I was told in the tile store that matt black fixtures( love ) are not practical as they show everything and rust/paint comes off easy? Is this true?

Being darker finishes they would show more water spots/ deposits than chrome or pewter. Oil rub bronze fixtures would show water spots as well, but a simple wipe takes care of most. Over time all fixtures can show a build up, especially if hard water is an issue. But with regular cleaning (try a vinegar and water mixture) should take care of those issues. As for the finish coming off… that can happen over time with many chrome and pewter fixtures as well. My advice is to go with the look you want, and do normal cleaning and maintenance and you should get a good life out of them. Thanks for watching and have fun with the project.😀

This is good but I would replace the mirror and light with extra large vanity makeup mirrors, they come with an auto dimmer and add a hotel like feel to the space, it’s exellent

Less grout is in deed welcome. I follow the TCNA guidelines PERIOD. TheThe big and only big factor to influence your bathroom are the fixtures. They will effect your design for your bathroom. Satin nickel vs crome, or gold, or whatever. Even high end fixtures cannot survive hard water. Think of time and use.....and make better decisions.

Not sure what supplier the builder used for the mirror, but Lowes has large mirrors with the black frames (in a variety of styles) - www.lowes.com/pl/bathroom-mirrors/black/oversized-50-in-h-and-above/4294737205-4294820005-1490958216 .... Hope this helps .... Thanks for watching!

Tile floors are ideal for bathrooms because it can handle water and moisture without getting damage. using a matte finish would help a little, but all tiles will experience some level of slipperiness. I would recommend using bath mats around showers and tubs and even sinks for help against that. Porcelain is a little more durable than ceramic, but both are good. I haven't seen too much change in the vanity tops, most builders and remodelers are staying with lighter colors for the surfaces no matter what color the vanity is. Folks are installing stone (usually quartz) in the owner's bath and maybe a cultured marble in the secondary bath. That's what I have been seeing. Thanks for asking and watching!! Take care.
