My band members include an elite level racing cyclist, a sculptor, a historian specialising in WWI, a retired chef and of course musicians. Five years ago we were in negotiations to buy a 14 bed hotel close to my holiday home in Norther France. We planned to run cycling tours, battlefield tours, sculpture, art, cookery and music workshops. Using the hotel as a base to enable those business activities, and the activities to fill the hotel. Sadly a survey found defects which ruled it out. Currently we are looking at a cottage in the South of Ireland with barns, a swimming/boating lake and 4 acres of land, with a view to installing a handful of camping pods and running workshops in the barns and outbuildings. None of these projects look to make a fortune, just enable early semi-retirement based around things and people we enjoy.

The event idea will blow up if it’s in the right location. I inherited some acres on the outskirts in the Bay Area and started renting it out for wedding/birthdays and started making a fortune quick. Just keep on grinding brother, great channel, greetings from Serbia! I am considering starting a glamping business in my region, it would be completely new thing here, as we even do not have a lot of camping sites in the country. But anyway, I think it’s a rising trend and it will come here eventually as well. What would be your recommendation, to focus on a single a-frame house business or to make plans from the beginning to have more houses at the spot? Do people like more to have privacy or they would not mind to be surrounded by more other guests (to share the fireplace for the grill between houses for example)?
@KeepItTiny2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support all the way from Serbia! I think you are being very smart by getting into the game so early and bringing glamping there. I would focus on your first project, you will learn so much from it and be able to grow smarter from there. That being said, while you plan everything out be sure to leave space for you to grow and have more things going on in the future. The people that stay at my glampsite don't care for complete privacy and don't mind seeing others. In the future I want to have shared amenities for people to use on my land like a shared sauna or something. I think you are thinking about this the right way! Good luck to you on your future project!

If anyone owns a campsite/ RV park/ tiny house community with a site you'd like to rent by the month for a short-term glamping trial, I'm interested! This would be a great way for you to get a proof of concept to find out if glamping could work for your business without you having to invest any of your own money or time to test it. I’d be taking on all of that risk, while you'd get to sit back and collect your usual monthly rental income. Even if I don’t get the site booked every night, you'd still get the monthly rent payment from me with a proof of concept cherry on top!

You rated buying a house with huge land to build glamping sites on your multi-acre property as a 4/10 on the cool scale. Can you explain why this is such a low number compared to buying vacant land and building a glamping site on that?
@KeepItTiny2 жыл бұрын
because buying a house with a lot of land on it is a pretty normal process. Not saying its easy but people do it all the time. Buying raw land and building it up from scratch is harder and cooler in my opinion.
