Rebirth is absolutely my game of the year as well. I haven't played Astro Bot and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, but I got them on a Black Friday sale, so they are in the queue. P.S. That pixel sprite of Zack doing squats is adorable!

1. FF7 Rebirth 2. Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D 3. Silent Hill 2 Remake I absolutely loved these games. I stilll need to play Metaphor and Unicorn Overlord which I will get to real soon. But the 3 I listed completely blew me away.

There’s no doubt that Remakes allow devs to offset some risk depending on the property, while increasing ambitions off of selectively higher quality games. Often wholly newer efforts are rooted in modern game design elements. You often get something more interesting when devs are forced to hybridize old ideas with new tech.

For me it was definitely FF 7 rebirth, still working on beating sephiroph at the golden saucer mini game for the platinum 🥲 one day lol.

As an older jrpg fan, thought Metaphor was incredible, not too much can keep me interested. Not an Atlus fan but damn they hit that out of the park.
