@Day May some people think, and I have to agree, that Ali had the onset of Parkinsons before he retired. Ali retired a couple of times but came back though during interviews and publicity stuff for those fights it was clear that he was already experiencing symptoms of the disease although at the time nobody knew what was wrong it was clear that that something was. His speech was slurred but he still gave some of his famous quotes. I doubt if any other person would have ever been allowed to step into a ring never mind fight for the heavyweight championship of the world, for their own safety, unless it was Muhammed Ali. Truly the greatest of all times.

@@ToothChipNThrash He's absolutely correct. "Pretty boy" Floyd changed his name to "Money" Mayweather shortly after the beating he took in their fight. He stopped fighting for people (offensive) and started fighting for the prize (defense). As a counterbalance for possible fan loss he decided to make people hate him. On one regional championship fight in the second round, I caught the other guy with three punches (so I was told) and all of a sudden he was just standing there leaning up against the ropes with his hands down by his sides and eyes closed. Actually his armpits were over the ropes holding him upright. I stopped for a couple of seconds, looked at the referee for some sort of response but there was none, so I (reluctantly) continued on punching until the referee intervened. What makes this rather unusual was that I was twelve and weighed 4 stone 11 pounds!

“Great work by the fighter and the ref.“ No, great work by the fighter and terrible work by the ref. The fighter should not be the one deciding if a match is to be stopped or not. Due to his concern for the other fighter, he was exposed to potentially getting hit him self. It could’ve been a disaster either way.

When i was young and did karate i had a devastating right roundhouse.. i had one guy in the juniorclass that was capable to fight me in sparring and we went head to head every week.. one day he stopped.. work and school and stuff so i was competing against green belts (i was brown by then) and during sparring i kicked a kid 2years younger. I hit him hard and wrong.. straight to on his face as he turned his head right to find an exit out of the corner... He started crying only the sensei didnot see it proper since his stance was good and hands where high... I said this is enough while my sensei wanted us to continue... I got bumped to the seniors 2weeks later and i was just 14... There i was had meetings with feet and fist twice my size and loved every minute of it...

Most fighters would have aimed for the neck once they knew he was hurting there, but that would have caused permanent damage. It takes immense mental fortitude and sportsmanship to resist that urge. Props to the drunken master

in MMA youre not allowed to hit there. if i remember right, someone took an elbow to the back of the head, won the fight, then died of internal bleeding.

Augustus was an amazing fighter it is a shame he didn't really get the respect he deserved. People considered his style him showboating and often talked badly about the man. Floyd Mayweather still says the toughest fight ever in his career was against Augustus, so that should be a sign that he was a very hard boxer to fight against.
@vanluces87264 жыл бұрын
Not against augustus but to the fighters he actually lost to in the ring but came out winner anyway in the judging. Castillo, maldana, delahoya, cotto, pacman. Those are the names. A latino american fighter was close to beating him too if not for the sneaky come from behind right he threw while the latter was explaining to the ref that sent him down.in contrast to augustus whos admirable not just with his skills but also his clean, fair, considerate and sportsmanlike way of fighting .
