I been in Florida for many years. Merritt Island from the air is beautiful. It has potential. But 520 and Courtney are an eyesore. The traffic is crowded. The shopping experience is second rate. The mall is sad. It reminds me of the old Miracle Mall in Titusville. The Miracle Mall was called that because it stood empty for years. Any shopping is either Viera or Orlando. I see many cars on the road all day long . I wonder where they are going ? It really has a minimum of things to do. I wonder what all those people in the condos do ? maybe drink their days away.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! As a Merritt Island resident, I agree it has its quirks, but I love living here and find plenty to do. While 520 and Courtney might not be perfect, they add to the area’s character, and the beach proximity is unbeatable at this price. Traffic to me is normal, and though shopping isn't as extensive as Viera or Orlando, there are still plenty of essentials and hidden gems. Plus, there’s always something to do, from kayaking to local events close by. Merritt Island offers a laid-back lifestyle that I truly enjoy.
