I can't believe I tortured my body with sugar and carbs for so long! Thank you for helping me to understand how to nourish my body correctly!

Truly great tips. I'll add, when your sugars are high (A1C), you are tired because the sticky sugar sticks to the iron in the red blood cell and starves it of oxygen. They cannot be repaired, but fortunately they do regenerate every 90days. That's why when you kick sugar to the curb, over time, you will have more energy.

You must check blood at home more often than once a year at the doctors. 5.4 is better but keep going. Personally, I would do Keto instead. I don't think Carnivore is sustainable long term. Maybe for 6 months to balance out your metabolism sure. It is also deficient on certain vitamins and minerals like Vit. C, Folate, Fiber, D, Calcium, E, FUFA/ALA, etc.

@@MOAB-UT my doctor checks my bloodwork every 90 days. I must stop you however with the adage “You can’t do carnivore long term” when you delve into the study of vegetables and fruits you realize we ate solely meat for a million years and just about all vegetables and fruits contain toxins to ward off predators. Additionally, all have been genetically modified for year round consumption, have depleted our soils and contain anti nutrients so your not getting any benefit. I would argue they do more harm than good. All my blood markers are great and very few doctors will ever get to the root causes of your autoimmune problems they prefer to prescribe meds to perpetuate your condition as you never get cured only managed. Meat has the most dense nutrients not found in any plant. Why would I not be carnivore long term. No more weight problem, autoimmune diseases, unbounded energy, no brain fog. Yeah, I’m on the right path thanks 🙏👍😎❤️

Dr Boz, I have a question: How about people who live in extreme northern or southern climates? The days are much longer, or shorter, depending on the season! When I lived in Frankfurt Germany as an Army brat, in the peak winter months, it was dark at 7 am, when the bus picked us up for school, and dark again at 3:30 pm, when we went home. Inversely, the sun didn’t set until nearly 10 pm and rose at 4 am in the summer. As a recovering diabetic, I like your content, but this one hard fast rule simply does not add up for everyone. Keep up the great work! 😊

Always morning shifts. In the morning I alwasy do work out, a bit of yoga, cold shower and eating before I go at 5:30 to work. So this is my second day of keto diet. How soon can I start fasting, or does it matter if I start right in the first week or later ? I do not have any problem with fasting and with eat just twice a day, or even once. I eat ONLY meat, eggs and goat cheese . I did not started keto for loosing weight, I started because I want to eat and live healthy. So again, my question is when should I start fasting ? after a few weeks when I started keto ?

In my experience HFLC diet cause blood sugar not to rise too high compared to HCLF diet, however it stays a little higher up and for much longer time like 3 times as long. HCLF diet cause blood sugar to rise much higher but then drops down much faster and of course lower than HFLC diet. So I don't really know if they average out the same or not in that sense. The clear difference is you don't get as hungry on high fat diet compare to high carb diet. That much is certain. So you don't have a need to eat often, no craving for food. The main cause of high blood sugar is due to consumption of more food with high carb diet because you get hungry more often so you keep the blood sugar up by eating more often. And absolutely the worse thing is snacking. It is far worse than just consuming high carb foods because snacking just keeps the blood sugar up all the time basically. I have no trouble eating once a day on high fat high protein diet. And by the way I eat until I am stuffed big time. I mean I don't care how many calories. I just keep eating like it is nobody's business. For some reason, I have no desire for breakfast. I am just not hungry. I don't really crave lunch, I have no trouble skipping it. Then comes dinner time.. typically around 4 oclock. Feast time. It is just the way it is. My favorite is lots of meat in a crockpot ( chunks of lamb, beef, pork) and brussel sprouts, salt, pepper and garlic and no other oil whatsover. I let the thing go for 24 hours and oh my it is big time good. I lost 40 lbs in 4 months. Raised my LDL from 130 to 230. Raised HDL form 40 to 60 Dropped TG from 227 to 57. A1C basically remained unchanged. From 5.8 to 5.7 I guess you can't win em all. But I feel pretty dang good, for whatever that is worth. Walking around 40 lbs. lighter. Do I eat fruit once in a while? I absolutely do. Couple of oranges or bananas a week doesn't kill nobody. However I eat it once in one day a week a rule. Sometime cherries or whatever.

@DoctorBoz2 жыл бұрын
Well .. it’s “dirty” math. The units would wrinkle the hair of any math teacher … but it works. Glucose = mg/dL. Ketones = mmoles/L There’s a story behind how the DBR came to be. In short- the first brain-repair patients were too ill to do the conversations of the math. I simplified it & said … take the big number and divide by the little one! It cracks me up every time I recall the story … but it works.

HELP!! Dr Boz.. I really wish I could follow what you said because I need to stay alive to look after my ailing son who has MECP2 Duplicating syndrome and needs 24 hour care.... I am 65, type 2 diabetic, Sleep deprivation, sleep apnea, high stress, hypertension, sciatica, moderate lymphedema, total thyroidectomy, uncomplicated cholelithiasis, LVEF AT 49%, 70 pounds overweight (between 270 & 280 pounds for years). It's a nightmare... In 2023, I decided adding more greens and veggies, replaced white potatoes with sweet potatoes, using more herbs and spices, lots of garlic & cinnamon etc, moderate amounts fish (salmon) & chicken (no meat).. Also made green shakes with (whole lemon, different types of greens, lots of cinnamon, herbs, low carb low dairy powdered milk, almond essence & stevia).. Before I started that diet in 2023, my stomach fat was moderate with some overhang, but in the latter half of 2023, my stomach fat has gotten to the point where their is much more overhang all the way to my back ??😞.. Was feeling hopeless. My 3 month A1C's have been averaging between 5.6 (100 mg/dl) and 7.5 (136 mg/dl) for years.. However, after eating, it would sometimes spike between 15 (270 mg/dl) & 18 (696 mg/dl) before dropping. I was taking 80 units of insulin (Tresiba) for years daily. Stopped taking Metformin a few years ago after research.. Don't take my fast acting Humalog as I should very often because on many occasions it almost sent me into hypoglycaemia, scary.. 2 weeks ago I decided to try the carnivore diet, introducing it slowly.. I started with a semi keto diet but 80% carnivore with steaks & (sardines😊occasionally for breakfast), no veggies, less greens & a little fruit ( to keep my sugars from going too low) and had to reduce my insulin a little because morning sugars were now too low with the higher dose.. I lost 5 pounds and I noticed now, that my sugars don't spike as much and my daily grafts does not have as much high and low variations as before which is better but still not in the perfect range as yet.. This is my last resort to getting better health... Not working for years (looking after my family's health). Although stressful, I love looking after my son, he is my work. Unfortunately I lost my wife and daughter to cancer in 2017 so I am on my own with him. I would have liked to purchase some of your products but I can't afford them, because my son's medical cost are astronomical, although the Gov't does cover most of it, thank God. I subscribed a while back.. Any advice on improving my health on an extremely low budget would be gratefully welcome. Have yourself a wonderful and blessed day.☮

Also, I'm significantly underweight, and have no gallbladder. I'm not sure it will be possible to get in enough fat calories to gain weight while eating in this strict time frame. But I also have an A1c that just won't go down, even on carnivore. Furthermore, my BGs are mostly around 100, with occasional spikes to the 120s after Greek yogurt. But my A1c is 6.2. That's higher than when I ate over 300g of carbs a day! (A1c was 6.0 back then).

How about taking a month off from diet soda's and see what happens. My issue with diet soda's is that it was more addicting than sugar, but once I stopped artificial sugars the food craving went away and I now fast 18 hours everyday with little or no hunger pains. My Dr. Boz glucose/keto index averages around 20 in the morning hours. FWIW I'm 75 and was an obese full blown type II diabetic for 15 years, and A1c is now 5.3 and without any diabetic medications. I'm still taking a blood pressure medication (carvedilol) but dropped from 25 mg X2 per day to 6.5 X 2 and suspect that will soon be ending, especially if we get a government and medical system that recognize the Standard American Diet (SAD) is killing us .

@@johnclark5148 Are still on diabetic medications? I thought once you were on those meds, you were on them for life. I might be diabetic, I'm obese. I will see my dr eom and find out for sure. I would be so angry with myself if I am on lifelong medication.

How can fiber play into this? Why include this in the carb count when it has beneficial effects and doesn't raise BG?

I sometimes smoke cigars and noticed that it seems like nicotine raises my BG.
