Top and Tilt: How Does A Top and Tilt Kit Work?

What is top and tilt (TnT kit) on a tractor and how does it work? Those are two questions that we hopefully answer for you in this video. We have the two hydraulic cylinders setup on a 2018 John Deere 3046r tractor along with the Electric Diverter Valve option which allows the system to be controlled with the loader joystick.

That tilt cylinder looks to be the wrong size, you could only tilt to the right.

What is the contracted length on the side link cylinder? Im having a hard time finding a cylinder the right length and pressure operation. I have a 3046r and the closed manual side link is 17-1/2 inches. However all the side link cylinders I see available online that have a closed 17-1/2 inch measurement are cat 0 cylinders. Not cat 1. Help? Looking for aftermarket. Cannot afford top drop $800 on the deere cylinder right now.

I just installed a hydraulic top link the other day to use on my rear remotes. I am not considering the tilt, what hydraulic cylinder would I need for the 3025e? Is it the same as what you have here?

It helps with attaching, detaching, grading work, mowing on banks, etc.

Thanks for the info. I bought a 3046R from my local dealer and had it configured for top and tilt with the separate fender mounted controls. I love it, thanks for showing me how helpful it can be. I have one question, the top cylinder has a mount on top that is not used on yours, on mine, it came with a bracket that attached to a mount near the upper frame of the tractor. the dealer said that was to prevent the cylinder from twisting. The bracket kept the 3 point from lowering all the way, but it finally broke when I was trying things out, and everything works fine now, except for the pieces of the little bracket hanging off. Did yours originally have an anti twist arrangement on the top cylinder?

Since you have played with both configurations, which do you prefer? Electronic diverter valve or the separate controls? I do not have either and wonder if having the separate controls would allow me to use the FEL without having the loss of the top and tilt.

I've read somewhere that if you have top and tilt that you cannot put on down pressure. Is that correct? If you just do top, is that still the case?

You would have to buy a down pressure kit in order to have downpressure on a 3 point hitch. Most commonly seen with augers.

What you got like 7 or 8 freaking hydraulic hook ups on that little compact. Daaaang..... It'll take 10 minutes to get the hookups into the right position. Then remembering. I want a device that'll allow my implement to orbit the tractor and move independent of the tractor while I maintain full control of it.

I can't believe how exposed the hoses on the bottom of that tractor for the loader are. Kubota does't do that...and there's an armored box for it too.

What happened to the top anti twist link, I notice your system doesn't have one? Mine broke almost immediately.

1.) What are the kit number(s) for the 3320 to control the 4th and 5th function via levers instead of the electronic diverter valve? 2.) Keeping the cost of the kits in mind do you think it is cheaper overall for a JD tech to install/setup the TNT kit with electronic diverter valve or is it cheaper overall for a JD tech to install/setup the TNT like it is shown in this video for the 3320?

While Hydraulic top links are common in agriculture settings, I twist my top link in and out easy enough and like it “fixed” in a level position. Is that really necessary? Also the hydraulic tilt.... they sell blades with tilt for that purpose. Would be fun to have for 1 project but then seems like a pain after that

@@GoodWorksTractors well I'm about to get my jd 3039R whenever the dealer gets it in I've got top an tilt coming this week so I guess I'd like to see the full installation from beginning I do better learning from videos since I'm not that mechanically gifted know enough to keep me out of trouble and instructions..can be a bit confusing on something. But however youd like to do it. I love watching your videos my wife is about to kill me lol

Or like using a rear blade to cut a small trench with one end. Could there be a use if yet another cylinder was added to a lower 3pt arm to extend or retract?
