A proud owner of the freestyle - Trend+ variant Petrol , bought in Jan 2020... till far driven 5000+ KM. Its my first car. For first time buyers just go it(ford).. it safe for you and your family.. don't go by those cosmetics stuff what you get in others... think of your family and your safety. Simple superb and outstanding car. Mind blowing handling and steering control/response is awesome. Giving the city mileage of 12.5 kmpl and highway 16.5 kmpl approx. And no comparison with rest others in build quality .. its top quality. Well .... the engine has to be little more refined , I guess. no regrets .. Awesome car....... just go for it.

I own a Diesel, gives me 23 mileage on highway and 21 mixed use. In love with the car. Use it even when not needed just for the fun of driving. Accelerator not needed, just release the clutch, the way it surges, the engine grunt, no car in 15 lakh range can match. Buy it blindly even if Ford leaves India, service will be there. The thud sound you mentioned Ashish, I can feel that in my Ford Ecosport. Ford offers really value for money cars but unfortunately Indian buyers prefer gadgets on wheels rather than the core of any driving machine which is Engine, build quality and driving dynamics.

@@shahinshais1253 Although Ford left India, I am having a great experience with the service. They keep calling in between to ask if everything is running fine at my end. Service cost is very affordable as they promised earlier and that continues. Parts and spares seem like not a problem at the moment and I think should be available in coming days as well as there are lot of people owning Ford cars. And even if you get one in second hand and well maintained, you won't be disappointed.

I own the 2020 titanium plus petrol variant of this model. Have completed 60000 km just today on this car. I go on a lot of long drives on this car and let me tell you thats it is extremely solid. The braking and the handling is the best. Torque is awesome. While going uphill from my parking which is a good level of incline where you will surely fall down if you try to walk downhill, this car rolls itself up smoothly just by releasing the clutch in the first gear, i dont even press the accelerator. Even my 2016 i20 magna diesel failed to do this. The comfort is good enough. My variant has adjustable headrest in the back. Though there is one problem, the company fitted headlamps were not bright at all during the night highway rides, and the horn breaks down a lot (Maybe a wiring issue).There is a white bottom cladding in the back, and the left portion will surely fall off someday, Most of the freestyle that i have seen on the road has this same problem. Overall its a chumma car. and yeah you also get the option to manually turn of Traction Control System, which is awesome. Had to use it a few times when my car got stuck into muddy roads.

Only reason for this to be underrated is Ford itself.. no facelift no generation update unavailability of automatic gearbox projector headlamps and some design elements... Ford should seriously think about these cars figo freestyle and aspire... They have the qualities and can rule the market if properly updated...

Agree with you fully on Freestyle. I call Freestyle 1.5 diesal as a pocket rocket a mini Ecosport. Except for a small boot space, its truly a fantastic fun to drive car with good responsive engine & efficiency. You said it right its interior especially the instrument cluster with small MID compared to the competition is a letdown for newer buyers. Otherwise I think it's much better than Swift & Baleno in the Premium hatch segment.

I loved this car when I drove it and it still has a soft spot inside me. The Diesel variant particularly is just absolutely phenomenal. However, some noticeable problems has caused this car spiral down the market. This car seriously needs a generation change now. This car doesn't have projector headlights. I would not had bothered about it, if the visibility of the stock headlights was good. Ford advertises automatic headlights for this car so much, but what is the point if the visibility is bad ? It just doesn't add to the driving experience. Secondly, the absence of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is a glaring omission in 2021, considering that it used to get those features in the BS4 era. The cheapest cars in the market like S-Presso and Kwid have been offering those features, so I cannot see why Ford cannot. Some little niggles like strictly limited boot space and the fuel hungry petrol engine without any turbo (makes the Polo TSI a lot more desirable) doesn't help either. The future of diesel engines in small cars is highly uncertain, so I cannot think why Ford is doing nothing about it. It's a shame because it's a great car otherwise. But because of these issues, I would consider the Volkswagen Polo over the Figo easily for now atleast. If this car isn't selling, it's less of customer's fault and more of Ford's fault themselves.

@@siddharthnautiyal5188 I agree with the lighting problem but osram bulbs 1700 rupees can increase the intensity of the light easily.. apart from that everything in a freestyle diesel is just spotless. Best in class ride, handling, performance plus efficiency and safety also best in the market after sales. What more do you want, yes, average Indian buyer wants snob value and resale value for which I don't judge him, so that's the reason this car performed poorly on sales. If this car had a Suzuki emblem it'd be selling like hot cakes but it won't be having 6 airbags obvio.

@@dakshmuktanjay3204 The Figo/Freestyle/Aspire are still 3 of my favourite cars and they still have a HUGE potential in the Indian market. In case I intend to buy a Diesel, one of them would be my pick without any other options. In case of petrol cars however, Polo would be my pick because the TSI engine offered in it has amazing performance because of the turbo and a proper 6 speed manual. I'm not taking anything away from Ford cars. I love them too. But I really feel that they need some updates to increase their sales figures. These days, where LED DRLs are becoming normal, they are not even giving projectors and for some reason, they decided to take away the buttery smooth SYNC3 system and replace with an ordinary infotainment and they buffed up the prices of their cars. That is something that Ford should look into, because they have all the tools to make these three fantastic, whether it's after sales service or the build and ride quality.

Regarding LEDs, I think you can make the exterior changes to a car, u can get LEDs installed too but yea sync 3 should not have been removed but bs6 diesel would have pushed the car's ex showroom to 10+ so ford decided to take that off instead of the tcs or ARP or hla which I guess is a good move coz enthusiasts are always concerned about driving but yea as a family vehicle it sucks. But, vw service costs are just outrageous, a friend of mine got his 4th service of polo petrol in 23k lulz

I personally feel that Ford should give these parts (brighter bulbs/projectors/SYNC3 etc.) as optional accessories atleast, to the customers. That way they can keep the prices down and they can also keep the new buyers satisfied. As for VW, they certainly need to improve on after sales, not denying that. It's great to still see some cars that appeal to the enthusiast though.

I live in tier 3 city, Indore and Bhopal are the tier 2 cities located nearby, I don't think I'll find any serious service as there are thousands of Ford vehicle roaming around in my state, the service center will continue to be profitable business for the dealers. I bought my vehicle with the intent to keep it for minimum 5 years so for me I don't think there is gonna be service issue, there are still Chevroelt, Fiat vehicles roaming around and being serviced. So its not gonna be a big issue as what I believe, rest I'm enjoying the vehicle... I hope I answered your doubts

Freestly is a great car in terms of responsiveness and a blessing if you are learning to drive. You just need to touch the accelerator to go at the road legal speed (the pick-up speed for each gear is fast, i.e., with very little pressure you can drive at a high speed). Also, it's very comfortable to drive and the AC is great too along with the sound system. expecting the leg space of a Q7 in this car is hilarious as you need a greater budget😂.

The head lights power is same for all cars, if you focus both beam towards converge, it will solve your lighting issue, if check with Skoda or vw, even they complain the headlight power issue. As Ashish said, the only negative is black dull interior and dashboard design are looking bit outdated, apart from this is an absolute engineering product, we as an Indian failed to recognize it.

Here are my takeaways after owning freestyle for 2 years : 1. I own a petrol freestyle and it is not as refined as per the competition Pros, 1. Fantastic handling 2. Superb steering 3. Good road presence 4. Feels rugged compared to tin cans Cons : 1. Petrol engine is refined to an extent and feels underpowered at times 2. Rattling sound from all around the cabin and car is not aged good this shows the panels are not put together well 3. Not so efficient, I know I can't complain or have safety and efficiency at the same time when it comes to petrol but definitely could have better 4. I have driven few freestyles and the steering is not straight it pulls towards left this is a production flaw (evident in many cars on road) 5. Wheel well does not accomodate main tyre ( if your alloy is punctured and changed your spare tyre of smaller size. Now the bigger tyre does not fit into the wheel well and it is huge mess) 6. Paint quality is very so so not very apt as per the industry standards 7. Very basic instrument cluster , not so nice touchscreen system though it is seamless the speaker quality and navigation is just showing it's presence and Is of no use 8 . Mirrors are too small Awesome customer support kuddos to ford Summary : if you are more of a highway and city person please choose diesel which actually defines what freestyle is. Diesel is a beauty but not for city usage. Hope this helps

@@sivaramakrishna5867 true but it has safety features like ARP, hill hold assist, functional roof rails , traction control that competition doesn't have. We can still live without fancy gismos isn't it

@@amangulia4916 if your daily usage is not high in city then please go for it. If you are buying it purely for city usage then its a NO because it has very hard clutch and will definitely become painful decision. hope that helps 😊

Sir my running is very less so I will go for Petrol but on the other side I like to drive in hilly areas as well whenever I m home…so what u suggest a Diesel engine will suffice if car doesn’t run say for 4-5 months as I will remain out at sea.

Polo is a petrol rocket while freestyle is a diesel rocket. I own a freestyle titanium plus diesel with 6 airbags and all sorts of safety features including hill hold control, roll over protection, traction control , ESP etc etc.and it costs only 10 lacs on road in Kerala.

If you don’t care about the resale value and a little extra servicing cost in the future you should be fine.

Otherwise there are other alternatives like Tata Tiago NRG, Suzuki Ignis, Honda WRV(a little expensive), or the lower variants of the compact SUV segment.

This car is good, but doesn't have any AT variant. Ford has lost out on a big market share due to absence of AT, and more variants for different kinds of buyers

black day for automobile industry.i own ecosport and figo 2nd gen both diesel. these cars have tank lile build quality and service cost is 10-15% more than maruti and hyundai. those who have driven ford cars they the quality but sadly our indian mentality "Show Off" they dont go for built quality and good product
