Its actually a good thing these sequels don't exist. They just show more of Disney's desperation to cash in on previous successes by flaunting characters we know and love and expecting the audience to buy in on the poor story plots. But it seems Disney hasn't learned from their mistakes, as they're continuing this marketing sham with their "live action" remakes. Disney is corrupt and greedy, that's the bottom line of it. The sad thing is, people continue to feed into the corrupt and greedy company...

But to what degree? Animation quality? Yes. Creativity and story telling? If anything, it's worse given that's its the EXACT SAME THING (except maybe Pete's Dragon, but even then the plot is sub-par). There is nothing to be gained from them unless you wanna look at pretty moving images.

I wouldn't count Pete's Dragon since it was also originally live action (with the only 2D animation being Elliot). It's pretty shallow to say that a remake being the exact same thing is bad because the new IT movie proves that a lot care is required to be a great remake. Case in point, the live action Jungle Book movie.

It's pretty shallow for big name companies to remake things that don't need to be remade (Looking at you Cartoon Network), and not only that, but barely change anything about it aside from visual quality. Not only does Disney have the potential to put all that money and new IT into something new and memorable, but they have been known to do it in the past. The fact they are ripping off their own movies just shows how desperate they've become. What of the lesser known characters that actually have potential to be something great, like Dream Catcher and Figment? Where is their new IT standalone movie?

Chill, their recent remakes weren't even that bad (compared to Alice and Maleficent at least). Since you mentioned CN, you realized that rebooted DuckTales and captured the same spirit the original had. And now we're seeing fans wanting other Disney Afternoon shows to get the same treatment (at least the ones that got referenced in the first two episodes). Also, we're getting a Wrinkle in Time movie this year, so there's your potential new IT standalone movie.

Well screw him! It's the reason why I have nothing else to watch for Disney. Except the remakes which I don't even want take a look at them. We have two terrible things: remakes (which is more terrible), and sequels (which are less terrible). But John stopped the continuation of the less terrible things so what we have left terrible are the remakes. If you don't want anymore sequels, simply don't watch them. Shame on him for shutting down what's at least better than the remakes

I remember the Dumbo 2 behind the scenes, and how excited I was to see the movie since they made it seem like it was gonna happen. A movie following a bunch of baby animals sounded so adorable! I had no idea about any of these other sequels, though. The Jungle Book 3 actually sounded interesting to me. I would've liked to see a different side to Shere Khan. Treasure Planet 2 looked interesting too, especially since Jim was supposed to have a love interest. I would've liked to see more of his relationship with Silver too. I'm not a super big fan of Hercules, but it would've been cool to see what other adventures he could go on, and what his daughter would've been like. I have no idea what they could've done with Mulan 3, but if they did go through with it, maybe they could've fixed the mistakes from the previous movie, since Mulan 2 was a bit of a train wreck. As for Aladdin 4, I'm kinda glad they didn't make it, because I'm not sure what else could've been done with Aladdin, unless they give him a family or something like they were gonna do with Hercules. Or, maybe they could've had Genie's girlfriend, Eden, from the show make an appearance.

Thankfully The Jungle Book 3 got cancelled because Shere Khan is perfect as a villain in the original book and adaptations including Disney. Thankfully Disney learn it's lesson to respect the character from the book and keep him as one of it's villains in Disney history aka remains evil in the animated films, especially with the live action version. They could have choose something else for it with no different side or redemption whatsoever. I think The Jungle Book is better with one sequel and no more, especially since the lava pit seems to end Shere Khan's threat for good. Surely, you understand, right?

Mulan 3 actually sounded pretty cool, from what little information that has been leaked, apparently the emperor would get captured and imprisoned in Japan and Mulan would have to go and save him, Which sounds like a way better plot than Mulan 2.

Peridot SU I'm kind of glad treasure planet didn't get a sequel. Don't get me wrong, Treasure Planet is my ALL TIME favorite Disney movie, and *nothing* will ever change that. But I just don't want it to be spoiled like Mulan or Aladdin had been. Not to mention that the charm of the first movie was based around a father-son relationship, not the usual Disney love-interest infested crap. I'm glad Jim wasn't thrusted into one of those sappy stories. It would've ruined the beauty of the first movie.

It really is making me sad to see that Treasure Planet failed big, considering a Sequel and TV-Series were planed. Disney was the biggest part of my Childhood and my Brother and me loved all the Movies were a Princess or a Girl was not the Hero or the Protagonist, which was sifficult to find in Disney animated movies. Hercules, Alladin, Tarzan and Treasure Planets were only the few and we loved Treasure Planet so much. We had the Video, watched it in the movie and even bought the games on PS1 and PS2. The lost parts of that franchise will remain a big whole in my childhood.

i want Treasure Planet 2 too but i think its great they didn't make the sequel because it think the sequel would've been disappointing, Im not sure if you've seen this but there was a video that shows how Treasure planet 2 would've been like if it was still on. The story didn't make sense to the title and tbf the story was not as interesting as the first. So part of me is glad the second one didn't come out. Also most Disney sequels are bad and overrated, as for example, the second Atlantis really disappointed me, the illustration wasn't the same and it was so odd, but the first one was brilliant.

About Aristocats 2: When I was little, I don't remember a specific date, I was watching some Tom and Jerry shorts that he had on that computer. I remember seeing at one point the Aristocats and the sequel, both as mp4 files and both about 1 hour long.. About one or two years ago this memory came into my mind again, so when I looked in the same computer again, both of the files were missing and I assumed that he erased the file. I'm still angry at my self for not asking about the movie, as when I was little I thought I'd see it again some day..

You know what's the worst thing about Treasure Planet? It's that it never got the chance to shine. It's an amazing movie, with beautiful ship designs (those who played Battle at Procyon will know what I mean), and well-written character (Jim Hawkins and John Silver's relationship is unlike any other I've ever seen), but Disney never gave this movie a chance when they considered it a waste of money. But where it gets even worse is that not only was there a sequel planned, but there are rumors that there also was plans to make a tv series of this universe. Yeah, that's right, Treasure Planet could have been Disney's own science fiction universe before they bought Star Wars. And the whole irony of this is that a lot of people enjoy the movie... :'(

North Ga Prepper, I do not thank John Lassintor for cancelling most of the disney sequels... why? because people want to see more adventures of the disney characters that we all know and love. Me I am The Duke of Artz. I have been into Traditional ART since I was eight years old. I am getting better at drawing and sketching as years go by while CGI animation is getting FAR TOO COMPLICATED. Now don't get me wrong CGI animation is nice and all but still far too complicated to me and others. If Walt Disney was alive today he probably would not want CGI animation to continue on. Somebody needs to bring Traditional Animation back on it's feet and give Artists and Traditional Animators a chance. The Walt Disney Studios would probably want to hire me, The Duke of Artz. why because my dream is to collaborate with a major film company and I have ideas for movie sequels that I'd like to share.

Basically it was really expensive to produce because of the 3D rendering by using something called "canvas" ____ (forgot the name) and the film was facing two huge blockbusters. Not only that but they had a different guy in charge and threw it to die. They didn't even have a medium of ads because it was "a different path of disney" and I guess that's when they purposely "killed" treasure planet

Working on my own version of one of these cancelled movies. My version, however, is from the perspective of a brand new character. Here's a sneak peek. Try to guess which cancelled sequel I modified. And that's when Mom dropped the bombshell. There was a war, and of course they had Dad drafted. There was something else about the wife of Mom's ex but I honestly can't think right now. I didn't even finish breakfast. Just ran up the stairs and flopped onto my bed, asking my grandfather for protection over my family. His voice then rang through my ears, telling me that, at some point in the war, Dad would be in desperate need of my help. And just left it at that. In the middle of the night, I hopped onto (name of animal sidekick from first movie) and went to warn (name of other comedic sidekick/mentor from first movie). Of course, Dad's pretty much invincible. But gods only know what will happen next.

Virtually all of the Disney direct-to-DVD sequels were cancelled by John Lasseter because when he became head of Disney's animation studio, he wanted a fresh start for his tenure as the head of the animation studio and have the studio stop lingering on older properties for money because they were hindering the company. It worked out in the end unsurprisingly.

Honestly I'm glad they didn't make Aladdin 4. Not saying there wasn't some potentional, but, despite some over the top moments, I honestly thought "Aladdin And The King Of Thieves" was meant to be a conclusion, and worked well in doing so. And found it to be way better than Return Of Jafar, which to me seemed more like a pilot to the tv series. Maybe if they had brought in the other genie Eden from the TV series, and used some of the stuff never used due to numerous events that happened while Aladdin was being made, it would've had potentional. Such as him looking for a long lost brother, or the fact originally he was supposed to have a mother they literally never speak about period. Or the confirmed truth that originally the peddler at the start of the first Aladdin was supposed to be the genie, maybe they could've twisted that in as both a blessing a curse-like genie not having powers while he clearly enjoyed all his theatrics, but also getting to be human which seems way more like a realistic "freedom" from the bottle than how he was basically an overpowered magical being forever. But making a film based on stuff scrapped doesn't mean it'd turn out good or work either. They should just release the series on DVD/Blu-Ray and on a streaming service, no idea why they wouldn't do this. Most of it was better than the best of "Return Of Jafar" tbh, and, there were some pretty great scenes in that film even if I must call it out as the weakest by far (in the aladdin series).

Even though there was a third Little Mermaid there was originally going to be a different plot. It would have taken place after the first and before or just completely ignore the second one. I don't exactly know what the plot was but it involved Ariel, Eric, Sebastian and a white horned whale. Don't believe me then you can find the storyboard online at Disney wikia. Also while there was also a second Beauty and the Beast that is a midquel it seems it was originally planned as a sequel and would have involved Gaston's brother getting revenge on Belle and the Prince.

You know, I feel like if they would've simply sat down enough to think about just how crazy the world of Pinocchio really was, there was room for a good sequel. The basic concept of whom wanted to do in this video simply involves Pinocchio questioning why life itself is unfair. He'd also have been pushed more into the real world then in the first animated film-probably going to school, bullies, people knowing the truth of him. One moment of him doing something foolish or ill-advised and he could be feeling super down like he isn't really human or something. This universe also has who knows how many boys who turned into donkey's. Could that process be reversed? It'd take away the harsh coldness of the first, but, it is another concept that perhaps there was a way. But even without that, the movie has fox characters (I get the point but they were the only non human english speaking characters), so are they more anthropomorphic beings around?. I feel like just with the dilemma's Pinocchio could've faced "being human" on top of exploring it's own little world more, that could've been 45 minutes of solid storytelling right there. So figuring out like another 30-40 minutes would've been the challenge. Maybe add in things about forgiveness, like encountering the foxes they get reformed but Stromboli isn't, goes to jail forever? I'll be honest, even with how insane it is and well done, Pinocchio is far from my favorite Disney film. I still think of any one of these, it's a shame potentional wasn't seen.

Thankfully Disney learns it's lesson to respect the villain remaining bad in the book by keeping him bad in it's adaptation like other adaptations and the live action remake. They could have thought of something else that doesn't include redeemed, keep the circus idea but also keep Shere Khan bad in the end despite being freed as well, kinda like Tublat in Caged Fury who remained bad despite Tarzan freeing him. The Jungle Book is best with only one sequel and no more if that's the case, especially if you like Shere Khan as a villain in Disney and original book. Walt would have wanted his villains to stay as they are in his films, including Shere Khan.

I think chicken little 2 had 2 story plots. The first was mission to mars which was based on the movie at the end and the ugly duckling story with chicken little's love triangle and I also think the sheep that was part of chicken little's love triangle was the secret main antagonist who was a wolf in disguise who pretended to fall in love with chicken little to eat him in tribute to the original sleep away camp plot where the sheep who ran the camp were wolves in disguise plotting to eat the students.

I would love to have Treasure Planet 2, eversince I found out about the film (TP2) I was o upset that it didn’t make it and that the person in charge at the time wanted its failure :( it makes me upset and angry that it came to that. I love Treasure Planet, Atlantis, The Iron Giant etc because they all have something so unique and amazing about them, and I genuinely miss the 2D animation times :(. I’m still bummed out by this and would just love to see TP2, but some of the best films could not make it :(

IMHO it's for the best that these sequels were cancelled/shelved because they were more or less just cheap cash ins. I highly doubt that anyone was really clamoring for The Aristocats 2, Dumbo 2 and so on. These cut rate productions barring a few never really lived up to the original films to begin with either animation or story wise. The changing of the guard that occurred at the Disney studios in late 2005-early 2006 with Lasseter and co. taking over really made them step back and realize that these sub par films were not working anymore in the grand scheme of things. I saw my fair share of them as a kid so i knew just how cheaply made they were even back then. The DTV's stand as a reminder of the frugal mindset the suits had at the time in the early 2000's, but now they are increasingly forgotten and relegated to mere bonus feature status. Thankfully they have moved on from those days....

+Shnobbs Man Yeah, I think Cinderella 2 was the absolute worst of the DTV's, as well as that other Beauty and the Beast sequel. Of course those two were both three to four episodes of aborted TV series based on the original films cobbled together to feature length... Some others i can think of that are nearly as bad include Pocahontas 2, Hunchback 2.etc The only ones i even remotely like out of the whole lot are the Aladdin and Lion King sequels.
