 10 minute Qi Gong exercises with Jeff Chand online & 15 minute low impact walking exercises with Fabulous 50s online. I haven't been walking a lot in the last few years cause I suffer from IBS. I suspect that my knee problem has been exacerbated by too much sitting. Thanks again, you're a great teacher!

I hope I can truly get my glutes activated properly and get back the strength they need to get my knee in the right position.

65 year old male, right knee smashed in industrial accident 40 years ago. Surgery and 18 months physiotherapy restored "normal" knee action but started to deteriorate about 5 years ago. I've followed a number of your videos over recent weeks but never seemed to achieve more than temporary relief. After just s single session of these "glute" exercises, i woke up this morning with slight stiffness but didn't feel the need to take pain killers. The "heat" that has been constantly present in the knee for years has disappeared. Still a bit stiff on the stairs (there's 9 levels at my present work site...no lifts) At last i can see an end to the misery I've been suffering recently without worrying about knee replacement! Keep up the good work 👍

UPDATE: I was really hyped with the early results, but looking back, I believe the rapid improvement was due to having already been following some of the other videos over the month prior... climbing stairs etc. A couple of weeks after my original post,I had a really bad day at work and ended up going back to my earlier condition. These exercises are really good but definitely need some dedication to make them work.

The first surgeon, found two meniscus tears, one a root tear, he did an arthroscope, he said one knee needed a full replacement, the second a half knee replacement. I went to another surgeon who is well know as an excellent knee surgeon, he said no that’s not needed, he did a lot of tests. He said a lot of my pain was coming from a very bad back injury I had years ago. He was right, I still have sore knees and nerve pain in both legs, I’m on meds. I’m now starting these exercise. I am SURE these videos will absolutely help! 17 yrs ago when my knees really started giving me problems (pain, inflammation, etc.) the doc I went to sent me to physical therapy and I swear it made things worse! So I stopped exercising completely to avoid the pain. Then I bought a mobility scooter for places where a lot of walking was involved. I bookmarked this video to start tomorrow AM in earnest! I watched a couple of your other videos too and started on the Spring Valley tumeric-curcumin-ginger caps last week. I told my doc today that I must avoid knee replacement surgery AT ALL COSTS due to my sub-zero pain tolerance. Knee surgery would put me in a wheelchair instead of keeping me out of one! 🤔🙄😬

I have been doing these standing glute exercises for 3 days and am happy to report I definitely had less knee aches last night. I tried the glute exercises on the floor, but my knee was too irritated. I am a 74 year old women who completed a dozen triathlons in my sixties and have done 5000 km of bicycles tours in Europe over 5 years since then, so it is logical that my quads are stronger than my glutes. I have also been drinking extra water with electrolytes, (pink Him. salt & ReMag magnesium) and massaging with my stick roller which feels so good. I'm taking MSM daily and practicing walking per your video. I also use my infrared panel on my knee daily while I mediate listening to healing frequencies, (432 & 528 Hz), on KZbin. I still rest with an ice pack several times a day, but I am so encouraged. Thank you Dr. David for helping me avoid the western medical treadmill of MRI radiation exposure, surgery, and incorrect physical therapy with quad strengthening.

I have been doing these standing glute exercises for 5 days. Yesterday I received the Shock Doctor brace you recommended in your video “Choosing the Best Knee Brace...”. (I needed to get a brace one size bigger than the sizing chart.) I also do the Tailgate Swing and your tibia mis-alignment press and sideways toe slides. I can now walk across the living room with my knee pain-free if I go slow and consciously fire my glutes. Then my bad knee gets tired and sore, so I rest or apply ice. I’m glad you empathized firing your glutes at 50% to minimize engagement of the quads which is what I think I’m doing. I now do 5 reps and stop when my knee hurts, but return again and again to these exercises. My goal is to do two complete sets throughout the day. Now I know why it hurts my sore right knee to drive; because my quad is engaging to press the accelerator. My knee continues to be pain-free at night unless I get in an awkward position. I am definitely experiencing less pain because of your videos. Thank you so very much.

I have been doing these exercises in a modified way for 7 days. I think I have very dominate quads compared to my glutes. I have made the following modifications to these exercises: Instead of the Standing Glute Squeezes, I do them sitting in a chair. I only do the Standing Glue Burners with my bad leg because my quads fire if I stand only on the bad leg.I don't do the Standing Baby Squats because my quads fire, but I can do the Standing Baby Squat Reps. I do not do the lunge exercises because my quads fire. As I get my glutes stronger, I will go back to these exercises as you describe. Thank you for your encouragement.

After 2 years not exercising I went to gym and my knee started just like 2 years ago. It seems like knee does not like to be bother and leave alone? But I'm gaining w. because of not exercising. Don't like swimming and love walking but I can't do it that much, my physical therapist told me to do cycling ? When I listen to you, you said Not to do it and think you're right because I need strengthening my glute and not ... bottom line what do I do for exercise? I listen to you because I think you're exactly referring to some of my problem in my glut ( have so much pain in that area). Thank you so much for such a big service to humanity; you're the best.😊

Dear dr. David thank you for finally be someone talking about this common error in resolving knee problem. I am a proof of your principle that the knee problem is only gonna get worse engaging and strenghten up the quads. That, unfortunately to train anterior quads is something that every therapist reccomended me to do so far. With terrible results! By chance, while I was trying a movement with other purposes, I accidentaly activated my glutes and posterior muscles, also abductors a little; I was shocked the days after because my knee pain almost disappeared. So that's the way I accidentaly discovered that my knee is in pain when I have a weak glute, the unbalanced situtation you are talking about. Really thanks for explaining this to everyone, and to confirm what I figured out accidentaly.

Hi Dr David I just came across your channel and love this excercise! Do you have any videos for sciatic nerve pain? I had a bad flare up for the first time last year which left me in pain and I could not walk for about 3 months. I had this flared up again at the end of May and it was the same it had me confined in my room could not walk for about 6 weeks. That pain was the worst I ever felt in my life. I know what pain is like I had 4 children all natural home births no medication whatsoever.I also has planters fashiitis! If there is any kind of excercise I can do to help this without meds or injections, I would be so grateful to learn it, so I never get this again. I had Chiro and accupuncture already it did not help! Thank you in advance for any advise!

I'm not a doctor but have been suffering from 3 bad disk and horrible sciatica. I have tried every stretch known to man to no avail. I have found great relief by tightening the glutes while on my stomach while pushing my pelvis/stomach into the bed. Of course its not in any p.t. exercises I've seen or used in the past but it works for me. Let me know if it helps you. You should be careful as I don't know your history or severity of your condition ie..surgery? Anyway I'm not a doctor so please use this with caution and with your doctor's consent. I've suffered with back issues for 25 years severe harsh pain killers for 14 of those years so I know the struggle.
