It’s an instrument that lends itself well to beginners but at the same time has a range that allows you to cover all kinds of music genres. My oldest sister learned the trumpet my other older sister learned Violin and Piano that obviously costed a bunch but I settled for the kalimba they aren't that expensive so I bought it myself, they all sound so pretty, and they look so pretty I got an acrylic Kalimba in a bear shape and I literally play it everyday I will continue to follow your tips

Thank you for the prayer, God is so good. I am so glad He brought me to kalimba. I have difficulty playing guitar since I broke a finger on my right hand as I mostly finger picked and combined strumming. Now I just sit and enjoy making music again. Praise God! I honestly learned about the kalimba through you. One of my two presents I got was a kalimba, and I'm so happy. I've been practicing every night after I tuned it. And just like you I was to scared to actually hammer it hard so I hammered gently, took me two hours but its tuned. I'm so much more comfortable around it now too with all the practicing.

I own a beautiful kalimba from Bondi Kalimbas, it has abalone inset around the sound hole. It shines in blue and green but not red. The tip about kalimba tuning is very useful, I will not be afraid of hitting a little harder when I tune my kalimba in future

Olá😁🙏🏼 Irei comentar através da pouca experiência que aprendi em duas semanas treinando, mas antes, encontrei uma kalimba da Dexinor de 24 chaves, as kalimbas deles são cromáticas. Em poucas semanas constatei que as correntes normalmente não são de boa qualidade, elas escurecem rapidamente, irei comprar uma pequena corrente de aço inoxidável e adaptá-la a kalimba para que a antiga não afete as chaves. As kalimbas ocas em afinação mais grave como "A" possuem um volume fenomenal, grande precisam de afinação e chaves agudas com som limpo. As kalimbas sólidas são mais consistentes no som, parece-me que irá durar por mais tempo, possuem um volume muitíssimo mais baixo que as ocas. As kalimbas ocas afinadas em "C" quase certeza ter problema na chave mais aguda "E", o que faz perder o brilho do instrumento no geral. A afinação B e A ficam muito agradáveis aos meus ouvidos. Infelizmente mesmo fazendo o processo de ajustes da Kalimba, a chave mais aguda não demonstra ressonância adequada, tendo que adaptar os arranjos para que a tecla mais aguda tenha uma função apenas passageira na melodia. Sim, eu alterei as afinações no mesmo dia em que a recebi, com cuidados para não machucar a madeira, tocar violão ajuda-me com isso e realmente é preciso um pouco de força para mover as teclas na afinação. Experimentei gravar "Noite Feliz" no Natal e a qualidade de som ficou surpreendente, a kalimba é um instrumento ótimo para fazer filmagens simples. Sigo escutando vários kalimbeiros para acostumar meus ouvidos as mais diversas combinações de som e criando meus próprios arranjos, é um instrumento que inspira criatividade e liberdade, desde que com um conhecimento básico musical. Seria interessante aulas com treinos específicos para a mobilidade do polegar esquerdo, principalmente e possíveis técnicas diferentes utilizadas. A cada dia o som da kalimba apaixona-me mais 😍. Deus abençoe.

I found a wooden,hollow with the hammer, booklet, stickers and padded case all for $10.00. I think the engraving around the hole reads " helism, kalimba" is this a good one? I have never heard of this instrument and I'm going to buy it. Also....I have long nails....should I file them down?

Oh it's fine. Many started with an Acrylic and the absolutely love it. You chose it because it's what you want. And that's what really matters in my opinion. 🥰❤️
