Watched this video last night, went out to a local lake this morning and absolutely slayed some largemouths and spots on a 10 inch worm. Had a blast. Thanks JW for sharing your knowledge 🙌🏻

I just moved to Chattanooga and I'm finally able to fish the same waters as you JW, now if I only had a boat and a selection like your shop wall. My kids join in watching your vids and when were out shore bashing they say "what would wheeler do" when looking through the tackle box.
@Woodduck-p4s3 ай бұрын
Well you can just move back out to, because you were invited here by us long term living Tennessee people that have lived in this state all our lives,you people keep on moving in here and it's causing over crowding and kaos on the road ways now so Tennessee is NOT the answer u got it so buzz off to another state sucker

August is tough on my blue back herring lake. I ust to winn 97 % of tourney until the herring got put in. At 73 maby l am too old. Ust to fish big tourney trails. Last time I fish Chick. l end up 4th. didn't get a 12" to win Ranger fully equipped. Now it hurts to loose so much. Don't guess U have time for me a thaught. U are really blessed and amazing. Happy for you.

With the cold nights and the vegetation already dying here in Michigan on my home lake, the Bass are really moving shallow. Had a good 3 days last weekend and Monday using chatter baits, beavers on Trig and a frog

Great video as usual, as an Indiana transplant from Birmingham Alabama, I really relate to your fishing tactics especially on Racoon Lake, where I was able to absolutely slay the biguns with a square bill and shaky head. Best of luck to you this year, and I will be rootin for you and DC

Man this time of year can be tough for sure! Definitely takes a while to get a solid pattern but they are out there biting somewhere on the lake/river.

Slim bait was key this weekend on Toledo Bend. Rigged a zoom trick worm on a Carolina rig. 22 ft of water. That was key. They didn’t want a speed craw or a fluke.

I've been killing it on a big worm about all I've been throwing

Jwheels,the Rapala Xrap jerkbait in pink, orange, clown etc. All the bright colors I fish all summer in 40ft visibility for smallmouth and they destroy it. Something about these bright colors, smallmouth go crazy for. Also drop swim Megabass hazedong shad along the grass line transition to gravel bottom. Those two techniques never fail every summer.

Fished a tournament at SML in VA. Was using the green pumpkin slim shake worm on a shaky head. Ended catching a 6lb 0oz. Largemouth that not only was the big fish if the day, but ended up being the 3rd biggest fish ever caught in the 13 years of the tournaments history, Biggest was 6lb 5oz. So I got close lol 😆

Hey Jacob, Thanks for being such an awesome guy! Question? On crank baits and Jerkbaits can you tell me when to use or not use floating vs Suspending model baits?

Yeah the vibrating jig on my home lake it dies off really fast pretty much after the month of June you about can't buy a bite on a vibrating jig I can fish right behind my buddy in the front of the boat he can be throwing a vibrating jig and I'll throw a swim jig in the same water same cover and I'll get two bites to every one that he gets sometimes 3 especially later in the year

Damn, August is DEFINITELY dog days of summer here in Florida!! Been struggling to get bites, even early morning (8am for me). I'm been sticking to the 5" Senko wacky rigged. I'm getting bites, but they are not like it was in the spring 😢

Great video as always JW! Quick question: I didn’t see a leader in your swim bait, do you throw straight braid with that? Sub question: What other baits do you throw where you don’t use a leader? Me - Topwater.

What's the trick to KY Lake?
@judsonphenicie13973 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen you bite the top off of the trick worm style worms several times. Does that help you rig them up better? So that the hook eye comes out better, or is that just if you are using a jig head?
@WheelerFishing3 жыл бұрын
Typically I do that when I’m rigging it on a shakey head. I really don’t know if it matters it’s just something I got in a habit of doing it
@brianhershberger44293 жыл бұрын
So when you say your using 40 lb. braid, are you adding a fluro leader to that? And if so what are all the factors going into size choice for the fluro?
@WheelerFishing3 жыл бұрын
Nope just straight braid on my topwater as of late. Other than prop baits that’s when I’ll put a 20lb 2 ft mono leader attached to the braid.

I need advice on how to catch a bass in Georgia
@eric4seasons3 жыл бұрын
I'm in north Carolina and I've been hammering them on a yamasenko baby bass 5 inch worm, 4/0 ewg hook no weight and weedless. I use a 7ft medium heavy fsst shimano rod and shimano slx dc baitcaster with 15 pound flouro. I caught 6 this morning and the biggest was 7 lbs 5 ounces. I also have been throwing frogs but they've just been swiping at it. The lake by my house is full of grass and it's hard to use anything else.

Are you replacing your square bills, from plastic bills, to the jabber jaw type?
@WheelerFishing3 жыл бұрын
Not all of them. The Jabber jaw has its time and place. It’s more of a wider wobbling squarebill. Sometimes I want a tighter wobble so I use baits like the BX brat
