True, imagine how OP that would be. Seriously though, idk why Hearthstone for so long overestimated the strength of a 1 mana 2/2 weapon so much. It’s very efficient but the powerlevel is confined to such low value. Similar with 1 mana 2/2 minions or the 1 mana 1/4

@@Icetea-2000 That's because of powercreep, there was a 1 mana 2/2 weapon for paladin back in the day that had battlecry deal 5 dmage to your hero and people unironically give it 5 stars because the powerlevel was so low back then

@@lettucebob7395 That’s not accurate, Bloodclaw was severely overestimated. It was actually a 1 star card even back then but people got way too ahead of themselves because it was the first 1 mana 2/2 weapon. But it wasn’t any good even back then, how do you explain this with powercreep? Minions still have the same sort of base stats, with Bloodclaw you will probably end up killing two minions in the early game or assisting your minions to kill one. It’s just not that impactful. Weapon stat math is really weird, but when weapons get low attack they better be really efficient, like lights justice for 1 mana which has 4 durability because its impact is so low. But just adding two attack on that makes it 5 mana, see old assassins blade.

Lorekeeper Polkelt’s effect can be disrupted by card shuffling effects (like bombs). Whenever a card is shuffled into a deck, the entire deck gets shuffled. That hero power can’t be disrupted, and it has the benefit of providing the choice of the lower cost card so you can have playable turns before you draw your high cost cards.

Everyone in here is talking about Polkelt, but forget to mention that if any card if shuffled into your deck it'll rearrange the deck randomly. meanwhile the hero power gives players the choice in both the late game and the early game to get a good card and cannot be tampered with.

I mean no one would ever bother to do that but that's on the same level as an argument as yours so I guess it even it out.

@@TheTomoyaNagase not true. HP countering cards are too niche and weak to be played as counters, and I don't think it's currently possible in standard. But pokelt can be countered with old shuffle cards and the new disruption cards they introduced like glide. It's way easier to interact with pokelt than a HP, considering that the shuffle cards aren't as niche and are playable on their own (like bombs or albatross).

Honestly, I really don't mind Muradin Bronzebeard that much. Deathwing's downside is that it costs a full turn of mana and discards your hand, but the upside is that it leaves you with a huge 12/12 body. Twisting Nether's downside is that it costs one more mana and doesn't leave you with a body on board, but its upside is that it doesn't discard your hand, and it leaves you with 2 mana to do one more thing. Muradin's upside is that it's a Twisting Nether for one less mana and an attached 5/4, but the downside is that you have to run it in a Highlander deck, which limits the playability of it. Like Trump pointed out, you sometimes play regular Brawl after summoning a throwaway one to three-mana minion to have a chance at winning the Brawl. But if you're doing that, your odds of winning are still low, and most of the time you do that, you spend two cards and an average of 7 mana to achieve a Twisting Nether effect that leaves one of the opponent's minions (I think we should as a community mash those two words together and say "opinions," lol) up on the board, and that could be a big minion. So often times you're also committing a Shield Slam to save yourself in that case. Basically, Brawl almost always requires a second removal card to deal with a board (either in the form of a throwaway minion that wins the Brawl, a Shield Slam or Execute to destroy the winner of the Brawl, or both). Muradin costs a bit more and removes that necessity, but it can also only be played in specific decks where you are limited to only running one of the other good cards that you'd normally want to run two of, and it's also a legendary, so it SHOULD be better than other forms of removal for its cost, and you can only run one of it in your deck no matter what. I do think that increasing the mana cost to 8 or 9 would be a good idea, and while it would still be very powerful, I don't think it would be at all ridiculous to print as Trump suggests. Putting it at 10 mana, though, would just make it a Twisting Nether that also summons a 5/4. And yes, the 5/4 is a good deal for an additional two mana, but how much better than Twisting Nether does it really become at that point, considering it's a legendary card that also comes with the downside of being run only in Highlander decks and that you can only run one of no matter what unlike Twisting Nether? You're never going to run Muradin in a non-Highlander deck at 10 mana; that'd just be a 10-mana Brawl, and you might as well use a throwaway minion at that point to save mana for an additional Shield Slam or Execute in the same turn if needed. Think about the Highlander Reno card. It's definitely powerful; it can clear most or all of an opposing board without impacting your own minions at all (as Muradin would) and leave behind a 4/6 all for 6 mana (even if it doesn't clear everything, it can facilitate great value trades), but nobody complains about it. Reno wouldn't be guaranteed to clear a board, which is the massive upside of Muradin, but it can sure give you a whole bunch of tempo, also unlike Muradin, which only leaves a 5/4 on your side and destroys any other minions you already have. For all of the reasons already stated, I think making Muradin a 9-cost card would be ideal.

I dont really see how Muradin Bronzebeard is so broken. Godfrey is the same mana cost and does a similar effect. Muradin has one more attack but it requires you to have no duplicates for it to survive so I don’t really see the problem.

It was always a dream of mine to be rated 1 star on custom cards of the week (i'm 6:13) but i think it's worth noting that it was part of a set of 8 cards - one guldan card for every class that didnt have one and it was probably one of the worst ones :(

Trump said it seemed too weak. One buff it could have without ruining the 6 and 3 theme would be to give it "any secrets drawn have Casts When Drawn." Not sure how that works if you draw 2 of the same secret, and it might buff it a bit too much.

If I had to create a small minion for a resurrect priest deck I'd draw inspiration from Omega cards. Those cards had bonus effects if you played them at 10 mana. Take the same concept but instead of "on play" effect use a different trigger. So it would be something like: 2 mana 2/3 Walking Tank "while you have 10 mana this minion has +4/+4"

I mean...comparing Muradin to "Kelidan the Breaker": 7 mana 5/4 vs. 6 mana 3/3 boardclear when no duplicates (which also means no 2 copies of Brawl) vs. boardclear when drawn And Kelidan is nowhere near OP right now... I think putting Muradin to 8 would suffice.

Drawing Kelidan on the turn you need a boardclear is way harder than building a deck with no duplicates though. Like, that's not even comparable. And some decks would just run muradin as a 3rd more expensive brawl and completely ignore the highlander condition anyway.

The condition of having to draw it in order to get the board clear is pretty major. 95% he just destroys one minion. When you factor in plot twist its actually 7 as planning to draw it when you most need it the most ain't a game plan.

Exactly....it's not "Deathwing but it doesn't discard your hand". Deathwing (for one) is a vanilla card so no problem powercreeping it a bit and secondly it gives you a 12/12 for the effect instead of a mere 5/4 and it doesn't require highlander.

Kelidan is waaaaay more difficult to pull off. If you draw him at any turn other than the one you want to clear, then he becomes way weaker. He's only a board clear when you get the perfect draw and if you draw him too soon that chance goes down the drain. He suffers the same problem as Flame Leviathan's "2 damage to all minions when drawn" - that "when drawn" is rarely the right time. Muradin can be held onto for the perfect moment.

probably true, but how hard is it to complete most quests? uldum ones can be fairly easy (bazaar burglary, corrupt the waters can be done before turn 5, untapped potential usually as well, only problem would be the long quests like the warlock or hunter ones), no idea how long would the un'goro quests take with current cards, but overall, if you decided to run this version of Leeroy, you could usually make it work pretty well and not take too much drawback from the "complete the quest" downside

My Trickery of Gul'dan redesign would be "Spells drawn cost (2) less", so that it wouldn't quite be Skull of Gul'dan, but if you draw 3 spells costing 2 or more it effectively pays for itself in the long run. Seems a little better than a purely secret package, keeps a fragment of the original design's flavor, and synergies with the "all spell" mage that Ashes of Outland was going for.

I don't know maybe it's just me being desensitized from playing wild only for months now but I think Muradin I balanced. If we look back to Witchwood we had a really cool guy that said "7 mana 4/4 cast a better defile" now granted it was in warlock but even in Warrior I think this would be fine especially because you HAVE to go highlander to make this a guaranteed board clear and 1 card wouldn't make Highlander Warrior suddenly be tier 1. Side note: sometimes the board has sticky deathrattles makling him no a full board clear compared to Lord Godfrey which, with a little math could even clear that

Also nothing in Renogos says that each creature can't be summoned more than once.This makes it so you dont want to remove a good creature, because they might get it back several times.

Not exactly. Muradin can be held in hand until you need him while that warlock legendary has an extremely narrow window of use as a board clear (the turn you draw him). To be used more consistently as a board clear he needs support from other cards, so he isn't really a stand alone board clear + minion like Muradin.

Walking tank could be renamed to "rusting mech" to give it more flavor (it can't be resurrected because it rusts away after being destroyed). It would also cover its low stats for a mech. It would still be niche but niche cards are a thing. It is still a 2/3 for 2.

Everyone talking about Muradin but no one talking about the ultimate meme combo deck that would exist if Renogos was added. Have Malygos as your only minion on the board, use Renogos to make them disappear, use Polkelt to put all the Wing Tricks on top of the deck since they cost 10 mana, draw to get 5 Malygos on the board.

For what it's worth, Fishflinger is a theoretically better version of the card that was revealed- You can choose highest or lowest every turn, which is provides greater flexibility, and start of game effects as a given are faster than battlecrys. Though whether or not this effect is appropriately balanced by the fact that you lose your standard hero power I wouldn't know.

The pala card is not too weak. most of theese Palaspells are worth at least one Mana, so you get 4 minions and around 4 mana worth of spells on top of it. Also in wild there are strong synergies with that kind of stuff.
